The art is still awesome, but I'm really disappointed with this one. In several panels, the artist didn't give fluttershy wings and it's very very noticeable. How does this happen? As an artist, you need to know what you're drawing. I can't believe no one caught this before production
-
Wow, really..? Sigh... Sad to say that I'm not even that surprised anymore. Seems quality control on all new pony products just gets lazier and lazier. :(
-
I just picked up Cover C earlier tonight and haven't had a chance to read it yet. That is disappointing to hear.
:good:
-
ugh. That's disappointing. Still going to go pick it up tomorrow, though.
-
Dang it...I knew I wanted to go to town for something. Crappy to hear about the errors though.
-
Oh wow that's bad. I mean Hasbro merch. has had the same problem before, but still...
-
I got it, it was ok. The covers this time around had really awkward art. I didn't notice the errors however I was half asleep reading it. Now I'll have something to search for.
-
Oh thats a shame - considering the amount of effort going in to all the covers you would think they could manage not to over look something so fundamental :(
-

What...?
Comic errors happen all the time, no reason to act like ALL quality control is terrible these days because of a few missing wings.
I'm sure the G1 comics had errors all the time.
Sigh.
-
Yeah, I'm not upset about it. Comic errors happen allll the time, sometimes on purpose. Not saying this was deliberate, though. I actually find it kind of fun to spot these things. And I don;t see what the huge deal is. We know Fluttershy has wings, do we really need a drawing to prove it to us?

Gosh yes tonnes of errors - but they weren't exactly marketed to the same audience as the new FiM ones.
I understand the errors happen but at the same time such a massive fuss has been made of these comics - they are being marketed largely to a very well voiced comic market, they have 14 variant covers just for issue 1 which is an incredible figure. So while I understand mistakes happen, these aren't novels in content so personally I also would understand someone being a touch disappointed that it wasnt finished off to as near perfection as possible. Although maybe with years to come issue 2 will become unique because of its faults!
-
As someone who draws ponies, it's easy to forget wings on a pegasus, or a cutiemark, or other kinds of details. Sometimes you don't catch it until it's too late!
-
I think I'll stick to the G1 comics and their crazy foody adventure goodness.
-
Not to be too spoilery, but issue #2 has a "male pony collector" parody in it... not sure if I should be pleased or insulted! XD
:P
-
Kinda makes me feel a bit better abotu the fatc thta you can't get the new comic where I live! Thta's jus tplain daft not giving Fluttershy wings.
-
Comic errors abound in massive quantity, no matter what the series. I'm not sure that the artists care that much, honestly. They are paid to draw and they do that. But I don't think they sit in the washroom stall at work and tell themselves they suck because they forgot to give a pony wings. As long as it's not a HUGE issue like, say, the main character missing a prominent feature, the studio considers the job done. ;) They don't apply the craftsmanship that a comic drawn/inked/colored/published by one individual person would.
-
It's actualy VERY easy to forget the wings, horns, eyelashes etc. I've done it several times. Once, I was turning a Pegasus base into a Unicorn base before I started colouring, and I forgot to remove the wings. XD I didn't notice until AFTER I had coloured it in. XD
@Appleponygal: I think you can get it from Forbidden Planet. I haven't double-checked that yet, though.
-
Off topic - but yes in the UK you can get the comics from Forbidden Planet, online and in store.
-
If I may play Devil's Advocate for a moment, sometimes Fluttershy forgets that she has wings. :silly:
-
does anyone have pictures they could post?
-
Seems pretty silly because aren't these supposed to be illustrated by fan art masters? It seems like a big mistake, like Superman flying around as Clark Kent the whole issue.
-
That is sad to hear :(

And your point is?
Not everyone that is raising concerns or brings up an issue about G4 equals they are attacking it; as if bringing up G1 negates the complaints people have about G4. It doesn't just so you know. I don't quite get why you feel the need to bring up the G1 comic in a discussion about a mistake in the G4 comic.
And as far as the G1 comics go some of us don't even own a G1 comics and we were never able to purchase them back in the 80's.
Maybe instead of taking it as an attack on G4 you should consider that people might not be complaining because they hate G4, maybe they are complaining because they like it and want it to be better. Viewing every complaint about G4 as a attack and using the discussions to drag g1 into it makes me feel like your only purpose in the discussion is to find a way to belittle G1, instead of really offering a valid argument to the flaws being discussed.

As it happens, the comic is open beside me right now and indeed, Flutters is missing her wings in one of the panels. It's a shame that these errors happen, but I guess it's not a huge deal. It doesn't make the comic any less enjoyable, but it is odd that it went as far as it did without getting fixed.
-
Is it sad that I read this and think to myself, "Lol....I probably would never had noticed that." It sucks that it happened, but does it take away from the story? Was the story good? That would be my bigger concern.
-
Maybe she left them at home?
-
I will take some pictures this afternoon.
I was just very disappointed because IDW made suuuuch a big fuss over this series, and their artisit (who is a professional, this isn't just fanart) should have noticed her error. I would be upset if this were any other comic. It just seems like a mistake that shouldn't happen.

Yes, but professional doesn't mean perfect. Mistakes happen. I could see if they kept drawing Rainbow Dash instead of Fluttershy. I don't know. I guess I just sit on the other side of the fence on this one. lol. But again I ask....how is the story? Does it continue from comic 1? I don't know anything about these comics, and I am curious.
-
Obviously that part of the comic was too scary for Fluttershy, and Posey is her stunt double.
-
the story is totally adorable! and #2 picks up right where #1 left off.

You have a point. :p
-
Well you know, Fluttershy was originally an earth pony anyway :)
My comics arrived with the Exclusive Hot Topic covers, haven't even un wrapped them yet.
Hey this just makes them more valuable as collectors items right? :)
-
I ordered mine from Hot Topic saturday ,It just got shipped tonight, guess tomorrow I can start tracking it
got me some stickers from there as well.
-
Yeah it shipped early. It's inconsistent, she has them, then she doesn't, then she does again. I just flipped through the art, I haven't read it yet, I almost wonder if there is a story element behind it, though in my skimming it wasn't obviouse.

Are you sure, because I heard that in the third issue Rainbow Dash eats Pinkie Pie's egg sweets and goes on a FANTASY JOURNEY (http://heckyeahponyscans.tumblr.com/post/33819658112).
Seriously though, I didn't think Posey--errrr, Fluttershy's missing wings were that noticeable. That sort of thing is bound to happen now and again.

It's kind of fun to try to spot the errors, really.
The IDW comics are really cute and the art is much more lively and less "LOOKIE HERE WE ARE BEING FORCED TO ADHERE EXACTLY TO HASBRO'S CLIPART" than most stuff that appears on the merchandise.
