Title: Price check please
Post by: tikibirds on January 26, 2013, 11:42:14 AM
Any ideas on prices? What I paid several years ago and what they are worth seem to be not even close anymore.

I think I gave her a US gusty tail and some Disney BAP clothing. She didn't like being all Naked.
She's someplace in the closet at the moment, it looks like a faint blue mark on her butt

Argi pinwheel. Pretty sure she was rehaired by someone in the past.
Also in the closet someplace. I recall that there were alot of pen marks or something on her body even though its not showing in the picture.

I may be interested in your Greek Starshine and Twilight depending on price.

I'd generally trust Rel's prices on Argies, maybe a bit more - ebay is crazy up/down depending on who wants what these days... I think there was a mismatch head truly didn't fetch $80-$90 = I'm interested in yours if you are considering selling

I got my argie pinwheel - yellow hair for $50 but her horn tip is chewed off so thinking that flaw might be in the range of a rehair downgrade.. dunno

The brazil girl I haven't a clue... cannot remember what i spent from gustyfox as I got a bunch together from her... but maybe in that same $50 zone?

and I have no idea what your orange greeks are worth - but I'm thinking at least a couple hundred? Haven't seen an orange sunlight MOC come up and same goes for twilight...but I know some have let greeks like sunbeam, glory etc. go for like $150 so I have to agree with you if today's prices are down I"d be like keep 'em as these are bound to be up when the economy gets better (please please someday economy get better)

probably best to put those for an auction depending on the price you want, I'd be interested as others are on those two :-)

and  I got a cascade I think for $25 awhile back... so thinking she's in the $20-$35 range but dunno for sure

anyhow = lovely lot = keep us posted if you do consider selling any

I'm not sure I want to sell them...I'd like extra $$$ for my cruise but I know if I part with some of these I will NEVER get them back in my collection again  I sold off a bunch of nirvanas a few years ago and have regreted it ever since. Although I know most went to members on here, so that was some comfort.

Lets see, This is what I paid for them.
Parasol, surprise and pinwheel were all about $20ish.
Cascade was bout $15 or so.

greek twilight was MOC and about $35 when ebay was flooded with greeks a few years ago
Starshine and sunlight were both about $100 each. starshine was MOC but my mother decarded it  :enraged:

Truely was MOC when I got her but the card was in horrible shape and the bubble was kinda falling off. I got her with another pony, forgot who from potatomonkeys? potato something. Total came to $165

Brazil Gusty - came in a lot with several other brazillians about 6 years ago. Maybe $100 for the lot? I know it was an awsome buy but I dont recall how much it was. All I remember was some seller had several lots of brazillians up on ebay and I won one and scored the others off a member on here who won a different lot. I dont remember who that member was but they were big into nirvanas/south american ponies about 2006?

Man, I wish I had been around in the days when MOC Greeks were selling for only $35!

I'd be interested in Argie Truly and Grk Twilight and Sunlight if you decide to sell.

oh man you are very right about not seeing some of those ponies again... I'm totally in the catagory of do not sell if you think you will have regrets Please know I'm sure no one here wants a member to ever have regrets

yah that was an amazing time to think of a market "flooded" with nirvana so it was  like "meh, another...."

Does anybody remember how that one person got access to all those MOC greeks? Did he raid the El Greco factory or something? I though it burnt down bac in the 80's?

If only ebay would get flooded with columbians for just  little while.  ^.^

oooh I second wanting a flood of colombians... although without a Lars attached as a reason for ;-)

(sits and waits for someone who knows the history of that whole greek story to tell us  = yeah how did all that happen "back in the day")

As for the prices, I recommend taking offers on the Greeks since they seem to have a lot of interest ;) I sold my extra Brazil shy pose Gusty (with some issues, but she had her tail) for $37ish via offers a ways back.

And as for the Venny history... I wasn't around for when the 'acid Blossoms' showed up, but I remember someone posting a picture of the yellow Lickety-Split on behalf of a friend of theirs (I think it might've been SoSilver?), and then shortly afterwards a blue/green Lickety showed up on ebay. It ended for somewhere between $900-1000. It wasn't too long after that that I got my hands on my white one. And while people were discussing the similarities, a MIB yellow Blossom with blue hair surfaced (I'm pretty sure it was Figuras who was selling it). After that, it was kind of like the floodgates started to open and eventually word got around that us collectors would pay good money for these MIB ponies that were discovered in some warehouse ;)

Glacia I love your white Lickety she's by far the best Lickety variant I've seen : ) (of course Italy Blue Lickety Split is a very close second haha). Thanks for the Venny history : )

Thanks :)

DO any of you have a ballpark figure for her?
I asked on facebook but never got an answer
Her hair feels like it has conditioner in it that was never fully washed out.

I think I paid around $16-20 for my Bangles from the same set, but as I already had the other two before I joined the Arena, I'm afraid I haven't paid much attention to their prices :yikes:

I'd definitely take offers on Greek Twilight. I personally think she'd be in the $150-250 range. After the MOC Greek flood, the unicorns (Glory, Moondancer, Twilight, Sunbeam) don't pop up for sale very often. They are usually pretty sought after & I'm sure you would have multiple people interested if you decided to sell her.

If I remember correctly, the MOC Greek flood was due to a warehouse find of "old stock". There were 2 or 3 sellers that sold them back in the day. New MOC/MIP Greek stuff pops up from time to time, but never in the quantity from way back when.

I paid about $15-20 for my yellow haired Surprise in not dissimilar condition.

Greek Starshine I would agree with $80-100 and taking offers on Twilight sounds like a good idea. I would expect $150-200 for her. MOC Orange Sunlight maybe $120-140?

Man, I wish I had been around in the days when MOC Greeks were selling for only $35!

I was around, so I have very little excuse, but I wish I had bought more! Many more! (I got two, just as the prices were going back up, one at $40 and one at $45)

oooh I second wanting a flood of colombians... although without a Lars attached as a reason for ;-)

(sits and waits for someone who knows the history of that whole greek story to tell us  = yeah how did all that happen "back in the day")

I thought it was old shop stock from a warehouse or something like that, but I'm not 100% sure as I missed the very early part.
