Title: Funny pony names
Post by: Luxrayx on August 31, 2012, 11:18:46 AM
I can't help giggling at some pony names. Boogie Woogie, Bunches-o-Fun, Dibble Dabble, the list goes on. They make me giggle, but Flippity flop really cracks me up
What about you? Do you know any funny pony names?

I always thought Tootie Tails was funny!

Or Snookums?

I can only think of G1 names off hand, but Squeezer, Floater and Woosie have always cracked me up.  The name Floater makes me think of 2 things, and neither of them are good, lol.  What were they thinking?

Two words:

Lady Moonshine.

Here's a couple I find amusing:

Ponies: Tootie Tails, Toola Roola, Sand Dollar, nearly all the Newborn Twin ponies, Pillow Talk (my inner pervert is laughing like mad at this one), Swirly Whirly. And I guess that's kinda all: I can't think of any more names at the moment.

Another name that I find amusing that is not entirel pony-related is... Duck Soup, the name of the brown duck that came with the waterfall playset.

I mean, really... who gives the name "Duck Soup" to a duck? That's the same as naming a pig "Pork chop", or a chicken - "McNugget". XD

Or maybe it was meant as reference to the Marx Brother's film from the 1930s? XD

Floater never ceases to crack me up.  I actually bought her simply because her name makes me laugh.  XD

Whizzer is another. :lookround:

My Floater became a homicide detective pony, because... well, that's a type of body you can find.

I was also gonna say Squeezer. I've been cursing my Squeezer for misleading me for years, thinking she was Bowtie and saying 'that JERK Squeezer' is so much fun.

I always thought Applejack was a funny name, given the amount of lame puns you can make with the word "Jack".

Morning Glory.

*cracks up*.

Yeah I'm immature, and what?

Floater. Avalonia reminds me of bologna. Daffidazey and Daisy Paisley make me want to hurl. Royalette=toilet. Many birthflowers are too hard for kids to pronounce. Then there's Rhapsody Ribbons. Who came up with that name? I guess she just really loves ribbons.

Pillow Talk cracks me up. Hasbro got downright naughty there. Hollywood's also kind of a funny name.

Port-o-bella. Is Porta-Potty not a thing where they name these things? Because that's what that sounds like. It's not like the fungus is called Port-o-Bello; it's just Portobello!

Gigglebean, Cute Curtsey, Keen Bean, Soakey Dokey, Rhythm and Rhyme, Scootaloo, and even though I love her, Shenanigans is a weird name too :P

I just picked up Frilly Frocks.  Why is her cutie mark a mask?  Blossomforth?  Methinks the powers that named them just pulled two words out of a hat and ran with it.  :)

Player and Swinger, two totally eighties lounge lizard pony names.

Tipsy Tulip (does she know Lady Moonshine?).

(I wish they would bring Shenanigans in G4, simply because her name is SO appropriate for silly ponies!)
How about the UK versions of the Sweet Kisses ponies, they have SUCH suggestive names! Kiss and Make Up? Candy Kisses? Kiss n' Tell??? Dang, ponies! I guess they can hang out with Pillow Talk. :P I like to theorize that they had another friend, but she ended up becoming Surprise Twins Mommy, so they don't talk about her anymore.  (I know, I'm terrible!  :P )
Let's see, Tootsie is pretty funny. Another vote for Woosie. Seawinkle, because "winkle" is a funny sound. Also Brights Brightly. That is the silliest name I've ever heard!

This thread reminds me of one time: years back, when I still collected Beanie Babies, my Aunt called because she found a new one, the white mouse named "Cheeser." She left a great message on the machine where she was laughing so hard she could barely say what the thing's name was, because apparently that was slang for a fart when she was young.

Another one for G2 Tipsy Tulip and Lady Moonshine.

I now have to agree with those who say Floater, Pillow Talk, and Kiss n' Tell.

The gastric sounding ones always amuse me: Windy, Floater, Gusty :P

And who names a drink n wet Baby Splashes?! EW!

Woosie, Whizzer and Speedy for kids toys is also a bit 'hmmmmm' :silly:

I don't get what's funny about Floater. Can someone explain? I'm not a native English speaker, maybe that's why. :p

Whizzer is another. :lookround:

Enough said right here! I mean really!

I also always giggle at all the Tarts, like Pumpkin Tart :P  and yes, Gigglebean - the hell?

Sandi: not sure how to answer your question appropriately but I guess it´s better than to get you to google it :P

Spoiler
Floater can refer to a body found floating in a body of water (like someone murdered and found in a lake) but it also (more disturbingly) refers to a, erm, faeces that floats in the toilet and refuses to get flushed

I guess I'll explain, Floater can be a word for a poo that simply refuses to go down the toilet!

Morning Glory also means something very different and naughty in UK English, that doesn't mean the same in US English but that is far too naughty to write on here!

There are a few other names that are a little rude in UK English too, like Spunky the camel, is kinda gross too... And then Lickety Split, Cherry Treats etc just sound like they should be living in playboy mansion rather than Paradise Estate!

There is that game you can find online, My Little Pony or, er, 'Adult Entertainer'? It's fun!

Yeah, I think "Spunky" has the same double meaning in US english. I know I for one am never very comfortable saying "Spunky the Camel."

I cant believe it took til page 2 for Spunky to be mentioned...

But I will admit I always think Swinger and Player are genius names. Just shows how language can evolve over such a short period of time.

Yeah, she's the one that can't hold her liquor and ends up doing something embarrassing at the bar or wanting to go home early.

Why Steamer?
Here's another one: Quarterback's show name is "Score".

Sometimes people refer to a really unpleasant or painful or stinky evacuation as "steaming."

Pillow Talk is my favorite of these names. You can't really take that one another way.

Post by: Calico_Star on September 07, 2012, 07:40:57 PM
I just looked up "pillow talk" on urban dictionary and I will never look at that pony the same way again XD;

What's wrong with Morning Glory? I only know it as the flower.

Besides the usual (Whizzer, Floater, Tootie Tails, etc) the one I always thought was kinda..."off" was Streaky. That one brings a few unpleasant brown images to mind... >_>
