^ The question is in the title.
Mine is the name of an old OC of mine who I no longer use; I just thought her name was pretty, so I've just been recycling it. ^.^
-
Evie = real name
Corn = unicorn
I know, creative, right?
-
I love Hawaii and Hawaiian/islands type things and love rainy days so, that's how the name came to be. It just happened to sound like a great name for my Pony OC as well.
-
[img2]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v219/TRCapp/SDSbadges.jpg[/img2]
It's the name of my former square dancing group, based in Whitehorse, Yukon. I thought it was unique, and could almost be the name of a pony, so there you go.
The irony is that people thought I meant stomping on bread, when in reality, "sourdough" was what old Klondike gold rushers of the day were called. But since giving up wheat and grains back in February, I am more likely to stomp on sourdough bread.
-
My cat Jiggles is a cat, so, JigglesTheCat. :smug:
-
I chose Bow Tie because she is my favorite G1 pony. <3
-
Very much the same reasons as you Sundown: I originally used my username as part of a RPG years ago - back in 2006 ... and the name stuck, so I pretty much use it everywhere online, it's all I'm known by.
-
Ooh, this is interesting ^.^
Candy: My bright, sweet, maybe a little sickly personality xD
Bang: Boom, kerpow! I'm a little hyperactive it sometimes seems, and comic sound effects amuse me. As would jumping around in Willy Wonka's factory, which loops back to 'candy'.
-
I picked mine after my favorite G3 pony back in the days. Desert Rose :) Can't even remember what I used to call myself in the pony community before that XD Don't think it even matters now though since that was well over 5-6 years ago :P
When I joined the MLP Arena a few months ago I figured I might aswell keep the username to make it easier for people to recognize me.
-
Izrabeth is the daughter of my OC Illasera (which is me).
Izra come from Izrador the evil god of D&D Midnight as Illasera was devoted of that god
Beth as I would name my daughter Isabel, variant of Elizabeth so diminutive Beth :P
-
angela = my name
22 = figured that angela by itself would probably be taken, so i added the date of my birthday to it
fascinating. i know, i'm boring. lol
-
kitty- I am an avid cat lover!
Bethy- my name
I love being called KB!
-
Many years ago
in a land far, far away I needed a new username.
I found the Japanese word "yurusumaji" which translates to "unforgivable". It makes sense to me. I've lived a life where I left behind a lot of anger and a lot of people who will never forgive me. I try to live my life better now, but I know the ghosts of my past will follow me forever. The name is unusual and I love it, so there you have it. If you ever see a Yurusumaji on any other site, it's 99% most likely me.
-
Sarastus means dawn/daybreak in finnish.
My real name is Saara and my ex called me Sarastus years and years ago and it got stuck to me and since that it's been one of my internet names :) If im not Sarastus, i'm Saarameow or Nessae ^.^
-
My name is from my favorite video game character of all time: Marona.
In the game, Phantom Brave, at the beginning, the people called her "possessed" because of her ability to talk to Phantoms. Regardless, she stayed positive, kind, and helpful to everyone.
Reminded me of me...so...:P
-
i love Egypt and i love dragons so the name came naturally to me plus i would love to be an ancient Egyptian dragon :silly:
-
My husband started calling me ponylady.
And actually between Babe and ponylady, I have not heard him call me by real name in years. >_<
-
For me its after one of my favorite Annette Himstedt Dolls...Tula. I have her and love her to pieces. You can see her photo here.

:B complete gibberish name that I randomly typed way back around early 2007
(I was Spaz on the arena till about a year or two ago. Finally changed it when I had more than one person PM me and tell me the name was offensive =_=)
-
for a user name so dumb, mine is super complicated. Back in the day, Marvel comics had an online email server, where you could have an email address with (yourname)@(marvel related thing). I was fairly young at the time, and really into x-men and pokemon, so I chose [email protected]. I then signed up for a username in yahoo chat, and as eevee was already taken, I chose to take the x- from x-men and make it x-eevee (or x_eevee because hyphens weren't a valid character). I used yahoo chat for a long time, and when I started branching out into the internet I'd just use variations on that. Here I am xeevee because it would accept hyphens in user names when I tried to sign up.

"Taro" is my favorite type of Boba Drink/Bubble Tea, and I like "Milky" foods/stuff. As for "Mochi", I always liked how Mochi (the ones with the leaf on the top) looked since I was a young girl (back in my anime-obsessed days xD).

What an awesome thread!
I'm Rachel, but went by Raye for a long time and "del sol" means "of the sun" in Spanish, so I am a Raye of Sunshine :)
If you see a rayedelsol or raydelsol [or on flickr reidelsol - Rei is pronounced "ray" but in Japanese] that is 99.99999% likely to be me :)
-
Alternate spelling of ribbit. I like froggies. OK, it's more or less a made up spelling. ;)
-
Well in the process of filling out the membership info, other names I would try were already used so I just shortened my first name and added my last and I don't remember putting a 1 on the end but it's there so must've been a typo on my part :)
-
Everyone's "back stories" are so cool :D
-
Mine is taken from the Megadeth song. I like the song and it's a euphemism for death ;) I stopped leaving a space between Black and Curtains years ago because I got tired of having a million variations when a form wouldn't allow a space OR an under-dash. Running the two together saves me from forgetting which "BlackCurtains" I am at various sites
-
I just stole the username of a person on YouTube that I enjoy watching (charlieissocoollike, I added the uppercases to make it easier to read) and used my name instead. Look out guys, creative person coming through.
-
I am an invader zim fan so that is how i have my first half of this name i can also be found lurking/posting on regretsy as well. invader_horizongreen is one of my alibis on neopets. on top of that horizongreen is actually split from two magical gemstones from the dungeons and dragons choose your own adventure book series. The book is #6 revenge of the rainbow dragons. the two gems in my name are storm green and horizon blue i broke both in half and made the other half of my name. much to my amusement someone neomailed me and told me horizongreen is a hotel chain and real estate company in japan , who knew ! XD oh any my oldest pet my uni is twilight indigo who is also named after one of the magical stones too.
-
I created the pony first. She was named Kiwi because I randomly decided to put a kiwi slice on her butt. I had just coloured in the outline for fun, and it grew from there. :)
-
Well, it's a long story.
My current nickname first came into use in late 1999.
The RAM part is a two way joke- meaning computer memory (back in those days, I was already a known computer geek among my friends and family), but also Rugrats, Arthur and Madeline three of my most favorite shows (at that time, and still is). ChYLD are letters from my real name.
Prior to this, I went by the name of Moogle82 for a while. I don't think any explanation is needed for that name except that 82 is my birth year.
In 2002-2004ish, I actually tried adopting a new name - stripedhamdonuts (striped-ham-donuts - referring to Shimajiro, Hamtaro and Do Re Mi Fa Donuts). I guess I didn't like it as much as RAMChYLD tho, but I do still use it as an alternative name on certain services.
-
Well, my birthname is Rose (I go by Jean now, pronounced the French way) and I was quite little and looking at Shakespeare stuff and came across Rosencrantz and I was all THAT'S ALMOST MY NAME OMG OMG OMG. And I rather liked it, right? At the time my online name was 12345jinx, and I was looking into something new.
Then I came across this exchange from the based on Hamlet play, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead:
Rosencrantz: Do you think Death could possibly be a boat?
Guildenstern: No, no, no... death is not. Death isn't. Take my meaning? Death is the ultimate negative. Not-being. You can't not be on a boat.
Rosencrantz: I've frequently not been on boats.
Guildenstern: No, no... what you've been is not on boats.
And that was it, I was so enchanted I've stuck with Rosencrantz nearly two decades now.
Trying to make a Rosencratz-pony persona right now, am nearly done I think:

Mine doesn't actually have a meaning. :D I sort of whipped it up like. ugh..in 1999? I didn't even drink then but I did like elves and fantasy things. My birthday is on the 26th of march as well. So eh it just sort of fell together. 13 years of the same username, criminiy I feel old now. But at least I never have to worry about fighting for my sn, which can be a total pain in the patoot I understand.
-
Dibbles...after the newborn twin pony...I know. Creative.
-
Ivaness is my go-to name. :D
Ivan is my son's name.
ESS just makes me think of the feminine version of some words. Priestess, abbess, druidess, the like.
SO, Ivaness. ^_^
-
It's my ponysona's name so, I use it on some pony sites. :3
-
kat is my name and kaos...well.... it's rather obvious I think.
-
Benedict Cumberbatch
-
I freaking LOVE this thread! So many times I wonder where peoples names came from.
There have been threads like this before, so I was familiar with SDS's story and a few others.
I have been though a ZILLION screen names. I have been CorspeKitten Corpsey, Nachtlicht (though not here because it was taken) but finally decided on Jinxxy when I FINALLY got my oc just right! I've never really had a solid fursona until Jinxxy.
Why the name? No idea. I'm a bit of a Jinx.. And Jazzy is my sisters OC so I thought why not?..
Jinxxy is the Jackal/hunting dog hybrid that I've made a costume of in my siggy :D She's also my fursona fur the furry fandom and my pony character (same colours and markings) too :D
-
It's my name!
I know, I'm creative x)
-
Pangel is actually supposed to be P-Angel. It stands for 'portrayed as an angel', though I normally let people try and guess what the P stands for with often amusing results!
I've had this name since I started using the interwebs some many moons ago.
-
i got the symbol for my ponysona first whitch is a heart aflame therefor i got the name aflame :)
-
I.... made it up when I was feverish and high on Nyquil.
Riveting.
-
Not a long story. That's just the name of my persona.Old-fashioned,huh?
-
I just heard the name Waterfire ages ago, and decided it was cute so I started using it on pony sites. There was already a Waterfire here when I signed up, so I decided to put the underscore in.
On non pony sites I'm Beatrix Plotter :D
-
I'm a fan of G1 G3 G4 Minty.
-
Eheheh.. I used to play a game called Transformice. When i made an account there, i wanted my name to be Luxray. You see, i collect Pokemon toys too, and my favorite one is Luxray.
Okay, so the name Luxray was taken. Once, my sister showed me a site where you could make a free site. I wanted a Luxray site, but for some reason my sister called it 'Luxrayx'.
For some reason i remembered that, so i used Luxrayx as a username. That has been my username everywhere ever since, even when Luxray has been available :P
-
I.... made it up when I was feverish and high on Nyquil.
Riveting.
:lmao:
ROFLOL I love this. This is the kind of thing I would do. I always make the mistake of getting online when I have been sick and on medication.
-
My favorite G3 is Shenanigans so I chose that for a SN :D
-
I'm studying biology at my university, and I (was, before I met some new friends) the youngest in my group of friends, the "kid" if you will.
Thus, "biologistkid."
-
Everyone has such cool backstories behind their names! ^.^
-
I'm surprised there are no other sailor moon influences here. Raye (aka sailor mars) + chu (pikachu) =rayechu. Like others have said if you see a rayechu around it's probably me!
-
Well, mine actually goes pretty far back. When I was a child playing with my ponies, Baby Moon Dancer always seemed to take on my personality. It wasn't a conscious decision, just how it ended up. I can actually remember playing with her for the very first time. It was Christmas and I got the Lullaby Nursery with NBBE Baby Tiddley-Winks, Baby Cotton Candy, Baby Blossom, and Baby Moon Dancer. I remember Baby CC and Baby Blossom both looked so pretty with their curly hair, but looked a little stuck up with their noses in the air and Baby Tiddley looked kinda plain to me. So baby CC and Baby Blossom started teasing Baby Tiddley-winks saying, in a very sing-song way, "We have curly hair and you don't!" as if they were better than Baby Tiddley. Then Baby Moon Dancer comes along and tells them off for being mean and tells Tiddley-winks she can play with her and be her friend. And from that point on Baby Moon Dancer was always "me". Then in like 1998, when I was signing up for my first email address and first user names I knew I wanted Baby Moon Dancer for my name, but decided I was too darn lazy to type out something as long as that, so I decided to shorten it to MnDancer, sometimes it was taken, sometimes it wasn't. When it was taken I usually used MnDancer79 (so far that's never been taken) so if you ever see MnDancer79 anywhere, it's extremely likely to be me!
-
lol, I've been Katika online since... uh... forever? My calculations are pointing to 1998, but could it really have been that long? It was the first handle that I used when I first started playing around online and for the most part, the only one I still use today (with the exception of when I run in to other Katika's, then I usually try to be LadyKatika or something similar). It came from a friend of mine in junior high mispronouncing a different name, and I thought it sounded pretty, so I adopted it. Since "discovering" Kat, I've also turned her into an OC (that is independent of me, despite our "shared" name) in a pretty complex fanfic that I started writing ages ago.
-
Karrie = real name
91 = year I was born :satisfied:
-
Mine I went through all the pony names while searching for my roller derby name. Ended up loving Jazz Matazz! It's catchy, and I do like Jazz music on top of it. Such a perfect fit! So at pony meets I actually answer to Jazz from skating in roller derby, it's totally my name :D
-
My username comes from my Pony-persona Silver Mirror :P
-
I love cats. I just put numbers there just in case it was taken.
-
Bascially I like stars and I like dogs. XD The z was stuck on as it looked cool, and for some reason I wrote everything in lowecase.
I made this name when I joined DA 8 years ago and it has just stuck and become my default handle on nearly every site I am on.
-
"Liszka" means caterpillar in Polish, and besides thinking it's a pretty name, I have a love for moths. Butterflies of all sorts begin as caterpillars, so I thought it was a suiting name. As for the spelling, LiSZKA, I just thought it looked cooler that way ^^
-
Oh this is intresting mines real boring and makes next to no since but I love it.
Here goes,
Gusty: favorite pony also I love windy days!
Starr: though it sounded cool and it goes back to when Ringo Starr was my favorite Beatle, before I started to like Paul more. So hence the name gustystarr.
-
My first name is Tyler so that is where that came from.
-
Michelle is my name and 53 is my very favorite number:)
-
I had to change my name when my original name was stolen for an online casino. D: Truth be told, it wasn't all that original, but it was my first handle and I was the first to claim it in most places like Neopets and Hotmail.
-
I can go hang out with Dawn and Tyler on the non-creative name couch. Salli is my name.
-
I got sucked into the band O-Zone who did the Numa Numa. In one of their songs it says,"O Lume Va Sti" which means roughly according to google "A World We Knew" in Romanian. I thought it was cool.
-
I used to keep rats and one in particular was quite the character. Her name was Zenna and I used to call her my "bug" or "Zenna Bug" when she was being goofy. When I opened an eBay account, I couldn't think of a name and she was sitting with me on my bed, so I went with ZennaBug. When I registered here, I thought I was only going to stick around to buy ponies (clearly, I was wrong about that one), so I used the same name.
Zenna:
