Title: Steralizing ponies
Post by: NovelNerd on July 07, 2012, 04:50:08 PM
I've been looking at the threads for cleaning ponies, and I've boiled a few of mine. Question though I'm mostly cleaning flutters/wingers now. I was told that boiling could harm them? I do have some with mold though that I need to clean out.

How do I sterilize the ponies where they can mingle with the others without harming their wings and flutter mechanism?

Cleaners with bleach, or I'll pop a little disinfectant in the body after I've cleaned it all out, and let it swirl around for a minute or two and rinse it out.

I should add that boiling water will melt the wing mechanisms. But you probably knew that

Haha yeah that's why I was asking since I knew I couldn't boil the ponies.

Ok, what is a good bleach type of cleaner to use? Do you use bleach and dilute it? If you do like water to bleach ratio? I don't want to stain and kill them.

It should have ratios on the container. But I'd only use around 1:10

I have found [thanks to a tip here on the Arena] that denture cleanser tablets popped into pony bodies and with water added clean out the inside of a pony fantastically of just about every yucky thing imaginable!

Kind of the same idea, I put a bit of OxiClean directly into the ponies body then fill it with hot or warm water (depending on the type of pony).  Gets all the gunk out every time.  I'm going to dry the denture cleaner idea!
