I'm cruising e-bay for a bit and come across an auction for a MLP "surprise twins" pony. Pink pony with a stork on her. Belly split open, like an old fashioned c-section. Just the mom, no babies. Is this thing for real?

Yeah.. That's actually... A thing! She's supposed to come with two tiny babies; one is blue and one is a salmon colour.. XD

Yup...Surprise Twins Pony! She should have 2 teeny tiny little twins with her one in pink and one in blue. If her tummy mechanism works she is usually quite hard to find and very expensive if she has her babies! She was one of the odd later releases - she only got a Euro/Aus release nothing for the US/Canada.

I remember first seeing her years ago in one of BridgetsMum's picfics. It's an interesting pony, for sure. Pregnant pony! :lol:

I remember checking her out in my pamphlets when I was a kid :) I kinda wanted her, but i didn't like the babies too much, they´re too small :P

yeah just imagine if toys were like the real world...we all be gapless :lol: with levers. I do think shes odd but I kinda like her.

her accessories are literally a hospital bed. It rocks! She is one of my favourite ponies because of her complete oddness.

That does seem like a funny concept, especially if you don't see the babies sold with it.
There are stuffed animals like this called Pony, Kitty, and Puppy Surprise that you can rip open their velcro belly and pull out babies.

I had a LPS (I think) cocker spaniel dog mama that had a hatch on her belly for this same kinda thing. you move her tail and it popped the baby out. you could really shoot the puppy far if you flicked her tail hard enough!
also, if we use FIM logic about symbols doe that mean this poor pony's special talent is having babies?

Is it not enough we have dolls that get diaper rash and poop that we need a pony that delivers by c section? I mean seriously..LOL...do kids really need that? I am assuming this was vintage. My friends all though the prego barbie was too much too. A prego pony just crosses a line of seriouly demented toy idea for me. LOL That however...wouldn't stop me from getting one. I love unusual things..but its odd. :biggrin: It reminds me too much of Aliens...yikes ya know. I guess its better than them having some sort of mechanism that shoots a baby pony out you know where. :lmao: Somehow I really think we will see just this type of doll that will be motion activated by a person saying the word push to their doll. Yep...dolls of the new world 2050.

She was not sold in the USA to my knowledge - and it doesn't so much split open more it's like a swing door that opens.
I like to call her B-52 Bomber Pony, cause it seems more like she would open up and drop the babies like little bombs.

Well I will jump to the defense of Surprise Twins and say that I love her a lot. I have her, but not her twins. I'm thinking of getting repro ones at some point as I doubt I'll be able to afford the real ones.
I had her as a child and I thought her having babies was the best thing ever - I never thought about how they got there (after all, I put them in myself!) or how inappropriate it was. ;)

Yes shes a G1 pony...HB UK really went big with the baby angle - the nurse pony set and the bed & crib set [the bed too small for the mummy and the crib too big for the babies] were all released around the same time appearing on one anothers backcards as well.
