Please help, I'm new and can't figure out how to post pics in my post. Thanks

You'll need a site to upload to. I use photobucket myself. You go there and create an account. Then upload whatever photos you want following their basic instructions. (upload button- select file to upload- etc) Then they have a list of image codes you can pull from. Here on the arena we use this code without spaces [ img ] url [ /img ]. You can write it out by hand or hit the picture icon on your bar in post preview. The url of the image goes in between the tags. So:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
And the coding looks like this without spaces: [ IMG ]http://i831.photobucket.com/albums/zz240/sarahlacewing/image.jpg[ /IMG ]
Now here is a screen grab from my photobucket where I uploaded the above image. Once you have it uploaded you can select the code you need. I have labeled the areas in red.

If you already know the url of the photo you want to link you can just insert it. [ img ]The url of the picture I want to use[ /img ]
However, the arena doesn't allow hot links and are very careful about using photos without crediting/permission so do be cautions. :)

I think Sarahlacewing has it all covered. But yes, you do need it uploaded online somewhere (Photobucket, Imageshack, Flickr, etc), and then you link to that using the IMG tags.
Feel free to ask any other questions or test it out here. :)

Ok, I have a photobucket account. So I am attempting a test. Wish my luck.

Looks great! Now if you need extra help (like how to code the picture so it is also a link, or how to code the picture so that it falls within certain size criteria) just let me know. If you decide to upload an avatar or a signature we do have rules about their dimensions and file weight. Normal pics don't have the same regulations. This stuff is tricky you are doing great!
