Title: UPS Tracking messed up?
Post by: Rhini on July 31, 2012, 01:44:35 PM
So I have two items in the mail, completely different sellers, assured me they shipped with USPS priority mail, and neither is showing up when I put in the numbers.

Instead I get this "Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office."

What the hay? Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, the usps.com website can go on the fritz. But also it can also take a long time to update the correct status. And I emphasize "correct" because I've had the package in my hand and the site will still say it's somewhere else far away....

I have weird package tracking status all the time!

edit for grammar.... >_<

I'd call your local P.O. and see if they can tell you what it means, I haven't a clue!

This is the message you get for insurance numbers, or tracking from another country that's trackable in their country, but not ours.

As I said in another post, I've had this issue twice lately, where a DC# was giving me this message.

Update: actually, my package that was from another country that said that just updated today :)

"Your Item's Status
We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece."

:) So don't lose hope!

That message can also come up if your seller has transposed the numbers on the DC slip. I've done it before myself so I am speaking first hand here. :)

Hmm well I guess we'll see. Generally I don't have problems with the tracking. Both packages in question are from within the US too. I'm not worried per-se, more annoyed because I like to know when my stuff's gonna get here as it's very hard for me to pick up things from my apartment's office (can only go tues, sat &sun) and sometimes usps doesnt leave their "we missed you!" note. Then by the time I find out I have to wait a few days to go get my things  >_<

I just shipped my TAF pony back today with DC and i'm getting that message on tracking right now. I checked and rechecked my numbers, they're all correct.

UGH BUGGY USPS!

AHA! So it's not an incorrect number, it's the postal service being a butt :P

I have a package from the UK that hasn't updated on the USPS website since July 23. It's driving me nuts! >_<

I am glad to hear that it maybe a glitch.  :)

Because I have spent the last two days trying to figure it out. And I could not come up with anything, not even on USPS's site.

Are there any major weather problems going on anywhere that could slow down the USPS?  :(

Not really =/ We're having an awful drought but I don't see how that affects their computer systems  :hmm:.

Maybe the heat is frying/has fried some wires or some computers.

I just wanted to check based on the topic title: is the problem with UPS or the US Postal Service. Right now I am :enraged: with USPS.

US postal service and yes I believe we are all a little  :pullhair: with them right now. The post man left my package by my mailbox instead of turning it into the office which he's NOT supposed to do but whatever I got it >.> Yay underwater art pony and Venus!

Instead of hijacking your thread, I started another thread.

Tornado.....

Modified to add:

Congrats! I'm glad you got your ponies despite the confusion.

United states postal service is USPS generally :) I think that's where the confusion is.
