That's right, you heard it hear first!! These gals have traded their ponies and stilettos for cowboy hats and boots! And they are ready to duel it out till the end!!!
It's hard to tell when this may end so we need your help! We need to know when you think the two of these rascals will hit 15,000 posts.
All you have to do is post each one's name below and a time(GMT+1 since both our gals are abroad) and date when you think they will hit their goal!

Hmmmm...I think I lurked for the first 12 months or so :P...mainly as sometimes its nice to know what you are talking about it before you talk about it. But I had been collecting before I discovered the Arena...can you believe I was actually once not aware of its existence :faint: and once you start talking you just cant stop :P
Party I sense we need some challenges...like the Krypton factor during this race :P So its more an assault course than a marathon :)

Okiedokieloki... I had worked out that hathorcat would hit 15k in 378 days, and partypony566 in 237. But that's rather a longish contest, and now that you are both in friendly competition, it's not going to take *quite* so long. Hand on heart yes...and I can tell you when. I missed an auction for MIB Highlights and Ringlets - they both sold for around the bargain price of $125 each and I missed them by about 30 seconds because I fell asleep at the keyboard. It was an auction in the middle of the night and I went back to bed and actually sobbed - pathetic? Yup!

I decided as it was raining and there were children in the Viking village I would not ask for a "viewing" of this bottom...
He was also only about 5ft 2 in height which he assured me was how he got the part as seemingly Mel Gibson is equally as short...I did not want to comment that [by this time having remembered the bottom scene from Braveheart] I somehow thought "height" was probably not of significant importance.

That's comforting to know. We always try sooo hard to wait until October, and we always fail. But as my husband said yesterday when we were shivering and just about to give in to the temptation of a warm house, "There's no point in being miserable." Then we wound up on the sofa under a shared blanket eating Magnum bars. :lol: How's that for irony?

Well I have a problem with damp in my flat so as soon as it gets cold and starts to rain I try to put my heating on for a little bit each day so that by the time it's properly cold it isn't impossible to warm the flat up. Last year I hung on until November and then I couldn't get the place warm and the icky walls were worse than ever!
Also I only have electric heating so it's such a pain cost-wise if I have to leave it on for hours and hours.

Yes, this is the time of year when our battle against the cold and mould commences. We struggle so hard to ward off the damp, especially with three children. Our house is a mid-terraced flat, so in that regard our neighbours help to warm us on either side, but even so, it is tough to keep warm since our row of flats is raised up off the ground. Nothing below us except a thin layer of carpet or vinyl flooring, wooden floorboards, and the cold air shafts swirling about underneath.

I'm in the St Andrews area. :) My husband did his Master's and PhD at the university, and also teaches International Relations, Philosophy, and (for the first time this year) Sustainable Development.

It's from the series of very old tapestries called "The Hunt of the Unicorn," which they are currently recreating at Stirling Castle, Scotland. Each tapestry takes two years to weave and embroider. Marigold, that really is a great idea! I don't know how to make adoptables myself, but maybe one of these days I will beg someone to make me one with a Nessie monster cutie mark. :)

Icecream cake used to be half cake half ice cream with a thin layer of frosting type of icing and real frosting used as any decorations. I loved it! But now all store bought icecream cakes are a thinner graham or crumble crust with the "cake" being all solid ice cream and a few puffs of whipped cream on the top as the decoration/icing. There is no longer any real cake involved. Where did the "cake" in ice cream cake go? I thought the whole idea was to have your cake and icecream all in one, but now you just get a big solid slab of ice cream with a few little crumbles under it and some slimy puffs of cool whip style whipped cream.

We also don't really have frozen yoghurt over here, which makes me sad. When I was in Texas earlier this year I went to a frozen yoghurt place where you get different kinds of it from giant dispensers and put them into a pot, then add toppings and get it weighed before you pay. This is probably a terrible description, :lol: it was great though, they had peanut butter frozen yoghurt :biggrin:

Generally-speaking, eggs are safer in the UK than back in the States. Most people still don't go out of their way to eat raw eggs here, but if they did they'd probably be fine.

Last night I went to my friends for dinner, we ended up getting food from a veggie takeaway. It was awesome - Sezchuan 'prawns', satay, spicy 'beef', oodles of crispy seaweed, and loads of other stuff, all veggie and made from soy protein. Soooooooooooo lush. Did I mention it was lush?

I tend to be okay at guessing. Last year I guess the date of my friend's baby's birth. Although the only reason I picked it was because it was my own birthday. Just so happened I was right! So her little boy and I share a birthday. :D I didn't win anything out of it, but it was kind of cool. :D

Enola, she's a beautiful custom. I love stars AND pink, so that's a winning combo in my book. ;) Also, those wings are amazing! Not that I should be surprised -- the artist who made her is incredibly talented. I know why you feel the need to explain that you don't wear pink all the time. "Rainbow" is my favourite colour, and yet my house and wardrobe don't look like a bag of Skittles exploded in them. ;)
My pony persona was inspired by the lovely Marigold. I hadn't really given thought to what it should be and casually mentioned in passing that I'd like to create one someday. So she suggested Nessie based on my username. Awesome.
A little back story: from an early age, my parents instilled in me the art of being a local tourist, so while I LOVE to travel, I've always made a habit of exploring my own environment instead of purposely looking elsewhere for adventure. To be fair, I have often lived in or near tourist destinations. ^.^ For the last seven years I have had the privilege of living in beautiful Scotland, though many Scots would disagree. "The rain!" they say. "The cold!" they exclaim. "Don't you miss living in the U.S.?" Ummm.... nope. I love the rich green landscape, the changing seasons, the animals, the blend of history and modernity. Not to mention the sea and the castles! And haggis! Yes, really. I love haggis. :) So... since I'm an American mom (as opposed to mum) living in Scotland, the name lochnessmomster seemed like the perfect fit. Oh, and I am also a greyish-tan unicorn in honour of the Hunt of the Unicorn tapestries, which are being recreated at Stirling Castle. I love unicorns. So, voila, my ponysona. :P (bet you're wishing you hadn't asked me now, eh?) :lol:

Yeah, I love stars too, the idea for her partially came from my love of G1 Sunblossom, whose name I didn't know as a child so I just called her 'Star'. The wings are amazing, aren't they! She said she couldn't do wings either! Very impressive imo. Coinoperatedgirl called her Starfall which I really like too. It's an MLP-type name without being silly.
Amazing! I love Scotland too, but then I live in a fellow-wet-place so the rain doesn't really bother me. Have you been to Loch Ness? I would really like to go, it looks so pretty. :)

Ha, that's hilarious! No, I hadn't seen it. I adjusted my settings to not see people's signatures unless I actually click on their profile pages. Seeing everyone's sigs for every post is sensory overload for me.
It's awesome, though. I love that we're officially racing now. I don't really care who wins, but it's fun to have a bit of friendly competition and I'm sure we'll get to know each other a bit as we're racing to the finish line. So it's a win-win as far as I'm concerned. :)

I'll be working in the National Assembly For Wales. It's awesome because it's a real permanent job and not a rubbish temp one, like all the other jobs I've had so far. Also hopefully I'll no longer be working with idiots :lookround:

There's an enormous amount of office politics, basically it's like some sort of soap opera most days, if I told people the sorts of things that happened they'd think I was making it up. Still, plenty of fodder if I ever want to write a novel!

YAY for palindromes! I got very excited the other day when we had a palindromic date. The other people in my office were like :lookround:

It's not easy being an American in another country for Thanksgiving. Back home, the grocery stores start stocking the big turkeys and all the traditional fixings (which, I'm embarrassed to say, include mostly tinned or packaged items like Durkee French Fried Onions, Jet-Puffed marshmallows, Libby's pumpkin, Del Monte green beans, Ocean Spray cranberry sauce, etc., etc.). In the seven years we've lived here, we've only had a "properly improper" Thanksgiving meal once, in 2007 when it coincided with a visit from my mom and she packed everything in her luggage apart from the turkey. ;) Sadly, most of the time it's just our little family (though occasionally we invite non-Americans or get together with another American family to celebrate). No clue what we'll do this year. :huh:

Do you have pumpkin over there to make pies and soup? The pumpkin crop here is really good this year. They like dry weather it seems. I'd really miss pumpkin, even the canned kind, if I lived somewhere where they didn't carry it.
Pumpkin pie and fresh cranberry sauce are two of the things I cook really well and look forward to making.

@lochness - have you visited Lupe Pintos in Edinburgh or Glasgow? Their stock isnt amazing but they have a reasonably selection of American groceries in store - from Muskateers bars to Libbys pumpkin :) And I think you may even be able to buy from them online.

I have a friend who lives in London, she is also an American originally, and she always does Thanksgiving at her house. She has a lot of people living with her though and she tends to invite lots of others too so they have a good gathering. Lochness - I hope you manage to have a nice Thanksgiving this year :)

There are pumpkins at the grocery stores this time of year, but mostly for Halloween (and the stock and quality are often lower). If we want a good selection of pumpkins, we can go pick our own at Cairnie Fruit Farm. :)

Someone else mentioned them once upon a time and I went to their website, but we've never seen the actual shop anytime we've been in Edinburgh or Glasgow. Granted, we haven't purposely gone looking for it, either. The prices aren't TOO horrendous, but we usually opt to go without or use a substitute. Also, the longer we're here, the less we hanker for American goods. It just stinks sometimes when it's Thanksgiving and it's hard to find certain things because it's not a Scottish holiday. That being said, it's wonderful to inherit the wonderful fall holidays America doesn't have, like Bonfire Night and St. Andrews Day. And there's still Christmas. :) Ooh, and Boxing Day. :P

Aww :cry: that's the thing, I don't break up til crimbo :yikes: just constantly doing assignments :argh: hopefully I'll get used to this...oh and for half this week I've been building furniture, all my new stuff turned up this week so I had to get it done.
