Yay! :) Thanks for sharing these photos Mapago. I've been debating on which Celestia to pick up, but it looks like I'll be waiting for the white one now that I know she's the real deal.
Pinkie Pie's just going to plague me now, lol. Every time I get rid of an extra, another set seems to pop up with her in it that I want. ;)

Yay! Hasbro you're finally doing something right :D :P I did pick up a prototype of that white Celestia a little while ago though, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna buy this one to keep with Pinkie in their box :P
You can never have too many Pinkie Pies because she just loves to make you smile, smile, smile ;)

Yay, this is awesome! So glad to see that Celestia is finally white (and has her chest piece), as well as Luna in a smaller set. Celestia looks so gorgeous white, her hair colors really pop now. Love the blue tinsel on them both, too.
Now to decide if I should wait for these packs for Luna or get the Crystal Princess set like I was planning to... it'd be a no-brainer if the princess set didn't come with everyone having glitter on their wings and horns, curse my love of sparkly things. :lol:

Do we know for sure that Crystal Empire will be Target Exclusive?
I think this will be more like the Wedding line, which was everywhere as far as I know.
Kind of the "theme of the year", the way G3 had "Crystal Princess" or "Butterfly Island" ponies.

As far as I've seen here in California, the Crystal Empire items have only been found in Target. TRU has other exclusive items. :)

Well it completely sucks if they're gonna keep producing an entire line of ponies that only Target will get >.< Hasbro won't be doing themselves any favours if they're gonna limit their releases that much O.o

Actually I don't think the whole Crystal Empire is going to be Target exclusive. The Canterlot set was a Target exclusive and the "Only at Target" tagline was part of the Canterlot logo. The Crystal Empire stuff that has been appearing at Target has had just a normal red "Only at Target" sticker affixed to their packages. Which is another thing that makes me doubt these two are Target exclusives. Even on Taobao Target exclusives have the "Only at Target" mark on them.
I wonder if Cadence will be coming with Twilight or a new version of Shining Armor?

Love these, now I have 2 more sets to add to my every growing list of Ponies I want. I am still buying the 3 princess set but now I may keep it sealed beause of this new Luna set. Also agree they should come with new and not a member of the main 6 or come a set together.

If Cadance pops up in one of these as well (and better yet, if she isn't sunburnt), then I can certainly ignore that three pack with stawberry Celestia in it. That would be good at this point.

I can understand the exclusive pony idea, but to make an entire collection exclusive is kinda silly, they'd sell a lot more if it was available everywhere

I wonder how rare Pinklestia will be in years to come. Considering the fact that so many were painted white. I guess it depends on how long white Celestia will be in production.

I'm glad I won't have to buy that Target princess set now! However, I do not need yet ANOTHER Pinkie Pie! Although, I'm lacking Rarity so that kinda works out. Let's hope Cadence has Shining Armor packaged with her and not Twi... already have two of her. Don't need any more!

And the only thing I can think of that makes them have Pinkie with Celestia is the Pink factor. They want her out, but package her with pink so she has a 'higher' chance of sales. Between us collectors and the Bronies, I think she'll be just like Ditzy and be 100% sold out! XD
Also non-sunburnt Cadance with a Brushable Shining Armor Please? No troll hairs please? Pwease? Or Cadance with Chrysalis? I'd be uber happy with that too!!

I have the Luna that looks like all the other G4's, she was released with a large Princess Celestia. But as much as I don't usually like having a lot of variations of the same character, I might have to get this one. And the White Celestia is a definite want!.

I honestly dont know. But hand on heart I am coming down on it being a Target line for a couple of reasons. I do however hope I am wrong.
So here is my contradictory argument..
The Wedding theme is a 2012/2013 line. So a Crystal Empire line should be 2013/2014 - but we are seeing CE items in stores now. If the CE line was supposed to be 2012/2013 we should have seen it at the Toy Fair where Hasbros job is to actively promote their product line to potential retailers but there was no sign of this line. It launched alongside the Wedding range so it clearly was in the same production schedule. In fact we saw a lot of CE items before wedding ones. There have also already been cross over products - FS Cadance & SA - who are part of the wedding line. Target like toy exclusives and have already had a successful run with Canterlot.
At the same time there seems to be an awful lot of CE product out there at the moment and very little of anything else so its an awful lot of product for one retailer unless others are not picking up much of the line. The Crystal Empire does appear to be getting a mention in Season 3 so are Hasbro going to go all out for one retailer? Although if it is only mentioned in one episode then perhaps its only a little boost.

Yay, at first I was like "bleh, same old Rarity and Pinkie" but they actually do have different eyes at least. Their eyes are the same style as the new Fluttershy's eyes.

HathorCat, I think the Crystal Empire will be in more than one episode, as there's a DVD planned called "Adventures in the Crystal Empire."
Personally I still think it will be the new theme, there are too many Crystal Empire ponies for it to be a store exclusive, IMO.

I genuinely hope you are right - the line seems really dominantly slanted towards the CE line but I ll wait until we see them perhaps in actual stores or with wholesalers.

I think this is likely the case. We've seen enough of crystal empire to know it plays some sort of significant role in the show, significant enough at least to warrant a whole toy line, so it being the season opener would make sense to me. Especially given the timing of the line's release which will hopefully coincide with a date for the new season soon.

Hasbro certainly wouldn't provide exclusive rights to Target if they weren't making a profit by doing it. Target is making a gamble that the payment will pay off, because some people, like collectors, will have to come to Target if they want these toys. And the average parent shopping through the toy aisles will see this giant MLP display and it will catch their attention.
That being said, it's really hard to say at this point if the whole line will be Target exclusive, because there has been a LOT of Crystal Empire toys popping up. Target are definitely heavy hitters in the world of sales, including toys (Hasbro is not the only company they have exclusive agreements with) but I don't know if they'd buy rights for this much of the production line! It certainly seems like a large percentage of the MLP toys coming out will be of the Crystal Empire line.
Only time will tell, I guess!

Oh I have no doubt Hasbro is making profit of it even though it's only limited to Target at the moment. However, only releasing something in one specific store in one country should with all logic say that it will make less profit than releasing it worldwide where everyone can buy it.
Unless you Americans are serious shoppers who do spend enough for the entire world :P

Target may simply have paid for US [and perhaps Australia] rights. Hasbro would be daft to let them tie them to an international exclusivity when they only operate in 2 countries - thats a market limiter.
Canterlot Target ponies have shown up in various retailers across the globe - I would hope the same happens with some of the CE line.
