Title: MLP Castles
Post by: Raindrop on November 05, 2012, 10:00:44 PM
I'm curious about others' opinions--which do you think was the best castle playset Hasbro ever made?  I'm kind of partial to the G2 castle, and the G4 Royal Wedding one isn't bad, if a bit minimal.  Thoughts?  Pictures?

I think that the new G4 one is kind of boring. G1's seem to have the most details and things going on.

i  dont know the new one.. it just  seems  kinda..  i agree boring..  there isnt much to it really.. its just  flimsly  littl epieces of plastic..

i  prefer dream castle THAT was a castle!   though  2ndly i  like celebration castle (g3) and the  pop up rainbow castle.  (g3)  that hting is HUGGE!

i had a dream castle adn a show stable.. but thre  gone :( got lost  in either a fire  a flood  or a bad hurricane.

but hands down was dream castle. it was  awesome and it  had cool accesroys.

I only had the Dream Castle - I found parts of it the other day while going through my boxes at my mom's. I found pieces of it anyway. Still missing domes and flags, Spike and accessories. Hope to find the rest of it soon.

I only own the G4 Castle, which is used by my 4 and 2 year old daughters to play with.  It's very flimsy and I am always sticking turrets/flags/doors back on. It infuriates me, especially as this is supposed to be a child's toy.  I'm currently looking at it and it has 2 side turrets unattached, no flags/banners attached, no butterfly or doors attached!

I am toying with the idea of buying them a g3 castle which they can play with as they look so much more sturdier and fun!

Celebration Castle is my favorite. The balloon makes no sense, but I love it.

Dream Castle hands down :) Followed by PE! It's a child's dream playset, it's so big!

I love the petite castle- so much detail for a tiny playset!  And I also love the elevator that lights up when it is pushed to the top.   I already have some pics of mine...

I think the G1 castles because the few I have seen (do not own any myself) were very detailed and nice. I have the G4 castle but can not commet on that one yet as it is still in the box but it looks pretty simple and not as much detail.

The G4 "castles" are made of cardboard.  Sorry, no comparison to previous generations is even possible.  :-p  But like I said earlier, Dream Castle or Paradise Estate.  I personally like the Dream Castle most, though.  Childhood memories!

Dream Castle :) Original and the best [although on scale the Petite Castle is adorable as well!]

I'd say the G2 castle, although I've only ever seen pictures of it.
Props to the G3 Celebration Castle for its outside, which is gorgeous, but I'm not thrilled with it overall. although mine is missing a lot of pieces.  :P

Dream Castle all the way!  It's always been my favourite playset.  I actually never wanted to get PE because I was so mad when the Ponies replaced the Dream Castle with it in the Movie.

I would have to say that it's the G3 Crystal Rainbow Castle. I got it just recently but it's so gorgeous in person and awesome place to display ponies on :)

ETA: Here it is in svarta-perlans's place before I got it from her:

I have 2 /3 of the gen 3 castles and am working on building paradise estates I am missing a ton of parts though. I would love a dream castle some day though.  I really like the petite one too, I am not so keen on the gen 4 castle though it seems kinda underwhelming to me.

I don't actually own any of them (and won't until I find them thrifting) but my favorite us Dream Castle just because it's a classic - although I think I prefer it in lavender.  :)

I like the Dream Castle but I think I'm biased from my childhood! I used to use it more like a backdrop and use books to expand it to an giant walled palace. So much fun! Loved the drawbridge and the little basket for Spike.

The petite castle seems so cute, it's a lot like the Dream Castle but it looks easier to play with (more room) maybe?

The G2 Castle looks lovely with it's staircase!

The G3 Castles seem like they'd be fun too. I've only seen Celebration Castle IRL and liked it except for the crown, it was a blendy, I liked how the balloons could land on top though, very fun to play with I bet! The Crystal Rainbow castle is cool for how you can compress it for storage.

Ummm... I think I like all castles :P but I do think I like the Dream Castle the best. It was simple yet the details were enough. The hinges always broke on the sidewalls though which was disappointing... but they could still be propped up enough so you didn't notice while playing!

I adore the G2 castle and hope to own it one day.
I also always liked the Crystal Rainbow castle but it never got released here. Instead we got a re-color of the Celebration castle. >.<

The Dream Castle definitely! I was so happy when I got it, I'd always wanted it as a kid but never did, so I'm loving it now. I love Paradise Estate too, I need to get that someday :)

I think Hasbro  should have come up with a nice park Disney like , just watching this add of the castle ,where the kids go into the Estate, it could have been the bomb in the 80's and even now I think ,Canterlot and Ponyville could be built and made into an awesome park but maybe Disney will do it if they acquire them.

I've fully explored my G3 or G4 castles, but I think Paradise Estate will be my favourite. :) of course some day I'd like to get Dream Castle too.

I would definitely make it a priority to go to that park :D That would be awesome.

Does anyone have pictures of the G2 castle? I don't think I've ever seen it.

I'm still holding out on an actual castle for G4. Until then, I DO want the Wedding Castle.

As for current favorite.. G3 all the way. LOVE that one. Would love to have it one day.

The only other G3 castle I can think of was the rainbow princess castle, which as far as I know was an international replacement for the crystal rainbow castle. I'm not an expert on G3, though, so hopefully someone with more know how can correct me if I'm wrong.  :)

I love my G3 castle that grows.  So far that one is my favorite.  I also like the Teapot Palace for the Ponyville Ponies.  Remember that is a castle too.  The G4 castle isn't the best built toy, but it's still nice.

Should not have looked!  We have Celebration Castle, the G4 one and several G3 sets.  Put together, DD has Ponyville.  ;)  But love the look of Crystal Castle.

Dream Castle of course. Don't have it (yet).
Does anyone have pictures of the infamous cardboard castle set up?
