There have been recent topics about Zhu Zhu stuff, so I thought I'd start this one. I was browsing the Internet for ponies when I came across a picture of Zhu Zhu ponies! I know there are Zhu Zhu babies that are ponies, but I never thought they would actually make real Zhu Zhu pet ponies!!!

They look like a mix of g2 and g4 MLP... I don't really like the idea of them, I really miss when Cepia used to make hamster Zhu Zhu Pets that were realistic colors and didn't include unicorn horns or pink and purple puppies! They have really been going down hill for a while... It looks like they are trying to copy FiM and MLP in general! Check out what they wrote in their press release:

It sounds so much like FiM! And their symbols are in the same place as MLP's cutie marks are! They are obviously trying to copy MLP!
Hasbro has done the same thing before though! The fall following the ZZP craze Hasbro came out with Furry Frenzies, which were complete copies of Zhu Zhu Pets!! Hasbro sunk really low that year, and that's why I have mixed feelings about them.
So, what do you think about Zhu Zhu Ponies? Do you consider them fakies? Would you buy one? Do you think other toy companies are taking advantage of FiM's popularity?

Normal Zhu Zhu Pets retail at about $10. So about $10 maybe?

I am wondering if they will have playsets with codes on them? And if they will have code readers on the bottom of them that react to older Zhu Zhu playsets?

So, at first glance I thought Bonnie was super cute, but then I realized something ...
Their legs have been sewn together! :shocked: If you look at Bonnie's front legs, you will see that she has no legs. Just a big blob of fabric, where 2 separate legs should be. Boo. Definitely not interested.

You know, for a zhu-zhu, that's not bad. My mom bought them for the boys when they were all the rage- poor things never got played with. I'd bet my daughter would get a kick out of them though.

Eh toy ponies have been being done since the 80's. They kinda remind me of the Keypers horse more than MLP. I really get tired of people going "OMG they are copying!!!" every time someone comes up with something remotely inspired by something someone else has done before. Like everything in this world has to be 100% original or it shouldn't be done.

They probably asked, "What is really popular with little girls and such right now?". And somebody probably said, "Well, My Little Pony has become really popular all of a sudden". "Then let's make Zhu Zhu Ponies! Little girls love ponies!"

That is so true :lol: Why make copes of the ZZP when they aren't nearly as popular anymore when they could make thousands on more Ditzy Doos? Hasbro needs to hire someone with common sense :P

I'm torn. :huh: Part of me is like, they're really cute and fuzzy and I like that Blackberry's colours, and the other part of me is like, ewww, their legs are weird and their faces are kinda smooshed and can't get over that they're ZhuZhus. I guess I'll wait to see 'em in person. ^.^ :lol:

I'm not saying they weren't inspired by MLP. I'm just saying how it seems to people on the internet that even being /inspired/ is a crime these days.
I didn't even think what Hasbro did with Furreal Frenzies was so bad. Back at that time they came out the Zhuzhus were only hamsters. Hasbro saw what Cepia was doing and noticed they weren't doing any other animals so they decided to make something to fill that void. Hasbro never did a hamster FF and of all the animals that Hasbro did, Cepia still hasn't done any kitties. (I would die if Cepia actually made ZhuZhu kitties)

In June 2010 Cepia also released Zhu Zhu Pets Rockstars that featured crazy personalities and funky hair. Later in the year, Hasbro released FurrStars Furry Frenzies that also had funky hair.
Cepia is also releasing Zhu Zhu Kittens this year. Look it up on google images.

I think people need to remember that this is business and business is about making money. It has nothing to do with ethics. They follow trends and they milk them for all they're worth. That's what business is.

I don't think Hasbro knew they were planning on expanding the ZhuZhus since toys usually take a lot more than 2 months to develop. Of course once Hasbro had sunk all that money into the Frenzies it wasn't like they could cancel them once Cepia started doing the Wild Bunch so they just had to press on.

The way their legs are joined together creeps me out. The rest of the Zhu Zhu pets look okay but these long conjoined legs is just too weird lol :P
If they were cheap I might buy one just for my dog to chase down and kill (in a 'kill it with fire' sense) rofl

It looks like their legs are conjoined because of their wheels. No way to separate them without removing the big wheel in the middle.

I doubt I'm going to get it, but I think Blackberry is quite cute! Their melded leg blobs are a bit odd, but I understand why they are that way.

I'm not a fan of the Zhu-zhu things LOL Except for some babies - they looks like Sylvanian Families to me ! Beyond that, it all looks weird to me.

I really don't like the way those look..but thats just me. I don't think I will have any problem passing them up. after watching the commericial its pretty clear they make horse like sounds and galloping sounds. They move like cars. This is just not cool to me at all. LOL Some sort of futuristic horse car. Baaaaa not for me.
