I dunno these threads are so fun to read and I like watching films. :P And I'm going to see the Hobbit on opening day and I'm STOKED. (Sherlock as Smaug and Watson as Bilbo...WUT?)
What was the last film you saw and what did you think of it?
Feel free to talk about TV show eps too. I guess you can use spoiler tags if you feel like it  But maybe don't read this thread if you don't want potential spoilers. I don't want the whole thread to be spoiler tagged!
Ok, the last movie I was saw was Wreck-it Ralph. It was so awesome. All the female characters were fierce. I highly recommend!
Just to give this thread some more meat, the movie I am still in the process of watching again is The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition. I haven't had time to sit through it straight cause of finals. >_< But on this rewatch I realized how rushed and Hollywood-ized the film is. Everything seems to go waaay too fast and so many details are left out! I try to think of the films as their own beast because they just can't touch the real story in the books. :P However I love some of the character designs, like Gandalf and Aragorn (even if they make Aragorn scruffy with his stubble...idec, because he's hot :lookround:). How do you feel about books becoming films? I always have high hopes that my favourite moments will get into the film and of course I want it to be a solid & awesome film. But I try to think of films as separate things because there's just no way to shove entire books into a 2 hr. film and keep EVERYTHING intact. I would prefer a really AWESOME movie that takes some liberties :D I have the book for the original story.
For Xmas I asked for Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Complete Series. I have only watched some of s1  but the characters are so genuine and likeable. I highly recommend this series!

:wonder: *tries to remember the last theater movie watched* Was it Lion King 3D? Or maybe something after that?
Last television show was Canada's Worst Driver last night. I totally did not expect it to end the way it did!
-
I think it was Home Alone on tv a couple nights ago. I liked it fine.

A classic! Dang, now I need to watch that again! Holiday isn't complete without Home Alone!
-
Exactly!
-
We watched Stolen with Nicholas Cage in it on the weekend, Far out it was not as I expected! Thoroughly enjoyed it all the same!
-
I watched a movie on NetFlix called Chained.
It was good until the ending. I hate when that happens. It's like the writers don't know what to do so they just throw something together.
-
Mmm... last movie I saw at the cinema was 'Brave', I think... taking our eldest daughter for her birthday, so that was a while ago! The last movie I watched on telly was the first half of Love Actually - which seems to be compulsorily repeated on our screens this time of year. It's still very cute though - oh... that scene where Emma Thompson's poor character stands alone in her bedroom...
-
Last movie I watched was Elf! We have it on DVD, and not only is it one of my favorite holiday movies, but a general all-around favorite.
As for the theater, hmm....I can't remember! It's been a few months. If it's not a movie that my husband and I are dying to see, we just wait for it to go to DVD.
-
The last movie I watched was Brave on DVD. Last TV epsiode was DR. WHO - The angels take manhattan also on DVD
-
My husband and I saw Wreck-It Ralph last night and it was a great movie^^ We really enjoyed it especially since we had the theater completely to ourselves.
-
I went to the theater on Monday and saw End of Watch. I had no idea what it was about so I had no expectations. The idea of the story was good, but I can't stand "home made movies" kind of filming (I have no idea what it's called in English). I was dizzy within five minutes and considered leaving a few times but stuck it out. The end of the movie left a lot to wish for.
Last thing I saw on TV was a marathon of Dollhouse episodes on Netflix. I think I catched five of them in one go! ^^
Tonight I'm gonna go to the theatre and see Intouchables with my grandparents. I've been wanting to see it for some time.
-
I watched a late-night showing of Casablanca a couple evenings ago :)
-
The last film I saw at the cinema was twilight-breaking dawn 2 which I loved and cant wait for the dvd:) last night I watched die hard 1 which is a perfect Christmas movie x x
I also plan on going to see the hobbit between Christmas and new year x
-
Cinema: "Life of Pi" such a wonderful movie, I hope it gets an Oscar!
TV show: Dexter or Vampire Diaries on the computer
TV movie: "Brave" on the plane
-
The Help on DVD last night! I read the book by Kathryn Stockett nearly a year ago, and it was a delight to watch the film! Truly heartwarming!
-
I watched Spirited Away yesterday. That movie always cheers me up.
-
I made Mr. Skeen watch "A Stranger is Watching" last night as punishment for being 45 minutes late getting off work (I had to sit in the car in the parking lot and wait for him).
It's not bad, a little tame by today's standards, but then again the book it was based (rather loosely) on was written I think in the 50's, so it woudn't have been as sensational anyway.
-
I came home from the cinema a moment ago and as I said earlier I watched Intouchables and it's really a heartwarming, wonderful movie. Just as beautiful an good as 'everyone' has said. I truly recommend it to each and everyone!
-
Great posts guys :D Please keep sharing! I'm looking up the films I don't know and I already have some ideas for news ones to watch!
@ Honeycomb: I don't know the story of "Life of Pi" but I thought about seeing the film. Does it have a religious message? (I tend to dislike those kind of films.)

Haven't been watching a lot of films recently, though I last evening I did finish up Scrubs for the third time. I hadn't sat through it in about three years, it was nice to re-watch. Though now I'm stuck with that empty feeling you get when you finish a really good series of TV. For the past two months, I've been killing time by watching Scrubs. Now, I need to find another show to watch when I have 20 minutes to burn.
Scrubs is really great, it's got a huge heart and a really likeable sense of humour.

I have seen a lot of really funny gifs from the show. Is it generally funny/light? I could use more shows like that!
-
Last new movie watched, MIIIB! Yes....!
Last new episode a tv show, Once Upon a Time...
Last new movie at a theatre, Dark Shadows...
I need to crawl out from under my rock some time...
-
Goats, and yes I thought it was quite good, despite some not-so-great reviews.
-
that is all I'm doing these days, watching online films or series.I'm recovering from a knee surgery ,it will be 6 weeks, so 3 weeks down ,3 more to go.
I saw "vampire diaries " on hulu.
watched a lot of movies and documentaries on netflix too
one that i liked was a documentary about an asian country (Myanmar )under military regime for the last 48 yrs , it is incredible how all the circunstances combine for this to happen, the people religion is very pacifist and they just go on accepting the life as it is, some protests have happened but they get killed,it was sad and very touching how people live with so little and manage to still exist.

It's a comedy first, and drama second. It's a really heartwarming show, though not all at once. There's a seldom a moment where it hits you all at once, but throughout the series the characters develop really well, watching their relationships grow will definitely make you feel all warm and fuzzy.

That sounds like something I'd really like to watch. I need warm and fuzzy in my life. I think I'm going to check it out. Thanks!

The last thing I watched was a movie with my mom last night called The Hike. A truly awesome horror movie. We both loved it.
-
I love Scrubs!
I watched Rizzoli and Isles, then before that West Wing.
-
I've been watching through Metalocalypse over the past few days, and just got all four seasons on DVD today for my birthday. I have a lot of good memories of watching that show with my brother, so it will always be dear to me in a weird way. Plus, it's absolutely hilarious to me (if you're not adverse to cartoony gore, dark humor and dirty jokes, it's worth looking in to!). I can watch an episode multiple times in one day and still laugh just as hard as the first time. :p
I've been watching the Toki-centric episodes most. Toki is the best!
-
rise of the guardians-loved it!!! now i'm going through and reading the books.
tv- reaper. season 1 episode 8. love this series. in the middle of rewatching it.
-
Ask me again tomorrow, I have tickets to the midnight showing of The Hobbit in 3D on the IMAX screen. Cost me $17, but totally worth it (I hope). I love Tolkien and The Hobbit is my favorite book of all time, so I have been super excited for this.

so jealous!
i have heard that it moves really fast. so sitting farther back will prevent motion sickness from the 3d.
enjoy!

The last epic movie I saw?
"Rise of the Guardians"
My heart felt like it was going to explode. NO movie since, "Santa Claus", back in 1985 has been able to make me believe in the spirits of the holidays like, "Rise of the Guardians", has been able to.

totally agree!!! not only was it great for Christmas, but self discover, action. all out amazing.
can't wait for the rest of the books to come out (13 in all).

I saw The Hobbit tonight. xposting my post from the Hobbit thread!
I just saw it tonight. I had some issues with it. Even more so than the trilogy, but I think I'm looking back on that with rose-coloured glasses. I mean, it was entertaining overall, but meh probably wouldn't spend the money to see again in theatres.

I was really disappointed. I ws expecting some changes, but they changed pretty much everything except the basic storyline, a lot of which had no reason to be changed. It was like they tried to turn it into an epic action movie, which it's just...not.
I agree! I felt disappointed. There were several "moments" where it was like, 'They're doing it right!' But overall it was like...how many rock slabs/wooden catwalks/trees can we break in half and surf down on?!
-
Rise of the Guardians.
Was good, but I predict it won't help the books to become more well known (haven't read them myself). Basing a movie on a not too well known book never works in the book's favor. :|
-
The Hobbit. It was so good I got emotional and teary-eyed by its epicness.
-
I just finished watching an episode of Dexter from season 2. I was watching the latest season only to realise that I don't remember a lot of things they are referencing (I watched Dexter as it was coming out, so first few seasons were years ago) and decided to rewatch them :P must say it's worth it as I don't remember 90% of the stuff going on.
As for the movie, I watched Inside Man last night on the bus, I was coming back from the game we played in the town up north, and the bus was crawling due to the whole north being covered by snow. Luckily, the film was entertaining enough, although I'm generally tired of such films.

The Hobbit. It was really good. :)

have to disagree. we've sold a ton of the books since the movie was announced.
not many people had heard of how to train your dragon before that either.
i did find out that the movie happens 200 years after the first book takes place.
i've been reading them since i saw the movie and really enjoying them.

Saw the hobbit last night. Pretty good.

Same thing happened when I was a bookseller and Kung Fu Panda came out, based on a pretty small paperback series.
I've been watching Happy Endings lately, but I last watched SNL.
-
Ted and although I found it hilarious, it may not be for everyone.
-
End of Watch. I watched it last night at a friend's behest.
Mockumentary-type movie about two LA cops. Was great and shockingly accurate.
-
Rise of the Guardians a few weeks ago in theatres. Home Alone tonight at home. Monster High episodes for the TV category
-
As for TV shows, I guess I can say the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on Nickelodeon is very well done. I barely watch any TV nowadays tho.
-
Saw The Hobbit on Monday night with my husband and it was really good.
-
the hobbit
big bang theory
xfiles
kirsty and phills perfect xmas !
-
We watched the entire Dragon Ball Z Abridged last night. It was awesome. XD
-
The last movie I saw was Skyfall.
And It Was Awesome!!
I am a huge James Bond fan and it's a tradition that my Dad and I always go see the new one together in theaters.
Which makes it kind of extra special.
It's great so I would recommend it to everyone.
-
We saw the Hobbit 6 nights ago and it was really good. :)
-
Oh, I love the extended versions of LOTR. <333 Their only downside is that the additional content makes them so darn long!
The last movie I saw was Ice Age: Continental Drift, and to be honest, I wasn't very pleased with it. I felt that the producers were trying a little too hard to make it comical and ending up making it rather idiotic.
-
...Watched Prometheus a few nights ago. It was ... Something!
-
The last movie I saw in the theater was Wreck-it Ralph. Loved it.
The last new (to me) movie I watched on Netflix was Casa De Mi Padre. Will Ferrell speaks pretty much entirely Spanish, and it's very spaghetti western-ish with parts of Tarantino and avant garde cinema thrown in. Pretty funny too.
-
Just watched the 2011 Doctor Who Christmas special... And now I'm out of episodes to watch on Netflix.
What am I supposed to do with my life now?!
-
I had a mini doomsday party last night and watched the movie Take Shelter, which is fantastic and everyone should see it.
-
oh that would be the anime paprika I loved it I read about it years ago and finally got to see it. On top of that I finally got to see the movie freaks that was good.
-
Saw Wreck-it Ralph two days ago and LOVED IT! :)
-
Les Miserables made me cry so much !!!!:) kinda long and heavy but loved it :) The songs and images are still in my mind .
All the actors sing in it :) a must see I think if you like musicals and classics
-
Wreck-it Ralph. Absolutely. Amazing.
-
Wreck-it Ralph. Absolutely. Amazing.
I'm with ya right there.
Boondocks-Stinkmeaner's Hiteocracy(something like that)...never knew they would go far beheading someone...o-o (btw, series is NSFW!)

I loved the Les Mis movie too ^_^ It's been my favorite musical for so long, so it was great to see it finally made into a movie.
-
Just saw the new Karate Kid last night. I really enjoyed it!
-
I watched Craigslist Joe Tuesday night. Best documentary I have ever seen. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a reminder that humanity isn't lost and the world is full of unique and interesting people.
-
The last movie I watched that wasn't a rewatch was Make Mine Music - sometimes I manage to forget just how gorgeous Disney animation is, especially the older films. My favourite segments were: All the Cats Join In (love Benny Goodman & I love cartoons where they are being 'drawn' as you're watching, if that makes sense), Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnet (Andrews Sisters! And anthropomorphic hats falling in love!) and The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met.
The last tv show episode I watched was of Lewis - I loved it because I love that show & murder mysteries in general.
-
Warm Bodies
I wasn't expecting too much, but it was wonderful. Great love story and very funny. Plus...zombies.
-
We saw Django Unchained yesterday and it was amazing! Chrstoph Walz character was absolutley fantastic! At some scenes I had to look away because it was too brutal for me, but the rest I just loved.
-
I saw Side Effects last weekend :) I also watched Pitch Perfect a few nights ago :) I liked both :)
-
I saw Warm Bodies the other day and I loved it! Had me laughing throughout and almost made my eyes well up once or twice. I rarely go to the theater but I actually feel like I want to go see this again (on another $5 movie night, of course =P ). I also want to read the book. Go see it! =D
-
I saw Wreck-It-Ralph, though it was pretty awesome. :D
-
The Last Movie I saw was Rock of Ages I loved that movie alot it is really good I love the songs they used on The Movie.

-
Argo. What an awesome movie. I like tense movies, though. Arkin was superb.
-
I finally watched Jules Dassin's Night and the City last night. I've been meaning to watch it for years. What a fantastic movie.
-
Just watched Hotel Transylvania the other night :) Cute movie!
-
Last movie I watched was Liar, Liar. Finally got to see it in its entirety. Last show was......the local news.
