Title: Selling ponies and other 80s toys on Etsy?
Post by: Elisto on November 04, 2012, 07:25:38 AM
I have a mix of ponies and other toys from the 80s, and I'm wondering how well these kinds of things sell on Etsy. I've listed sales here on the Arena in the past but have had mixed results since there's so many people selling, it's difficult to get your sales noticed for more than a day or two.

I have an Etsy account and have tried (mostly unsuccessfully) to sell some crafts and vintage jewelry, but I'd like to hear from anyone who has some experience selling vintage toys.

sorry i cant help you much but i always buy from there :D i love fixed price sales and mostly everyone is so honest and friendly, it also really helps to have a post price for  'everywhere else' so anyone can just buy without having to wait for a post prices to their country :)

You may get better advise over in TS perhaps? Although people do sell just about everything on it it was and still is more of a creative selling space as you say, so I don't know lots of people who sell ponies there. Although of course there are some sellers, I ll admit that primarily as a buyer, its not somewhere I would automatically head to when shopping for ponies.

Have you tried your own store? Through sites like ecrater or just a free hosted site with adverts in your signature here and on any other forum you use? I know a couple of members on here do that already although you could do something similar with an etsy store as well.

I've sold 3/4 of the G1's I've posted for sale on Etsy. As long as you price them reasonably and combine shipping, people will snatch them up quickly. It can be hard to get established on Etsy for crafts, but ponies do sell. :)

I've been selling ponies on Etsy for over a year now. 77 of my ponies have found new homes.  As long as they are priced reasonable they will sell. Sometimes you will have a slow period of not selling anything but eventually every pony will find a new home.  :)

I was also thinking to use Etsy as pony sell place!

I love etsy and would shop there for ponies if they weren't so overpriced most of the time. I have bought two from there for a swap, though and loved the process alot more than ebay. If they are priced fairly, I think they should sell.
