UGH why did they do that fringe to a perfectly adorable shirt?? I would have absolutely bought it otherwise... but NO WAY!
Maybe if you chop the fringes off, hem it, and wear another shirt under it it could be salvageable?UGH why did they do that fringe to a perfectly adorable shirt?? I would have absolutely bought it otherwise... but NO WAY!
^This.
You can't even save it and turn it into a cute tank top or something like that, unless you buy it several sizes too big so you can chop the fringe and bring the top of the shirt inward. Sheesh. Some people will probably love it, but I think it just looks tacky the way they designed it.

Belly shirts are the big it thing lately  Which is unfortunate for well..most of us.Maybe if you chop the fringes off, hem it, and wear another shirt under it it could be salvageable?
Maybe, but it's so wide (or maybe it just looks really wide?).
Also seems like it would look weird to have a half-shirt over another shirt. If I saw it on a stranger I would probably think, "Where did the rest of that shirt go?"
Well, seeing as it's being sold at forever21, it's obviously aimed at teenagers and young adults. This fit and the fringes are very popular with my age group!
Sorry if you guys don't like it, but maybe you should see it from the perspective of who it's aimed for. :)
Um, cuz California is the best state, DUH!I'm glad someone else understands! :silly:
Hey, what's with all the internalized body shaming going on here? :(
Just because you've had a baby or don't look like the model doesn't mean that something doesn't look "good" on you. Be proud of your body the way it is! I'm really tall and thin and have been told multiple times that I should model, and people still make fun of my body or say that I'm ugly. And the only thing that matters is what you think about your body.
...they could almost put any other word there and it would make just as much sense. 'Toaster' 'Notepad' 'Garage'. Or any other random place...'Pakistan' 'West Oak Street' etc.

Uh, coming from someone who has baby weight to complain about. . .baby weight is fat. And you can gain a lot of it, and it can be really really hard to loose. I have a literal 'flap' of skin/fat because of my pregnany, and so I would look HORRENDOUS in any sort of short shirt. Anyone that isn't basically skin and bones will NOT look good in crop tops or shirts like that (but if they want to wear them idc, their choice). Its not "body shaming". Not everyone will look good in everything, because there are so many different body types & sizes and so many skin tones, hair colors, bone structures, etc. That's just how it is.
If you're (general you) not the right body type to "match" a certain style but want to wear it anyways, good for you, but not everyone feels that way. Some people prefer to wear the styles that are made for their body type, because it looks better.
As for the "its for teens" deal, I'm 19. Still hate this shirt and that whole style.
Somebody slap this glorious thing a T-shirt, NOW!...they could almost put any other word there and it would make just as much sense. 'Toaster' 'Notepad' 'Garage'. Or any other random place...'Pakistan' 'West Oak Street' etc.
...I would probably buy this shirt if it said "Toaster" on it XD

I did see it on "sale" rack for $14.50 at the Forever 21 near me, but that's not much of a sale, lol.
You can cut up a shirt, but you can't un-cut up a shirt... I am now picturing buying this shirt and sewing the fringes back together! Now THAT would be a fashion statement... maybe use some nice thick twine... Hmm... LOL
Lol! As a born and raised Californian who has lived in many other states, I will never understand why people think the whole state of California is "glamorous". It's on about oh, I don't know, a billion different shirts sold nationwide? And people actually buy it? I don't get it! It's like being a New Yorker and seeing people in other states wearing shirts with the "I<3 NY" on it haha. You just want to yell "Stop glorifying my state!!!! There's nothing exciting in 98% of it!!!!" I love California but still. It's just like any other state! There's a bunch of sand, some dirty sidewalks, big buildings, bad neighborhoods, some mountains, some trees, and a lot of deer. Woo-hoo. Definitely no ponies, except of the real life kind. This whole post reminded me of one of my favorite shirt designs xD
Anyways I would get this shirt and just cut off the California thing and the fringe and wear some bright tank top under it or something. But for that price, it's not worth it to me. Maybe I'll find them discounted in Cali because no locals want to walk around looking like a tourist :p
But I guess "California" makes a bit more sense than "Kentucky" or "Wisconsin"... in the sense that Cali is already so glorified to high heaven that glorifying it isn't particularly surprising.I lived in WI most of my life, I don't think anyone will be making T-shirts about it any time soon XD
I'm still waiting for that ~hip and trendy~ shirt that says "Kentucky" on it, though

we're the ones who most likely remember G1, so I wonder how many teen girls right now would want to wear that. Obviously there are some, based on the comments here, but still, it seems odd.Well MLP IS pretty iconic, even hip teenagers/young adults with no actual interest in ponies know it's a big thing from the 80's, and seeing as the 80's are ~in~ right now G1 related things are, by association, also in.
Belly shirts are the big it thing lately  Which is unfortunate for well..most of us.Rofl, at this omgs.
Awww yeah! ;D

Haha, wow, I had no idea there was so much hate for the word California! Maybe it's just my bias because I'm from there, but it really doesn't bother in the slightest. Do I see the connection between Sundance and California? Well, she is named SUNdance, that sort of makes sense I guess. I suppose I'm so used to seeing shirts with random states name on them (usually Florida or New York, but sometimes others too, I think Virginia and New Jersey I've seen a bit) that I didn't really think twice about it. Honestly, it's just that hideous fringe (and at 23 I don't think I'm THAT much out of the targeted age, now am I?)Maybe it should say ~UTAH~ for the Sundance Film Festival. In fact that would make this shirt ten times more hilarious. Sundance, with UTAH in gigantic letters under it...lmao. :lmao: I'd buy that. ...without the fringe.

Wow, you look amazing girl!! I've a little less in weight than you are but I've had a kid. My baby pouch is quite unflattering. Still, I may be coming around on this shirt! It really looks adorable on you! I would never pick it up off the rack but seeing it on...well, it's really cute!I agree! I too have extra pooch (from sweets, not baby xD) but with a tank underneath this shirt it actually looks quite good. I picked one up yesterday and I think I may do some surgery on it tonight and cut the fringe off.
Wow, kinda despicable that Forever 21 can sell this shirt as their own simply by slapping "California" on it. For those that don't know this shirt has been around for, what two years now? With just Sundance, no text and the same fringe/style. Anyway, you can find it on taobao for 3 USD (ofc shipping sucks) without the "California" text. I know they sell it elsewhere also without but for much more, Zazzle had it for 18 I think last year.
