If it's not ok to have a thread to post my reroot jobs, then uh...I expect this to be deleted but tis better to have a single place than cluttering up other places, neh?

Experimenting and trying to keep my costs down when it comes to hardcap CaMs. I think I have the problem licked ;-)
The thing about is that my usual positioning for werewolf girl ears so - i had a head that came of ebay that had a few rough patches I decided to experiment on. I didn't wanna waste any of my hair either so I just used hair from the wigs (took a whole wig and about a third of another) and decided to try a low placement.

This werewolf girl used a dollar store doll's scalp. it's a bit flat but her hair is so big and awesome you'd never know.

I call her Gabby Hobgoblin because of her rough spots and big hair XD and her ears

she tickles me for some reason and I'm half tempted to keep her. I bet with that hair she'd be amazing as a future ANTM model XD She doesn't have a torso of her own though.

More experimenting. This time using a stock wigcap. It works I just need to perfect my technique.

Nothing really makes her a Fox rather than a Wolf other than I liked the way the name flowed :D
A botched Opal Essence mix finally came in handy for something. She came with no torso and her ears haven't been glued because my glue sucks.

Hey Ravie, I gather that you mostly use saran, but have you done reroots completely in nylon, and if so can you show me? One of the dolls I want rerooted I really need to be able to heat style her hair, and nothing works quite like nylon. I have a few other dolls in the works that I have already started with Nylon, but I haven't gotten far and don't have a good idea of what a whole head would look like given the difference in texture.

I'd never consider changing it, though. She seems to like her new hair too. :silly:

The lighting in my living room is wayy too bright to properly show the texture, but it's extremely soft and ..Flippy.
Compared to ponies I've rehaired in saran, it's actually a bit softer to the touch. You just want to keep petting it.. * A*;;

So it's basically the same. The texture is noticibly different when working with it, but I've gotten to where I like the end the end results. I prefer Saran because of it's weight but Nylon has more colors and is more easily susceptible to heat, so if you need to use it, go ahead.

So, last week sometime grzankitter contacted me asking if I could transplant some curly hair from a Moxie Teenz wig onto a Clawdeen head n I was all like, no clue, send it over and let me have look. Turns out I could ^^ I like it :D

@Tuney - no, it was an incredibly fiddly process of knot-tying and snipping and threading my needle XD as for Gabby, you can have her (for a price) but remember that she doesn't have a torso, but I was trying to see if I could get one made for her but dms_a_jem is on vacation atm if you'd rather wait awhile. I also seem to have misplaced an entire set of werwolf limbs. I have too many heads and not enough limbs! She isn't going anywhere else! I'm having too much fun with her. She was supposed to guest star in non-contestant challenge 8 but it's been raining since thursday >:[ I like my wilds of Scaris dry. I'm also working on your GB Clawdeen now.

@Saply - yes, she's pretty boss. I was pleasantly surprised after i got to going how nifty she looked

holes poked and glued the same as Elana, but the glue seems to be holding better since they rest against the head more flush. The scalp is also glued in but it's also held on by the plugs of her hair so it's not gonna like, fall off or anything XD

nope, but really it wasn't that noticible. Maybe try the zit cream method? I've never tried it but people swear by it.

5 days later and I couldnt recall who was doing it..
I had been tearing my CAM up as well trying to plot if a barbie scalp or some liquid latex or something could help but space cadet on actually figuring out if it works...Finally got some hair so on with the trials LOL...xD

what method do you like using to rehair them?  I'd read somewhere that the rehairing tool method wasn't a good one to use.  Didn't know that at all!

@ligress - i'm still experimenting, but dehairing default wigs and using them is an option that's usually at hand

@TexasGal - i prefer using the knot method. Almost everyone else here uses the tool with glue but I just don't see that being a route I'd go. I haven't heard of anyone having problems with it but my method is plenty secure, plus i don't get hair everywhere

Ravie, your rehairs are awesome! So nice to see what you have done. I think that Bryoni Pendragon is my favorite so far.  :)

If I am ever gonna buy any CAM -dolls, I will rehair them too! I don´t have them yet but maybe one day...

She took ages because I mixed each strand by hand so it would look right. You can't tell but her hairline is a widow's peak. I am so freakin happy with this improvised mix! Platinum Blonde, Flame Auburn and Copper Auburn.

I poke holes for the thicker posts and leave blank areas for them. I usually glue them down but my super glue is dried up and i haven't gotten any more, so Raven's are just being held in because of the holes that's why one is is slightly cockeyed.

around $40 + hair and shipping tbh. The color mixing strand by strand takes time, and unless you just happen to have a soft head, i'll have to scalp transplant her (luckily i can use wig caps for that. cost saving at its best XD)

It worked for awhile, but her pigtails and the fact that her hair was too thin on top bugged me, So i hacked off the tails and added a good deal more pink hair into her hair (i was out of the purple) then I hacked it off even more for this fab A-line bob. I'm getting better at styling. Maybe one day soon I'll even offer it as part of my services.

I thought you were pulling out the hair and starting from scratch.  Glad to see you kept the original color.  It's so pretty, and just perfect on her.  I also like the added pink.

Did you have to glue her hair down to keep it so sleek?  I'm wondering what she looks like fluffed up :lol:

No glue just hot boiling water plus that purple has a sleek texture. I dumped the water over her head then wrapped it in saranwrap then freezered her for awhile and when i took the saranwrap off it stayed sleek. It will probably fluff eventually but i prefer it sleek

Garboyle Brooklyn Lane is finished!

He was rooted in a mohawk style with Snow White and Platinum Blond Saran. Yes, I did scalp replacement surgery on him. I set the hair to fall to the left but it could have gone either way. I'm thinking about trimming it a bit. I also removed his lips and altered his eyebrows.

Brooklyn looks amazing Ravie (i'm a fan just been too shy to say anything before now but i really love your reroots) The colours really suit him and its amazing how different he looks with slightly altered eyebrows, it gives him a whole different look/personality :)

Ok, so finally something to show off. I was working on her before Christmas but she went on Hiatus when I did XD I finally finished her:
I was supposedly making a witch for my CaM collection but the more I worked on her, the less she was a witch. She's now Elmily Woods the Dryad. I cab't unsee this. I don't need a Dryad at the moment (maybe if there was a satyr guy :3) so she's available. She's all Saran, a mix of Rosewood Auburn and Russet Brown with Mahagony Brown streaks.

It worked for awhile, but her pigtails and the fact that her hair was too thin on top bugged me, So i hacked off the tails and added a good deal more pink hair into her hair (i was out of the purple) then I hacked it off even more for this fab A-line bob. Newest root. She was kinda experimenty so she's not my best work (sadly) but she is available (without a torso as that's how she came to me)
I was trying my hand at cutting bangs and I succeeded fairly well, and I think she's cute enough. I used Nitro Lime Saran from RestoreDoll.

Green one of my least favorite colors but lots of people like her with green hair and I needed to see if the green was the same as they use on Clawdeen (it's not) so two birds, one stone

Ravie, I love the mix of hair that you used for this Rochelle. But it's so difficult to see the whole picture when it's so big. I mean that eye sees a beautiful mix of the hair, but can't see how it suits to the doll. For example on this size of picture is easier to see. This way I see Rochelle with new hair, not only hair :blush:

I guess we all have our preferences. I personally love seeing the large pictures. A reroot is the main focus of the picture, so I want to see the colors in all their detailed glory. Especially if the blend is as subtle and stunning as this one is. The small pictures loses half of the colors.

The harpy and witch both look amazing.  I am in love with the witch though.  The bright pink popping through the black is... just wow!
