I have recently discovered that I have a serious love for Fluttershy. Like...I want the hoodie to wear in the 100+ degree heat in the summer, cause is has her on it kind of love. >.< I even realized I was doodling customs of her in different poses, form baby on up.
So, what i want to know is how did y'all realize that you loved a certain pony so much you wanted oodles and oodles of them? And from there, where did you go, and how did it escalate?
Show me pics of your armies! I'll show mine when I get mine started...it's barely a 2 pony army right now, LOL!

My armies were unintentional. We are amassing armies of Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Minty. I want a :muffin: Pony army though! Pics coming soon.

Oh girl do I have an army!! My collection is pretty much exclusively wingers, but I have a few Breezies and Flutters. My love for them began when I was a young girl, I had tons of ponies but wingers were my very favorite. I adore their little size, sweet faces and delicate wings. There is such an appeal, I literally can't get enough of them!!
I have promised to post pictures of my army as soon as I hit 100, but I'll give a little teaser shot:

Why would anyone need a reason to want lots of Rarity. ;)
But I got into because of the show and I just connected to her. Her dedication to her art, her flawed personality, she's stuck up but she's the most generous character on the show. I could go on and on. Also she's just pretty!

Well I had Surprise and Baby Surprise...and then I found one with a haircut and turned it into a boy baby Surprise. Then I got a REALLY nice one in a trade and I couldn't get ri of any. Then I got a custom in a swap...and I decided I liked how all those Surprises looked and that I wanted more. XD But not all the same. I like others.

It just sorta happened unexpectedly with Minty. I have four of her now all in different styles. If there was another pony I'd have an army of though it would be Fluttershy. I do have both of the McDonald's toys of her so that's a start. There's also the single of her I got for my husband that he keeps MIB on a shelf but I got it for him so I wouldn't count that as a contribution towards my Fluttershy army.

Like most ponies here, I latched onto a particular pony, and soon found that I couldn't get enough of her! Fizzy wasn't my favorite as a kid; it was actually Stardancer. Once I started collecting again as an adult though, she slowly became my #1. :heart: Another reason I absolutely adore her is her color scheme! It reminds me of mint and bubblegum.

I have a gusty army because my parents accidentally threw out my baby gusty as a child (she was my favorite). I tore the house apart looking for her. Then one of my friends bought me a baby gusty off of ebay. Ever since that, I've wanted to keep trying to find Gusty to make up for the poor one that is probably in a garbage dump somewhere.
If I'm ever given the opportunity, I will definitely amass a :muffin: Pony hooves and lyra army as well.

It all started with one.
Then... somehow/somewhere, I started to get some doubles (with my hunting trips and just couldn't leave behing the pony), from it, scalated a little with the few lots I've bought...
And then it started that I just love some ponies and can't get rid of any of them (Mexican Blossom), Masquerade, Braided Beauty (the really intentional armies). And then, deciding I can't leave behind any Mexican pony behind that came near me. My biggest army at the moment is Mexican Blossom with 11 adults, and 6 babies).

I'm not a fan of the people dolls from G1. But I am loving that Megan Sundance collection. I think it's really cool with each one of them in a different matching outfit. I love it.
And all the poor baity brothers fraternity LOL that's awesome. I've got a little bit of an army. I'll be running home tonight to take some pics, I'm sure. ;)

She was the only G1 in a lot of fakies and a couple G3, and when I got her, I started looking up info about her. She's actually what made me join the Arena; I'd been lurking for a while.
Somehow, I ended up with a handful of them, and when I got a free 'bait' one with a missing ear, and another one out of a bait box, I started buying mismatched bait Blue Belles just in case they were errors.

About the time I traded Dabble for an error Blue Belle, I realized my collection priorities had changed. I no longer wanted lots of ponies, I wanted lots of *Blue Belles*!

My army is only small, but it was mostly on purpose. When I rediscovered my childhood herd in the attic, all of them were NM/GC bar one poor little lady - Sunlight. I don't know how she got so discoloured, rusty and cancerous, but she was utterly bait material. Only the thought of customising her was abhorrent, and seeing so many other Sunlights being sold as 'bait' with less flaws than my own made me decide to rescue them! Now I've 6 Sunlights in varying conditions that have been fixed up to look beautiful :) I've also got 2 custom Sunlights, a magnet from Scraleos and various Sunlight artwork! While I mostly focus on rough, pre-loved Sunnies, I'm hoping to add foreign variants and a MOC to my army eventually.
Note: I'm not against G1s being used for customs, but only when they really ARE bait! :)

I was thinking it would be fun to have an 'Army Boost' swap sometime, maybe in winter. Where you make your partner 3 ponies of the ones they collect (or want to). Only one big one like a g1/g2/g3 and 2 smaller ones like a baby and a blind bag or McD's pony or something. Or even a plushie or a painting/drawing/adoptable.

My armies are still pretty small, so no pics yet besides my AJ's. But I know already that I'm going to end up with Applejack and Bowtie armies. I want every version of them ^^ I am also partial to TAF ponies, so I want them all MOC and the different country versions of them. And the TAF babies, I have them all either MIP or loose and my goal is to have them MIP and loose. Right now I just need a loose Baby Love Melody to complete my loose collection. And I need MIP Baby Sweet Tooth, Baby Milkway, and Baby Dancing B to complete my MIP collection :)

Beautiful armies, everyone! I'm particularly partial to boy armies- those baity boys are way too cute, and I love Barnacle. And I have a baity Barnacle! (Collection, not bait!) :biggrin:
The only army I'm working on is Daddy Sweet Celebrations. He was the only boy pony I had when I was a kid (unless you count his son, of course). I thought his colours were beautiful, and his pose is just so strong and handsome. I have four, and one custom; there aren't a lot of variants of him, but I want to have him done as a TE (with eyes to match his hair- swoon!) and one with pegasus wings. The difficult thing is, his pose is one of the best things about him. I adore customs in any pose, and artwork, but the bulk of my army will always be him as he is. Mint or baity, I don't care- I love that pony! I only have four, and only one is in excellent condition, but I'm working on it! :)

Hm, I don't really have any armies as of yet. The closest probably being Pinkie Pie since I have the most variants of her than other ponies but it was completely unintentional lol
I would really love to some day have a Gusty army though! I think she is gorgeous and definitely my favorite G1 pony at the moment ^.^

I don't have any armys anymore but I did have a walking pose army and a small Barnacle army. Most of them have moved on to others places but I did have them. I love seeing peoples pics as well.

This is part of why I love you. xD Yes, we should do another swap....I'm ready when you are, though I would love to take part in an army swap next time it goes on. I just think that Fluttershy would be adorable in the Nibbles/Dibbles pose, don't you? That much baby Fluttershy would be made of way too much squee. *srsnod*
But that is a good question....Ice Crystal I am going to have to save for no matter what, so maybe, but bait boys are so hard to come by, so that is another problem.
In further news, I have considered a Nibbles/Dibbles army as well...that has to be my favorite post of the baby ponies. It's just so darn adorable!

Anyway, as far as armies...I don't really have any. I have two Magic Mirrors (one quite a bit baity-er than the other) and two (non-winged, G3) Rainbow Dashes (one limited edition with a rainbow leg) and two different Sundances (one TAF, the other a VERY dirty So-Soft) And two Megans.

TexasGal, :nuts: I know, I feel sooooo special now. Would I be the most narcissistic person ever if I wanted an army of Cameos? Either that or just boy theme ponies, g1 guys or Big Macs would rock too. The boys were all my grails as a kid. It would be fun to have an army swap that ended in December so we got a box of pony awesomeness for Christmas.
Is anyone starting a new Army swap? How long did the last one go for? It must have taken forever, that was a ton of ponies. I think it would be so much fun to hunt down/make all the ponies for my partner. I can easily see myself getting carried away.

The army swap this year had almost a 5 month shopping time. It's a big swap with a big budget (that we all completely ignore anyway) so it helps to have a lot of time.
But I'm sure someone could try a smaller one with a smaller budget that wouldn't take as long XD

If we're talking different versions of the same pony whether there be 2/4/flat foot hoof stamped, international/nirvana, customs, then I've well over a dozen (or two :lookround: ) but if you're just talking about multiples of the same pony over and over (plus the already mentioned) then I only have one.

My little North Star army ^^ The SS to the right of the NSS is going to be deflocked, she's very grungy lol. The little girl in the front is my only childhood North Star, and was my favorite. I still need the sparkle baby version, and the 2 nirvanas. I'd also like backcards and stuff too. And more customs, and more variants, and more anything lol. What's funny is I don't like pink, but something about North Star, I just don't mind :lovey:
I also have accidental Fluttershy and Rarity armies, I just tend to get duplicates when buying sets XD I'd love a G1 Fluttershy tho.

Uh yeah regarding the army swap,over budget is an understatement :lmao: NoD was my partner and she went about 8 times over budget for my box!! :hug: :dribble: It was the most amazing swap box ever! I got MIP, Greek, and Italy in my box amongst loads of others and a plushie!!!!! :faint:

That yellow color on the end is the most mysterious shade. I'm inclined to say that it might go to the fancy pants ones (although I'm pretty sure the bright yellow & Bright green are FP ones) Maybe the puppy/kitty or bunny sets- as I think I might have another shade of pink, but I keep putting the pink off as fading....
Cat, Your Megan army is lovely. I also would like to see the "leafy" skirt/ apron- I only have the bow one.. I also have enough Megans to display all the Megan & Ponywear at the same time!

I love pony armies! At first I thought it was just silly but back in 2006 I visited MLP Convention in Birmingham, UK, and as soon as I entered to room, a fellow collector was displaying her Minty army! That was it!!! PinkKittyWinks and the Nirvana Forum are guilty, as well, for introducing me to the plethora of different Minties from all over the world... Here is my Minty & Chloe (Greek Minty, Χλόη) armies!
