Title: Your opinion about this "strange" italian pony
Post by: SoSilver on October 25, 2012, 09:46:57 AM
Hi everyone!

I've been contacted by a person that sold me ponies in the past because he wanted to sell me another pony.
I remembered this pony from an auction of 2 years ago or so, and i bought it just out of curiosity.

Today i've received her and here she is:

At first i thought of a Frankenpony, but i've checked her and her head it's firmly attacched to the body and the colour is a perfect match.
The strangest thing is that her head, after i've conperad it to the head of my italian yellow Moondancer, it appear to be huge!

Here's a (bad) comparison pic!

What do you think of her?

Thank you for your opinions!

Posey's body/neckline doesn't seem to fit with the MD head..

I'd think it's just a Posy with MD head, but who am i to judge? ;)

How delightfully strange!

If you are certain her head is factory sealed I guess she's some kind of factory mix up? Of course that doesn't explain the head size.

I'd think it's just a Posy with MD head, but who am i to judge? ;)

That's exactly what she is, the question is more, why?

Thank you for the opinions^_^

The head/body that doesn't fit is a regular thing on italians, that's why i am not too worried about that, and yes it seems factory sealed, but i don't know how to check it for true.

And it's the size difference that intrigues me^_^

how very, very odd!

her head does look big compaired to your other moondancer  how does it compair to other italian's with the same shaped head? like moonstone, regular moondancer and windy :)

how does her body compair to regular italian posey's body? is she the same colour or slightly different?

i am thinking of other odd head italians such as italian seashell and bubbles with CP heads, but they have the correct manes. also re-unicorn has the head swap going on, as does white moondancer, however they all have the correct hair. this girls mane is wrong  if her mane was pink i would be convinced.

i wish we knew how to do kcats glue test!

That is an odd one! My instinct is a yellow Moondancer on Posey as well.... I had been going to suggest it could always be an HK head, but the hair does look Italian, so probably not.

hehe, silly me ;) maybe the factory worker who put this pony together back then thought it was supposed this way.
After all; colors match so that seems like an option to me :)

Very interesting! With the CP head Bubbles and Seashell, I could be convinced this was intentional but when that happens the head is rooted with the right colour hair as you know. In this case perhaps if Moondancers head was in Poseys pink then that would have been a great sign of proof but the mane/tail difference suggests more a factory error at best and a frankenpony at worst.

With the difference in head size, could it just be a variation in the mold? I think the factories would have used multiple molds for each pony part, so that's a possibility. The Italian collectors pose ponies have such a wide variety of mold shapes, sizes, & foot markings that I wouldn't be surprised to see differences in other ponies, as well.

That is an odd one! My instinct is a yellow Moondancer on Posey as well.... I had been going to suggest it could always be an HK head, but the hair does look Italian, so probably not.
Also HK Moondancer has purple eyes & Italian Moondancer has blue eyes.

I think it's a case of wrong head stuck on the body. If only there was an easy way to test the glue.

Her streak looks odd too, like it's placed a bit low down her neck and falls low; it also looks like its length is a bit longer than her mane.

Is she stamped Italy too?

KPF I was wondering about her hair as well!

sosilver is her mane the same length as regular yellow italy moodancers mane? :)

I also like the look of a walking Unicorn... too bad it wasn't easier to do a glue test, would love to know if this was someone later or an inventive factory worker!

I really like her!!  The only other thought I had is someone cast/molded thier own head from the regular size one which would make the size difference, but she would be an evident rehair and not stitched in mane. I am curious as to if the mane is stitched in or not? Unless an off company tried their hand at making a few ponies, but then Posey's body would be bigger too if the used it to mold from? Or left over parts, as we have seen it before?
