I caught someone using my picture on ebay from my previous listings. Should I contact the seller or just contact ebay and tell them?
I can tell it is one of mine because the background is particular to my house and I only shoot pictures with that background........

Report it to ebay!
-
Yep, just report to Ebay; let them discipline the bad seller. I once tried to handle a bad situation myself and just made it worse.
-
and the best part is that the pony is being listed by the person who bought the pony from me. I sold it for $3 and they are charging $7 and are using my photos.
-
I have had it happen numerous times and it always really grinds my gears
I used to email the seller with this link and a polite message stating the rules:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/image-text.html
But then I would get snotty messages back stating not to threaten them so I just started reporting them to ebay. Ebay will handle it almost immediately.
I am sorry you had to go through this. And it's really tacky they not only stole your pictures but it was your pony to begin with. People never cease to amaze!

How annoying! I would report it straight to ebay - they usually get those listings taken down fast ;) Sometimes contacting the person works, but quite often they will send you a rude message, or just ignore you, so its much easier to just let ebay handle it

Please share with us who it is so I can list their ID appropriately. NOT COOL! *pony hugs*
-
The seller's name is eddieotherwise
The listing had actually ended with no buyers, I found it as i was looking into ended listings to average a value of ponies to update my price guide.
I am not upset about him reselling it for a higher price that is his right, but he needs to take his own pics not reuse the ones from my listing to sell the item they bought from me.
I use only a certain backdrop for my ponies, and it is unique to my home, sort of like putting a signature on the pic. I have people who buy from me repeatedly and do not want them to confuse this person for me.
...on a more positive note I just was awarded a top rated seller classification on eBay...
-
Congrats on hitting top rated status!!
And definitely report them to ebay! How can you be sure it IS your pony? If they're using your pictures they could be trying to sell another of the same pony that's in different condition. You never know! Otherwise why not take their own pics?
-
I have had that happen before as well, I use a particular background so people know it is one of my items at a quick glampse, and also makes it easier if customers are buying multiple items.
It's not right to be using your pictures, contact ebay and let them sort it out.
-
Huh. I guess the person figured, "Heck, the pony's no different than when I bought it, I'll just use the old picture." Which I guess I could understand if actual material was being recycled instead of a digital file...and if it were, you know, not against the rules. Silly seller.
-
I hope that you did report them for what they did! That is not right :( And congrats on getting top seller :)

I've had this happen to me too, for random G3 items. For all I know photos of my stuff still get re-used. The auto-report is the best way to go and then eBay can slap the seller down.
