Biggest question that will determine for me whether I'm gonna restore or bait out this sad little baby Fifi is whether I can get this horrid pen off of her. Someone wrote their name in either sharpie or ball point pen and it seems to have soaked into the plastic itself.. I worked at it for like a half hour with acetone and only managed to fade it a little... any ideas?

She's in pretty rough shape, blush is scuffed, her symbols are mostly faded and half off the side with the pen marks, her hair is horrible, really dry and frizzy...

Sun fading ;)
My German Moonstone had a child's name across her side just like this also written with sharpie. I sun faded her (tin foiled hair and symbols, and 2 or 3 weeks later it was almost gone - about 80%. You can no longer make out the word, but if you look carefully can see there was something there. She displays beautifully now :)
-
Yep, sunfading. Her symbols fade really easily, so you will want to cover them and her eyes. Good luck.
-
Sun fading will clear that writing right up. Take great care with the symbols and eyes :)
-
how do I cover the symbols and eyes? Also... I don't have a place where I can sunfade v.v all of my windows hardly get any sun at all, even my car windows
-
Sun fade her for sure! Just cover up everything with foil that you want to protect. Stick her in a window and leave her there for a couple months if need be, check her every week or so. I've faded permanent marker out of a Gypsy that way but it took almost the entire summer! It will come out with patience though.

I hope so

You can use tin foil or maybe paper towels to cover up areas that need to be kept out of the sun. I put ponies at the very front of my car dashbaord and ride around (lol). If you don't have a good window, maybe a friend or relative can let you sneak a pony on theirs for a few weeks?
-
maybe, I dunno, I might have to put her away for a while and wait until I've got a better place with better sun view
-
with my sunfadeing what i did was taped a few scraps of folded paper towel over symbols and eyes etc. lol wonder what the neighbors thought to see a blindfolded Tiffany hanging from a noose in my window! :silly:
one of the cats is a chewer so i have to hang mine =P
-
bahahaha, that would have been a sight for the neighbors xDD
-
Augh why do kids draw on their ponies :yikes:
I never would have drawn on any of my pony's feet, let alone scribbled my name in sharpie on their BODY
Sunfading is the only thing I've heard to cure a mark like that, unfortunately...
-
looks more like adult's writing actually, so I'm thinking some kid's mother did that >_<
-
that's even worse >.<

mhm *pouts*

Well it's up to you if you want to bait her or restore her. But the best way to get that ink off is sun fading. but sun is an equal opportunity fader so you'll want to cover the symbols with some dark fabric so you can just fade the ink. That way what is left of the cutie mark will remain for you to use as a guide to paint over later, if you want to restore her.
Re-hairing her should be simple. Most g1's are pretty easy to get the head off and the hair out.
-
yeah I've rehaired plenty of G1s that had horrendous hair, that's the least of my worries, I worry more about the sun fading because I've never done it before
