Title: "brusing" on a pony?
Post by: DemureGirl on January 05, 2013, 10:53:35 AM
Hi

I got three ponies in the mail today. One of them, SkyRocket, has what I can only describe as brusing on her forehead and shoulder. The one on her forehead is totally circular, aout the size of the tip of my finger with a darker pinhead dot in the centre. I thought this might be caused by mold but the one on her shoulder is an odd shape and has no small darker dot. Any suggestions?

Those kind of marks are permanent as far as I know. I suggest you clean your pony very well. I have a pony like this and cleaned him with boiling water, which seems to have killed anything that is spreading. Nothing seems to have changed on him and I know he is clean now.

I think some people use diluted bleach to clean their ponies.

Is that Twinkle Eye Skyrocket? Yeah, she's very prone to regrind and pony cancer. I would save the [VERY] diluted bleach as a last resort, since she's such a dark color.
Lots of people here like to try sunfading for discolorations who can give advice on that. If it's regrind, there's nothing you can do, but usually regrinded plastic turns a color lighter than the original color, doesn't it?

I agree that pictures are always super helpful but on first impressions bruising is usually a good way to describe age marks/cancer. Unfortunately there isnt really anything that can be done about it. :(

She is a lovely pony however and tough to find in nice condition so hopefully she will still display nice for you.

Will get photos up asap :)

I also tried to clean my sticky maned parasol yeterday but her head was stuck on tight and I chickened out after seeing a ton of brown through a tiny crack in her seal

Firstly: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You appear to have cake in your posts!

Secondly: Sounds like rust-mould, aka 'cancer'. You can kill it off with cleaning and then sunfade it out, which is a relatively simply but lengthy process and if the pony has 'fading pink' hair then you'll need to wrap her hair in tinfoil. My windowsill looks like a circus in sunny weather.

(Does it *have* to be called 'cancer'?)
