Title: Ponies with bangs
Post by: Sunset on September 27, 2012, 08:22:56 PM
So I've seen several posts recently that mention that the early releases of the G4 ponies with bangs are sought after?  If so, how much are they going for?

I ask because I recently saw a couple at a local drug store and I was thinking about picking them up for trade or sale.  However, they cost $8.99 at the store and I didn't know if it was really worth picking them up.

They'll have a separate row of plugs in the front for bangs that are shorter than the mane. BLossomforth was never released with bangs either.

I tried searching on ebay for finished listings of Twilight to see if any with bangs had sold recently and I didn't find any within the first few pages.  But there are so many listings for Twilight what with the plushies and all of the other regular releases of her.  It was hard to wade through.

Strawberry Reef is good place for info, ex. http://strawberryreef.com/Index/Name/twilightsparkleFIM.html

They'll explain it per character, I believe it was the first mane 6 singles and their early playset versions that had it.

It reminds me of the Star Wars figures Hasbro made where they had lightsabers longer than the figure was tall.

Thank you ;)  I actually own one with the balloon.  What I'm considering is whether it would be worth it for me to buy a Twilight Sparkle for $8.99 from a local store.  Are these sought after enough that people are paying that much or more either here or on Ebay?  Or are they not worth anymore than the hundred other versions of TS out there.  I already have an unintentional army of TS so this would be totally for resale/trade purposes.

I have seen some of the posts here where they are looking for the "bangs "versions of them ,I'm sure there are more people looking to get all the versions, also they look for the "walking version " or the "standing version" so  i would say yes :)  , even with the hair tones, some people look for the "light pink" fluttershy  and so on

Fyi, bangs Twilight and AJ were released in playsets, RD was not, therefore, she is slightly more sought after as only in single release did she have bangs. (and combo pack with RF)

I wouldnt say she is worth it to be honest. No doubt you will find someone to give you perhaps her retail price but not more than retail - she isnt technically worth more than that.

To put it simply the first wave of playful ponies [and the first batch of the second wave of ponies] as well as the first batches of some of the playsets, story packs, vehicle assortment etc, have TS, AJ, Cheerilee, SB and Dash with bangs.

Yes, there is the odd collector looking for these ponies still with bangs but no one should expect to pay more than $5 or another couple of $ max for them. Mainly because although they were the first wave these ponies were pretty plentiful at the time and there are so many in the hands of collectors I dont ever think they are going to be super rare or hard to find in the future.
