What can you experts tell me about these mugs? They appear often enough on my local auction site, but don't think I've ever seen them on actual eBay.
Does anypony know where they were released, what caracters have been made, and so on?
The wiki doesn't seem to have anything on these?

If I remember correctly they have the same markings as the European porcelain figures, which someone once said were Swedish. So maybe that it is something local. Not sure.
-
Thats super cute!
I have seen another couple in the past a Galaxy and a Fizzy - both in Finland so I would guess if you are finding them locally they were perhaps Scandinavian merch.
-
I have two at home :)
-
This one does have swedish markings underneath, but I thought the same designs might have been used elsewhere, or do you think they could have been made solely for the Swedish market? Doesn't seem like good business sense!?

How very lovely for you.

I does seem that way then! Maybe it was more common in those days to produce merch locally for the local market? Yes, aren't they just adorable? I must get my hands on the TE ones!
-
I really want these, but they are so hard to find. You should buy up all you can get your hands on :)

Sorry, can't find the memory card for my camera so I had to take a photo with my phone. The stamps look similar and it's written in Swedish on the mug (the faded text). My mug is veeery worn - because my dad has used for coffee throughout the years and it's been washed in the dishwasher, I just recently put it away. I've seen mugs in the same style with: Whizzer, Fizzy, Cupcake, Moondancer, Cherries Jubillee and Buttons.

Omigosh those mugs are so adorbs!!! I'd love to have one in my collection one day. I only have a g3 pony mug from Australia. D:
-
Yup, they're swedish/Scandinavian, which breaks my heart. I am always hoping to find them, but whenever one does show up on ebay they are usually reaaalllyyy expensive.
-
Yep, the Scandinavian market had all sorts of awesome dishes! Kind of how the UK got eggcups and the USA never did. :(
-
Just saw a photo of one of the mugs in the different style, it has the exact same stamp underneath.

That's right, now that you mention it I have seen the same design on plates. And oh, I've seen those eggcups on ebay a couple of times. Didn't know they only were released in the UK.
-
They are so cute! Must stalk EU eBays for them...
-
I love these! Shipping to the US is a killer though.
I have only seen Cherries and Cupcake. It's so good to see the others!

The two mugs with the baby ponies look very similar to one of the mugs that I have. It has the same baby pony pattern, but has more decorations around the top and the bottom. I think I got mine from US seller, but it could have been from someone in the UK. (it was a looong time ago!)
I totally want that Moondancer mug!!
-
There's 6 of them: Buttons, Fizzy, Moondancer, Cupcake, Whizzer and Cherries Jubilee. They come also with 2 handles and plates exist also. I have 4 Buttons mugs, 3 Fizzy mugs and 2 Moondancers (unicorns are my favorite ;) ). They are quite common over here. The bottom text is Swedish (but it's our 2nd language here) and they are made in 'the Republic of Korea'.
Few old pics:

Thanks for sharing, they are so pretty and I like them all!
I have a ceramic G3 egg cup from an Easter set :)
-
Looks like I'll have to move to Sweden instead! To hunt for things like these with my mate! = D
I only have 3 of the US ceramic mugs (2 with their boxes!), and a US catalog showing all the cups and the ceramic figures.

I have all of them, and some duplicates with norwegian text as well. :)
I have been trying to find out where they where manufactured, how do you know that they where made in Korea? Does it say so on your mugs?
They are definilty scandinavian exclusive merch. :) So Sweden, Norway and Finland got them, but I don't know about Denmark jet.
-
Would anyone be able to help me get some of the mugs on this post? I'm really interested :)

Yes, it says "Stengods, Bly-och Kadmiumsäker, Decor och Glasyr, Made in the Republic of Korea" and has the MLP logo and 1986 Hasbro in it.

My mug has the same text (but "decor" is spelled with a "k", "dekor") except there's no "Made in the Repbublic of Korea" on it. It has the MLP logo and Hasbro 1986.

Beautiful. I'd adore to have one of those..
-
Thanks for the pics, Wildshadow!!
And thanks for all the info, everyone!

Very interesting! :D Thank you for telling me. Funny how you got that extra pice of text on your mugs!

I have about 30 different MLP Ceramic mugs :) and I still know of 1 or 2 I'm missing
some have a single character with 1 handle, some a single character with 2 handles, some have multiple ponies and different markings/companies on the bottom and slight differences in art (made in different countries)
most are from Europe
I got most of mine through Tradera with the help of local (there) pony people

I have 2 of the one on the bottom left with their original box. I bought it on eBay last summer for almost nothing, thinking I would drink out of them. Then they arrived and I realized they had never been used. So they're on display instead. :silly:

I had to check if I misspelled a word, and indeed I did: It's dekor with a K in my mugs too. (But they all have the 'made in..' part in them, I also have one with multiple ponies and it has the same text).
-
Those ones in the catalogue are so cute Wildshadow! I ll need to keep an eye out for them on ebay! I would love at least one of them for my tea!

This is the US mug I have:

And then I also have this one that I got from a UK seller probably 10 years ago. My ex brother in law was doing dishes and chipped the heck out of it, I cried! So, I don't use it anymore as a drinking mug. It's the size of a regular coffee mug. I also have an egg cup with Cotton Candy on it.
