Title: current price guide for G1's?
Post by: Peppie on June 10, 2012, 06:19:04 AM
I have both of Debra's pony books with price guides. But is there a site or newer book for finding the current value of G1's?

Honestly prices fluctuate too frequently too make a physical price guide feasible.  You're better off checking what the pony has sold for in the past, here and on eBay.

Bluerose has a webpage but Baby Sugarberry is right...  prices fluctuate monthly!

My price guide is actually updated weekly and a lot of prices don't change as much as others think. But there are trends, like Euro ponies have been up in price the past couple of years. Click the link in my sig to check it out.

Definitely agree! Blueroses site is brill, at least youll get a bit of an idea and for a particular pony you can just ask here :-)

I have Summer Hayes' book and I've noticed that her prices are pretty close. I do agree that the prices fluctuate. All depends on the interest in particular ponies at a particular time. Price checks and recent final sale values at ebay are good too!

I think a combination of blueroses prices, ebay completed auctions and asking here...the "going rate" on ebay and prices from fellow collectors are always the best averages.

Yes, prices dont go from super low to super high over the years [or at least seldom do] but there are always dips or surges in popularity which can cause changes so what a pony may be worth 6 months ago could be different to now.

This!

And a big thanks to bluerose for taking the massive amounts of time required to keep the price guide site updated.  It is such an asset to me as a collector and I use it ALL the time.  :)

In case you are still looking for ideas on how to price ponies, I go to ebay and look under the 'completed listings' option (it is to the left on the side bar). It lets you know what the pony has been going for most recently. :)

I'll just chime in to say that I also check blueroses's site frequently and I find them pretty accurate.
