I found a single pinkie pie/cherry pie (pinky pie pie?) on taobao, so I snapped her up. Unfortunately my pinky pie is packed away in Australia, so I can't do a comparison shot, but here she is by herself.

Finally got my Lyra Rays. And without further ado:

Here eyes like Trixie Shy's are much different to her base pony. They are actually the same shade of colour as Sunny Rays but they are a completely different shape. So I have no idea what is going on there. Colour of plastic is exactly the same.
Trixie Shy arrived today. Here is a comparison shot.

Eyes are very different, and the colour is slightly paler on the Trixie Shy. Maybe because of a change in the design of Trixie before release??
So it is official pinky pie (or as I like to call her, Cherry Pie) is just Cherry Berry with the wrong symbol. I guess they made a mistake with the printing at the factory. Here is a comparison shot.

Sorry about the quality, no skills + iphone = fail at photography :P They are pretty much identical except for the symbol.
I did also order Lyra rays, but they sent me regular Lyra. I hope I can sort out the error, but I don't speak the language. So we'll see.

Nah, just angles of my phone, it has a funny shaped case on it, so I wasn't holding it straight. She looks smaller because of *THE POWER OF THE MIND MWAHAHAHA*

I am going with "Pinkie Berry"...so as not to confuddle myself with the "real" Cherry Pie...although with the yellow hair and the balloon symbols...maybe "Surprise Berry" or "Cherry Surprise" works better :P

Pinkie's eyes look darker. Pinkie normally has blue eyes. :O
That's because, as I said, she is Cherry Berry with Pinky Pies Symbol.

She looks awesome! I'm really excited to see "Lyra Rays" too, if you have her. Wonder what (if anything) Hasbro intends to do with all these walking pose bodies?

She is on her way, I might get my hands on her today or tomorrow with any luck. Same with trixie shy.
My guess is, that there has been a bit of printing mishaps lately, and that's the kind of stuff people get to take home. I would have thought that it would be more cost effective to wipe the symbols off and try again. But I guess not.

Bump for Trixie Shy. As you can see she is a slightly lighter blue, and her eyes are quite different. This may be because of updates in Trixie's design though.

If Trixie Shy has Rarity's eyes, can you check the initials between her hair plugs to see if it says TT or R? Same with normal Trixie, please?

Their eyes are quite different to each other. Same basic shape, but different colour and eyelashes.

I love factory errors so much but just can't afford to snag them all when I don't even have all the brushables yet :( Trixie Shy has got to be the best factory error yet though :lovey:

They're the same colour. Just light and shadow at play.
Derp! She is NOT the same colour as Pinky. Much darker pink. She is the same colour as Cherry Berry.

Wow! Lyra looks much plumper than Lyra Rays!!! And on a side note I do prefer Lyra Rays...I like the orange symbol, purple eye combo

I realise that she has Twilight's eyes. But why did that happen? Shouldn't she just have either gotten Lyra's eyes or Sunny Ray's eyes?? I don't understand how there is a third style of eye involved here. I realise that happened with Trixie too, but I think that is just a finalisation of design here. This doesn't seem that way at all.

I would guess they are truly mix n matches - not prototypes, not factory errors but test runs on colour combos or even just batch practices on certain lines...the mix ups are too random [but regular as there are multiple of the pony] to point to much else...as you say a finalisation of design or even a simple production test

Some sort of production test sounds right to me. But that would mean there are very limited numbers of these ponies. I wish we knew the exact number. I just won and auction for Trixie Shy on ebay. It would be cool to know if she was number 72 of 100 or whatever.

Isn't it kinda risky buying from that site because the messed up pictures might not be real and you end up with a normal character being shipped to you?

yeah, it's a bit of a risk, but as I live in China and I usually only end up paying $3 or so for a pony, I take the risk. I'm also used to certain sellers and am able to communicate with them to check that the pony is the same one as in the picture. I've only ever had the wrong pony shipped once, and in that situation what I got was not too bad anyway. If I had to go through a buyer and pay international shipping I probably wouldn't take the risk.
What's more of a pain is the couriers. They don't speak english, I don't speak chinese. So when they ring I run downstairs to get a native speaker to talk to them, but they often hang up on me while I'm running down stairs. It often takes 3 or 4 goes before I can put them on to someone.
