Title: New Doll - extremely unorthodox, but adorable.
Post by: Echo_Shell on September 25, 2012, 02:09:57 PM
I've been toying around with this idea for a while, but before today I had never found a...body that was well enough articulated to work.

Here's Beatrix dressed in BFC inc. clothes.  A work in progress.  Eventually I intend to give her hair and possibly eye makeup/various other touch ups.

Okay well thats just down right scary.  I am pleased you love it, but I couldn't have that in my house LOL. It would give me nightmares.  Chances are really good that will be walking by itself in no time. :scared: :bolt:

O.o

that is interesting! I am not sure if I should run from it though...

I think a black or a white wig would be neat on it :)

I think that is an awesome idea. I love the skeleton and I love her boots. Where did you find such a neat skeleton? I may want to steal borrow be inspired by your wonderful idea! :D

Beatrix is a Walmart Halloween decoration so there's no need to steal her and her boots came from a BFC inc winter themed fashion pack.

omg that is so awesome! I wish Halloween was bigger down here, I've never seen such a cool skeleton as that or else I'd have one dressed up too!

OK, now I know where to get the skeleton.  What size clothes does s/him wear?  'Cause now I need one or more of these.  Someone is a bad influence...   ;)

She's wearing BFC inc. clothes.  That is, they're for slender 18 inch dolls.  Large Bratz Babies clothes may also work, when it comes to skirts and such (as I've occasionally had my BFC's wear them).  Other than that you'll probably have to make them yourself.

Maybe it's just because I'm excited for Halloween, but there's definitely something endearing about her.

She's definitely getting a wig, but I'll have to find one that'll fit her first.  Not sure if I'll go with something spooky like long black or something more typically girly...or colorful.  Have discovered that her right hand has a defective middle finger.  The tip/last knuckle is missing!  So....I'll paint the rest to look like they have nail polish and leave that blank.  In addition, I'm looking into ways to provide her even greater articulation...like replacing her joints with chain links or something.  So much to do!

Oh my goodness, how neat!  I love her name and the outfit, it's so un-spooky!  XD  I think a girly wig would be hilarious, especially if you're going to paint her nails.  I like her.  :)

She's awesome! I so adore Halloween decorations (or as we call them in this house, just decorations - they stay out all year round!).

Picked one up this morning.  Target's "Our Generation" doll clothes fit.  A touch roomy, but she is a skeleton after all.  Checking the website, there is a lavender tub with bathrobe and shower cap set.  Very tempting!  ;)

Thats awesome! I bought 3 skeletons around 7 years ago and I just dug them  from storage. They are 12'' and can fit barbie clothes! I'm working on how to bend their knees so they can sit

Do you think a Monster High wig would fit?  DD claims it's creepy, but can't stop playing with it.  Kitty is confused by the floppy feet and keeps trying to kill them.

I don't think MH wigs will fit without modification since they're really about the same size as LIV, which is still too tight.  What I'm thinking I'll do is cut slits in the back of the wig to allow it to expand a bit where her skill bulges.  May or may not work, but we'll see!

Found an outfit that sort of fits.  After the hair tie to keep the shorts up, and a few stitches to make the hat smaller.  I found GITD Modge Podge.  I REALLY want to try that out on her eyes.  Us, weird?  Yup!!

Kat (wife) has suggested that I simply rehair her the way I would any other doll and so that may be what we go with.  I'm thinking thick, straight, black hair.

How do you rehair a doll?  Similar to a pony?

That's what I'm assuming.

You'd need to put holes in her head, obvs, but I'm just curious how one would go about doing that?
And LOL, you started a trend. I don't think my mom would allow me to keep one, haha. Especially not with a sister terrified of creepy dolls and another one who hallucinates.

I think I'll stick to hats and scarves.  I did GITD her eye sockets and nose area.  Too cool!

As far as how I would do it - I would first plot out the holes with an ink pen.  Then I'd create holes, of course.  Then I'd use my wife's rehairing tool to push in the plugs.  Then I'd either detach her head  or drill an inconspicuous hole in the back of her head into which I will squirt enough glue to keep the hair in place.  I'd then allow to dry, et cetera.  Lotsa work...maybe I'll just find a cute hat...

Or a bandana with hair glued to the inside edges?  Glue the hair between 2 pieces of ribbon, then inside the bandana.  The hat I got needs to be smallerized and a bit of elastic for under the chin.  Kitties ya know.  ;)
