Title: 30 Day Challenge- DOLLY CHECK INS :)

EDIT: Is everyone happy to start on Thursday 5th July? Just under a week! Please check in!
Hi guys, I am going to be hosting a version of the '30 day challenge' originally hosted by Tuney for pony buyers, but this time, I'm making one for us doll buyers, I have done really well and I haven't bought a single pony, but I have bought a LOT of dolls. Now I need to calm down! I need some lovely people who feel like they drain their bank on ANY type of doll to come and join me!
Here's the rules:
1) You ARE allowed to trade for dolls - Since you aren't actually buying them, you are able to trade for ones you want- but you musn't buy dolls in order to trade them off.
2) If you see an extremely cheap or amazingly well priced doll, yes, you are allowed to buy it, that doesn't mean if you see SDCC Frankie at £200 BIN that you should buy it- is it really a bargain to you? ;)
3) If you find a very rare, or very hard to find doll- (sorry I use MH as an example, but it is the only one I know well!), for example a Wave 1 doll you know you can only afford at retail price and you find it at the store at retail price, you are allowed to buy it, that doesn't mean if you find a CAM pack you should go straight ahead and buy it ask yourself "Is this extremely hard to find, and will I ever find it again at retail price?" And remember, it's only 30 days!
4) If you break the rules, we'll all support you, remember, it is only your bank that will pay for it and no-one elses, we'll all support one another! And remember, we're all doing this for ourselves, whatever cause, saving for a wedding, saving for a rainy day, whatever, this should really help us all save some much needed money- I know I certainly need to save, I'm saving for my birthday!

plus my daughter will be 9 in July -- i need to get the rest of the dolls for her birthday.

Heh, if there weren't so many dolls I want right now, I'd totally sign up, my bank account is too small for my wants.  It's also comic con month, so any chance of going July without buying a doll goes straight out the window with that XD

I should sign up for this. My wife is mad at me for buying another doll (admittedly just for the outfit, and I should be able to get all my money back by selling the doll nude) yesterday when I'd already said I wasn't going to buy anything more until she goes back to work in September.

That being said, I know of one exception I will have to make already: Mattel is sending me a $36 gift voucher (after I asked them how I could go about tightening the loose limbs on some of my dolls) and I'm going to put it towards Draculaura's Powder Room plus one other things (since the powder room exclusive is priced at only $30).

There's some other stuff I want, but I think I can manage to wait it out.

So sign me up please!

Gaaah, I would do this, but I'm ordering another BJD on the first, once DikaDolls summer event starts...

BUT I have sworn off MH entirely, save for buying dolls to customize and sell. :)
...So I guess I'm kinda jumping in on this, just to keep myself from picking up Rochelle and others next time I see them... XD
The money I save on MH is going towards paying off my next BJD.

I so could never do this, much as I'd love to! There are a couple of dolls that if I see them at the right price on eBay, or in front of me in shops, i would have to get them. And doll clothes and accessories are a major addiction for me right now.

Plus I still have a week or so left of the 30 Day pony challenge and that's been torture enough!!!

My challenge is off to a good start! :) Since I couldn't buy a pair of jeans for Draculouis, I made a pair instead. I'm really surprised at how nicely they came out considering that I had no pattern and haven't sewn in over a year. XD But it was fun and creative, and I'd like to make more doll clothes.

I had a bit of a downfall but I had predicted it, I promised my family I would only buy one more doll, and last night, thanks to a wonderful member, I was able to. I do feel bad, but this was my last doll for a year or so. I won't be buying anything else now, my bank needs some time to re-couperate!

I'm probably going to have a go at making some props and clothing now to save me money, and huge congratulations to those of you doing so well, I'm going to set myself straight on the road again to saving money!

I hear you! I didn't like any of the GR girls at first, but then I saw Tuney's shot of Frankie with her hair down. I didn't know she had a streak of white in amongst the black. Makes her look like the mom from the Munsters.

But I shall resist! Since the GR dolls aren't exclusives, I'm sure we'll get them here in NZ eventually, so I can wait till then.

I am going to be making an exception to my no buying rule soon, as Mattel sent me a voucher as compensation for some really floppy dolls. I've asked my mom to put it towards a Powder Room Lala set and an I Heart Fashion Abbey. I'm hoping she'll be able to find them both at one of her local TRUs.

Oh, and I might make an exception for a color SS Frankie, as someone has said they might sell me theirs. But I would most likely sell my b/w Frankie.

And heya gaiz! I checked out some dolls today at the mall before a movie and was soooooo tempted to buy something, as I hoarded some of my tips, but I knew I couldn't. We might need those tips given our current situation and my mom was nice enough to let us go to the movies. That and this challenge. Hope you guys can get me to stay on track!

It's a US$36 voucher. The Powder Room Lala exclusive set apparently only costs $30, so I'm hoping one of the I Heart Fashion sets will be at the store so my mother can put the other $6 towards that and then I'll just pay the difference.

I'm doing pretty well so far. I'm going to be going to Trader Joe's tomorrow, and there's a Target nearby, so I'm going to have to avoid going there. >.< It's going to be hard because as soon as I see that logo, I want to go in there and look for dolls. XD

I slipped up yesterday.  :blush:

I've had this great idea for a shot of Jackson and Holt together, but I didn't have Holt. I'd seen him on the shelves a bit when I first started looking, and had even bought one back in May, but I decided his outfit was too hideous and sold him (at a small loss, I might add). Someone suggested I find one to borrow for the photo; unfortunately I don't know anyone else who collects MH dolls in Auckland ...

Anyway, I went looking just in case, and as it happens he's gone from all the places at which I'd seen him before ... but then just yesterday I was at a mall out east and found what could very well have been the last Holt in Auckland and what's more he was on sale for $10 off.

So I bought him.  :blush:

Thanks. I didn't think so at first (which is why I sold the first one I bought) but once I got Jackson, I started getting this nagging feeling that somehow he wouldn't be "complete" without Holt. Yes, they're separate toys, but they're the two halves of the same character. I'm glad I managed to find him again. I do feel guilty though. I know my wife will be angry when she finds out.

I'm more feeling guilty about keeping it from my wife than I am about breaking the challenge. I think I'm going to have to tell her sooner or later. My conscience is getting the better of me (which is not in any way a bad thing).

Well, I was a bit naughty and bought a new MS Lagoona today. I'm most likely going to send the other one back to Mattel and see what they send me as a replacement. The new one has her ears pierced in the right place and her face looks OK. Her freckles are a bit fainter and maybe a little messier, but I thought that I might try actually touching them up myself with some acrylic paint. Her hair was also a little messy, but I think I managed to fix that.

Oh, and I kinda agreed to trade some dolls for the I Heart Fashion girls and also for an original signature Frankie ...

So yeah, I'm not doing such a great job at this myself. Next month might be better for me too.

LOL. Yes. And maybe by then I will have actually found the time to whip up a proper banner too.

It'll definitely be easier for me next month, as once I get the I Heart Fashion girls and the signature Frankie, there really isn't much else I would like to have. I've already got a RM Frankie and Powder Room Lala on their way from my mom. I can wait for Gil. He's not that urgent. So I'll be good to go once I get that bunch. I probably won't buy any dolls for several months.

Sounds good. There are a few other dolls I'd like, but they're either too hard to find (Gil) or not out yet (Jinafire and Widowna). There are some others that I might get if they show up here (GR Frankie), but otherwise I'm not too fussed.

I know the feeling r.e hard to find dolls - gawd Gil is impossible! >.<
Jinafire is pretty cool, don't thinkk I'll get her though, but Catrine DAMMMNN - No, must stop talking about releases that are hawt otherwise the whole lot of us will end up wanting them :faint:

As for the I heart fashion girls, I'm recieving Frankie in a trade with the lovely dxgirly, so I didn't break any rules there, which I'm going to tell everyone:

I bought the Create a monster lab... But i felt bad so i returned it...
I think that this challenge has made me get over my obsession of buying a couple dolls a week... which is great.
I think i will only buy the ones that are EXTREMELY important now...YAY

That's exactly what we want to achieve! I'm sooo proud and happy for you!! Congratulations!! I'm the same now, although I have bought a few things, I've only bought my real grails, I've learnt to not buy ones I don't need and don't buy ones I don't seriously love and desperately want!!

Well, I was bad again.  :blush: I found an absolutely gorgeous Moxie Teenz Arizona doll on clearance, and since she looked so much like my OC, I had to have her. I don't really regret it, either, since she's honestly very gorgeous, and I know that I'll probably never see Moxie Teenz again. <3
