Last summer I worked at a family camp near yosemite and I would wander around after work and pick up anything interesting that I found. I still occasionally pick up interesting or shiny objects I find laying around. Earrings, pennies, part of a sunglasses frame. I found lots of feathers and fishing gear, left behind toys and other odd bits last summer
If you do collect found object what kind of things do you pick up?
-
Pretty much anything that catches my eye! Im a pack rat ohhhh shiny things!!
-
I do that too! LOL What is broken or unusuable, I throw away or recycle. Other stuff I keep and use or make something out of it or just collect it.
-
Bones, fossils, teeth and horns :) Every time I take a walk through a forest I seem to find something
-
When we had to live in a hotel for a few weeks once, I used to go all around the grounds and pick up...pencils. Those little, short ones you get to use on a gold course. They had the hotel's name on them. I got at least thirty of them.
-
Fossils, sherds of 17-20 century china, plus a few random marbles over the years.
-
i use to find things all the time as a kid, sadly when my collection go too big.. my dad threw it out =-=;
Guess a bag of quartz was the last straw lol.

I don't know if it counts under "found objects", but my wallet is full of fortunes from cookies, most of them not opened by me. I'll pick up ones people discard as well. I plan on making a decoupage piece with them when I get enough for a big canvas.
-
I do to a point - usually something interesting or a neat rock or such (the rock thing I got from my mom). I have one rock that is really flat and smooth, at first I thought it was a penny :) one of my favs, it's so unique.
Earrings and personal stuff like that I usually leave alone though. But a neat pendant or such may catch my eye.
-
I collect messed up pennies. Does that count?
-
I used to collect interesting stones and pebbles when I was little, I'd come home with pockets full of them! Also shards of pottery that were plentiful in our flowerbeds, feathers, shells, bits of sheep's wool...
-
If I see something interesting, I will pick it up^^ Shells and neat rocks/stones, broken up jewlery (though if it has value id turn it in knowing someones probably looking for it), coins...things like that.
-
When I was in elementary school, I would pick out the most interesting looking pieces of gravel from the playground. I know how that sounds but there were some pretty ones. I think I still have that orange tube somewhere too.
-
Shells, stones, feathers, bones, fossils, skulls, teeth, seeds, nuts...anything like that! My house is full of bits and bobs :)
-
well on our high school senior picnic i found an abandoned plush reptar from the cartoon rugrats. I took one look at him and took him home and cleaned him. I know he is around somewhere so i will post a pic sometime.

Rocks! We have several boxes of rocks... I dunno why, but we do! :D
-
I love to pick up pretty bird feathers when I visit parks and wildlife centers, and I also like to pick up glass (So long as it isn't dangerously sharp). I keep figuring I will eventually make accessories with them, but... well, I can't say that I have XD.
-
Mostly nature stuff like insects, bones, feathers (although keeping songbird feathers and many types of animal bones isn't actually legal here without a permit, but I don't think most people know that.)

You can never have too many rocks! :D

You never know when you might need to grab your beard and attend a stoning!

Guitar picks :) I have tons. I don't actually play the guitar, but it's bad luck to leave them.
-
Sea shells!! But they have to be pretty. I literally have hundreds of clam shells (there are thousands to be found where I live), all hand scrubbed and oiled, lovingly shoved in a plastic box. Hundreds of whelks, too. I don't know what I'm going to do with them, but I love them too much to let them go!

I have literally thousands too! Mine are mostly packed away but the larger ones I am displaying in a cabinet now I have moved. I also do shell art so there are random mirrors, pots and boxes (even a table but I gave that to my Mum) with shells on :)
-
Rocks and fossils and "sea" (river) glass and glass bottles. I have tons of glass bottles and old china dug out of the ground where an old house used to stand.
-
I pick up lost jewellery pieces that I will eventually make into a found object keychain :)
-
Rocks, tons and tons and tons... once we get our pond cleaned up I'll have to post pics...
