Title: I Gave My Kids a Terrible Present...
Post by: LuvlyMelody on November 22, 2012, 05:15:47 PM
...is the title of the videos I wanna show everyone here!

So Jimmy Kimmel made a Youtube Challange for parents for Christmas time. Tell your kids they can open one of their Christmas Presents a few days early, but you give them a terrible one (which is a joke gift of course) and record their reactions and post it!

I Gave My Kids a Terrible Present (http://youtu.be/q4a9CKgLprQ)

I Gave My Kids a Terrible Present Part 2 (http://youtu.be/yWXKUPt7a-U)

Would any of you ever do this to your own children?? Do you plan to pull this onto your kids this Christmas? XD

I'd share some of my favorite moments, but I don't wanna ruin it for everyone who hasn't seen it yet. lol

Oh god those were so amusing. xD

My favorite was the "3DS". His brother loving his present was great.

I'll trade the kid for his ponies if he doesn't want them!

Wow, the last clip on the first part. That kid's got quite a mouth O.O

And that kid not appreciating ponies... Obviously, they need to show more western dramas on TV. You know, to get kids to play cowboys and bandits again :3

I know right?! I was laughing when the kid was like: "I got Ponies?!" and from how it looked, they looked like G3 ponies! XD If they were G4 ponies, the joke would've been on his parents. :P

lol some of them made me laugh, but most of them kinda got me worried that kids these days think that Christmas is mostly about getting presents and toys. >,<; (Except for the one who got the potato. XD)

I watched these a few days ago... I almost pee'd myself I was laughing so hard!

he has some other funny ones about doing things to your kids - like trying to convince your kid that it's healthier for you to chew up the food for them before they eat it.

I love the little girl with the half eaten sandwich.  She was absolutely adorable!!

The little girl with the banana was great too.

I loved the kids who were such good sports.  I think that if you're so sweet about an awful present, you deserve a REALLY good one later.  The ones who had tantrums get coal.

I had to watch the other videos.
The candy one was great too.  "I ate all your candy" no you didn't *kid pulls out a box of nerds*.

Oh I agree with you completely! Some of the kids that were appreciative of their "presents", deserve a great present even though they're already happy with the stuff they got as a prank, other kids who were rather very bitter, or even violent about it, they don't deserve anything but coal.

On the first video at 1:40, I thought that was adorable.
Brother: "You should appreciate-"
Sister: "I appreciate her getting us a present, I just didn't know it...was gonna be like that..."

At least she would've wanted a higher quality of a food present, like a hot pocket, and one that hasn't been half eaten. :P

My parents ALWAYS make this kind of jokes with presents, birthday or holiday! And me and my little brother NEVER had the nerve to scream like a pig like the boy in the clips.... If a kid gets such an outrage tantrum about a present...my gosh...how about he gets 16/18 years old and want a car from his parents and they gave him the wrong one....does he shot them???

We got stones...potatoes...old socks with holes in them...carrots...or things we already had where wrapped up and put between the real presents! And we always laughed or butt's off with these jokes! :-)

lol the beginning of the 2nd video, I was like: "You're crying, but you've got a whole $5 in your hand, you can buy more candy!!"

At least some of those kids were fine with it, a little upset, but fine with it, like the end of the 2nd video.

Ma favorite moment:
Mom: "Sorry Sierra, we're eating all your candy"
Sierra: *Starts hopping around* That's ok.  *Still hopping around*

This one was pretty funny too. lol XD

Hey Jimmy Kimmel I Unplugged the TV During the Game (http://youtu.be/KMmqqKV49cg)

Oh thank goodness!  My family is not the only one.  We always got some very odd things.  We still hold this tradition by wrapping up things we have found.  Last year we gave my mom eels from the grocery (which all of us will eat except her) and my sister got seed pods I found in the woods.  I can't remember what my dad got or I got.

But even as kids, no we did not have tantrums.  With the exception of when I was about 5 years old and was given a toy that was super scary and I cried because it frightened me.

I LOOOOVE the two little boys at the end of the first Halloween one.
The older one seems really smart and logical for his age, and the younger one is adorable. XD

The little girl in the car saying "Well, but maybe next year we can SHARE my candy" That is too cute! Or the little boy saying "I just want you to be happy, mom"

I love those parts too!!

On another note. I'd be one of those adults that goes crazy if my TV got unplugged while I was watching the Pats play.

I don't think I'd ever do that kinda stuff to my kids but I love some of the kids reactions, the ones that are happy to get potato or to let their mom eat their candy... those kids are so awesome!

I liked the boy with the potato who was grinning and showing it off while his older brother complained about the letters get got instead of a real game system.

LMAO!  I guess it must be a really common boy reaction to throw dolls across the room, because when my brother was 5 or 6 my dad did that to him.  I don't remember what his real #1 major present was that year, but Dad wrapped up a fakie Barbie doll for him and gave that to him first and he threw it across the room, lol!  Yes, I probably would do this my kids, it's pretty funny, lol!
