Title: Weirdest factory errors you've seen?

Stray bits of glue, paint and smudges I've all seen, but probably the strangest error I've encountered was when I bought the Cheerilee school set. Scootaloo had what looked like a bit of dirt on her leg, but otherwise they were all perfect and I figures it would come off with acetone. Turns out the stuff was INSIDE the plastic, and gooey. I had to use a file and pick it out.

What are the oddest things you've seen? :P

Symbols printed largely, eyes uncentered, sometimes no symbols at all, I saw one person once who got a pony with two tails...

My G1 Skydancer has her tail nearly in her hip, and one of my babies has a double tail hole.

My favorite factory error is G4 Rarity using Pinkie Pie's head mold! Looked like Discord snuck in and stole her horn! XD It even had the round Pinkie Pie eye indents so the Rarity eyes didn't match up at all. She was MIB with her carriage, too!

Off-centered eye was the only one I ever got.  I wish I had one of the cool ones you all are talking about...

I saw a load of the g3.5 mermaid pony ville sets were they had forgotten to stick all the mirror stickers on the mirror and dressers! Lazy!!!! ;)

I really like the G1 wingers somone posted recently. They had wrong color tails and different wings. Also the little winger who missed the line to receive hair.

I don't know if you can see it very well, but my Feathermay has two strands of tinsel haired into her tail.  Its kinda neat, but pretty subtle.

The worst factory I had with a pony were just some off-centered eyes on Applejack and an slightly misplaced cutie mark on Twinkleshine, nothing really special. I do like the horn-less Rarity tho!

I have a g1 Windy with incredibly thin plastic on her front legs...she dents in with the lightest touch.  I also have a g1 Firefly that looks like she was pulled from the mold while still too hot, and some of her vinyl stuck to the mold leaving a sprue... almost like the mold lines on a g4.

I found this 25th anniversary Rainbow Dash with no symbol! She has the airbrushing on her leg but for some reason the rainbow/cloud symbol never made it! I had to grab her because I figured she must be worth something to someone. She is for sale or trade. I also found a 3 pack of Breezies once that had 2 of the same Breezie in it, I bought that too, but ended up using them for custom bait.

This is actually Rarity's doing: remember how she fainted when she learned Zecora was born with that coat (ep. Bridle Gossip, I think)...? I Think Rarity couldn't take it any longer, stepped in, and gave Zecora a makeover :)

I have a pony where the plastic around the lip of her neck has overhang. When I got her you could see the seam very visibly and it looked like there had never been proper glue. It just rocked on her neck....probably should have left it. I cut it down to fit better though because I felt bad for her.

  I have no idea if this counts as a factory error, but it sure counts as weird:
  I ordered a few ponies from the 2011 McDonalds giveaway, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Celestia. All three were MIB.  When I opened Princess Celestia, I was hit with the small of skunks! Not even joking! (although when I'm being nice I tell her she smells of marigolds.) The other two were fine. Her smell faded a bit so you can only smell it when you hold her to your nose.
  It's so weird! Has anyone else had a problem like that? Did they use bad paint on her or something?

  (I also have a McD Sundance with no symbol, which annoyed me because I bought her to replace mine from childhood. Curse you, McDonalds!)

I was out of town this weekend... helping my parents out... Unfortunately my "Princess" set from Target arrived on Friday night, and had to wait on the porch thru the weekend, for me to get home. Thankfully it was still there today! WOOT!

Anywho... I finally sat down to open it up, and enjoy my new ponies... First one out of the box was, of course, Luna!

The weirdest pony I have is my dearest Feathermay. She's got a few extra hair plugs between the normal rows (probably about 5/6 extras). She's got other little things, too, but nothing that outrageous. I've also got a BB Lyra that has a seam around her face that kinda looks like a creepy smile lol. My sister's LuLu Luck's tail is two different lengths. One section is about 1/2 inch longer than the other. We decided that that's her 'lucky' tail, the source of her good luck!

I don't think that is an error. Both of my Cadences and the Luna that that I have in that mold have the extra tail hole.

I think the only factory error I ever found was a G3 with a smudged eye (from the birthstone set).  I was kinda annoyed about that, but I kept her anyway.

I've got a G1 Violet factory error! She's a sneaky one though. I found her a good fifteen years ago or so in a thrift shop along with a FF Blue Belle. The two of them were the freshest mintiest ponies I've ever found second hand, Blue Belle even had her ribbon tied in her tail. You can still see that lovely new plastic surface that has never been handled. Anyways. I've had these lovely ladies in my collection all that time and about two years ago I got Miss Violet out for a quick picture. Here she is:

Third eye!

(Look very carefully, it's hard to see against her gleaming white body.)

It seems the tamping machine jumped the gun and dabbed on the white of her eye before it was quite in place, so she's got the white paint in a perfect eye shape on her muzzle. Interestingly, she still did get the white for both her normal eyes tamped on as well.

I just checked my Castle Cadance and yes, she's got the same thing, albeit filled in (badly) with plastic... O.o

I had a load of G3s with glue in their hair, and I have a Star Catcher with odd yellow marks from her packaging.

How come no one has mentioned the tail-swapped G1 ponies yet that keep cropping up? Or the princess miss-match variants? They're still factory failures even though they are now 'nirvana' variants in their own right. I own a beloved Ruby pony nick named 'Dawn Rose' because she has Tiffany's hair and Dawn's symbol!

Almost all of my alicorns that aren't in a standard brushables like small Luna have that tail hole. u-u

To be clear, I believe that the extra 'tail hole' was where hasbro would have used to put the tail. I think they adjusted the machines to place the tails higher on newer ponies so they didn't look like they were pooping their tails!

Vinyl Scratch and ecora's eyes/glasses are just painted over a head with "normal" eye shapes.  how cheap.

Er, say what?  Well I don't have VS, I was just looking at that picture and I can see the eye indentation.  On Zecora, I can barely tell, I have to hold it a certain way.

Factory errors are best left in box so people will believe them. I can remove a symbol with acetone. I remember somebody had a MOC Boley fakie from Dollar General who only had one eye painted on and the other was blank. I looked at every Boley fakie in my DG after that trying to find an awesome error fakie.

This was a 3-pack, can't remember which ponies were in it. 2 adults and a baby maybe? I didn't buy it but took a bad quality pic with my ancient phone in the store. She doesn't have irises in her eyes at all.

it looks like the stamp in the factory wasn't pressed down quite hard enough or something..

you are right! the italian ponies were hand finished and the symbols and eyes were all hand stamped on :) this is why there is so much variantion and quality issues with the italian ponies.

i have seen italian ponies with eyes half way up their faces :crazy:

The only error I've personally encountered is my G4 Fizzypop blind bag. She's a blank flank!
