My feelings exactly.
While toys look nice and all (I'm certainly getting a Trixie for my collection of actual characters from the show), I can't help but feel some folks will feel even more entitled by the choice of names.

I much prefer the rounder eyes like Pinkies etc, and in this case of Trixie and Lyra, in the show they both have round eyes.
I don't understand why Hasbro hold back on making many new molds for ponies, just look how many LPS molds they have made over time :/

Wonderful ! I'll be getting all of them. I love how they found the right balance between Hasbro's names and fandom names by fusing them; Trixie Lulamoon ^.^ Lyra Heartstrings ^.^
But, again, they put the DVD in front of the toys... :huh: Come on, was there really no one on that development team who said "Hold on, that DVD's position.. hum, maybe not..." ?!
Also, given that the packaging promotes the Wedding Episode, these toys would have sold like hot cakes, IMO, if they were actually released *before* the episode itself, given all the buzz they've created for the Wedding finale. It's been a while since the big episode. The buzz has quieted down now.
Anyway, I love them and will certainly add them to my collection.

What bothers me is that Hasbro loves to include horrible episodes with the toys.
Like that Ticket Master episode, where the ponies show their absolute worst behaviour.
That and it hides possible defects. That too put me off from buying those.

It's nice to see that Trixie Lulamoon's box art looks different from the other unicorn art. Even Sunny Rays' art is a tad different

In all seriousness, this makes me so happy! I hope we see more unique box art to come, or that Hasbro will at least reuse THESE boxart images instead of Main Six, Main Six, Main Six (for non-Main-Six ponies).
Also, Lyra and Trixie look super cute. AND NON-PINK.

I may have to think about getting the Sunny pony, as I have an affinity for sun-related ponies. Plus, I like yellow-purple combos. It would be my third G4. :)

When I buy Ponies I want Ponies. Not BRATZ dolls. Those eyes are the worst thing ever. They may work on Rarity, because she is, well, a Diva. But the rest of them, come on!!! :P
That said, I'm still going to buy the heck out of all of them.

Ohhhhhh the DVDs again. Same episode again! Still blocks the ability to see factory flaws! Can't display MIB with any reasonable sense of aesthetics! AUUUUUGH! Hasbro!
Is this their solution to marketing to the children who DON'T have the ability to watch The Hub, does anyone else think?

I hope no one thinks poor of me for whining about show accurate eyes, it's just one of the things that have bothered me about the whole G4 line is that they use the same eyes for ALL the unicorns. You'd think by now they'd have at least made a second head mold for a little variation :p

Well Kmart lied and the one by my house does not have them in stock.... but... I am trying two others. I'm not hopeful that I'll have them today at this point, but if kmart has the pictures up already, I think we'll all have them soon. :) :)

I could live without Cherry Berry, but all the other ones. All my money.
Also, Kmart is notoriously unreliable when it comes to their stock of specific ponies. I was going to order a FS Applejack from them, but one of the reviews said they were sent a Fluttershy instead. What's the point of having different product pages for different ponies if they won't even differentiate between them when packing people's orders? Many grrrs. /rant

They are so gorgeous!! Didn't the prototype Sunny Rays (the one at the toy fair) have pinkish hair? I love her SO much better with the dark purple & pink hair, great choice! Can't wait for these guys in store. D:

Yup! She looked really similar to fluttershy because of that. I'm glad she has purple hair now instead.

I think LulaMoon sounds pretty. :/ Now that there are two names for Lyra/Heartstrings and Trixie/Lulamoon, you could call her whichever one you like better. (I see Trixie as being her performer name, and Lulamoon as her real name, or maybe just her last name :D )
The more I stare at Sunny Rays, the prettier she gets.... why is purple/yellow combo just the prettiest thing right now? Complimentary colors = love!!
Also curious when the first ones get on eBay and how high they will go for...

I like Lyra and Heartstrings, so I'm glad that they kept it Lyra Heartstrings. :) And I'm sorry I said that Lulamoon was stupid... I just don't like what it sounds like, but that's just my opinion. Sorry. :(

Don't worry, there are worse pony names out there. Like "Tra-la-la" and "Toola-Roola". XD
I actually like Lulamoon, perhaps because it reminds me of Sailor moon. ^^;

Trixie's first intro as a toy - blind bag - was solely named Lulamoon. Even though the show named her Trixie, the toy line didn't acknowledge that name. The name "Trixie" may have been used on TV, but hasn't been recognized as the name for the toy version of the character, till now - and even then they fuse the 'canon' name Trixie with the Hasbro substitute name 'Lulamoon'. Hence the stretch to classify her under fandom :)

Though I'm also annoyed at the use of incorrect eye shapes (grrr I just want the unicorns to have some variety!! If all unicorns in the show had that eye shape, it might possibly be okay but ugh it's just annoying and lazy! /rant). And that they plucked the name Lyra strait from the fandom and slapped it in front of the original name they had for her. But alas, they will still end up in my collection because they're just too darn pretty. I certainly won't be purchasing Trixie because I liked her character...bleh.
I do love the purple color used for Sunny Rays' hair! So pretty.
So yeah...nothing new to add here lol.

I just can't really get past how they named two of the ponies. Because pony names haven't really been like that were it sounds like it's supposed to be two different ponies. They should have kept Trixie Lulamoon as Trixie and kept Lyra Heartstrings as either Lyra OR Heartstrings. Hasbro you hurt my head with these names D:

Hadn't thought Trixie and Lyra would get the single pony box treatment. I thought they were part of the TRU exclusive with Nightmare Moon and White Princess Celestia? Nevertheless, I think I would've wanted Trixie's outfit, not to mention a better episode pick (Lesson Zero wasn't one of my favorite FiM episodes).

Up until G4 they used the exact same eyes for every pony in a generation. In fact, G1 eyes and G3 eyes are almost exactly the same. I think that having different types of eyes at all is the novel thing. Though, I have to agree that the unicorn eyes are my least favorite of the G4 options. I actually rather miss the "classic" G1/G3 eyes.

This is just a guess, but "Trixie Lulamoon" may be due to copyright or trademark issues (I forget which).
In many Transformers shows, they have a character named Ratchet . . . but often his toy version is called "Autobot Ratchet". Like, not just "Ratchet, the Autobot", but "Autobot Ratchet" as his official name. I think it's because some other company is using the name "Ratchet" for something, but obviously no one but Hasbro is going to produce a toy called "Autobot Ratchet", so it keeps the lawyers happy.
That said, I think Lulamoon is a really dumb name.

Well, to be fair, Cherry Berry had the colors first, so really it should have been Cherry Pie that they changed.
I can't wait until these four come out. I don't even mind the eyes on Lyra. I've always loved both Lyra & Trixie's color schemes and have wanted actual toys of them for quite some time, so I'm happy that we're finally getting them. I also like that they changed Sunny Rays' hair color. She looked too much like Fluttershy in the pics of her at the toy fair.
And about the DVD, why can't they package the DVD behind the pony? I don't understand why they'd cover the pony with the DVD unless they're purposely trying to hide the factory defects that they're obviously aware of. I'm really picky about my ponies, so I hate the DVDs since they block my ability to inspect the ponies thoroughly. Plus, I can't use those DVDs anyway because they won't play in my DVD player or on the PS2 and I'm afraid to try it on the PS3 since if it gets stuck or something it will be way harder to get out.

Lyra was named by bronies at first. When Hasbro released her, they thought there were legal issues with using the brony name, so they called her "Heartstrings." I guess they realized it's OK to call her whatever they want, because they changed their minds, and I think they kept the "last name" to make it less confusing that her name suddenly changed, LOL.
I don't even know what happened with Trixie. Her blind bag was named "Lulamoon," though. It was kinda dumb. No one knows why, unless Hasbro's toy division just doesn't bother watching FiM at all. Which is kinda likely.
As far as last names, go... IDK, I mean a lot of pony names are made out of two words. Always have been. So... I never even really noticed.

Cool new box art and Hasbro was kind enough to change the name for the fans and for the cartoon. The name Trixie Lunamoon is totally the cutest name.

Oh dear, Scarleos! No more Mane 6 minus Applejack/ plus Cheerilee artwork recycles. I want those cutie pies! LH's eyes makes her a little odd, but i like them all! I can't wait to have them in my growing herd!

Technically, they're not using completely "new" art. They're just applying different features (different hair/eyes) to the regular vectors. Sunny Rays' art is edited Lily Blossom art. Trixie's art is edited Twilight Sparkle art. Cherry Berry/Lyra's art is edited Pinkie Pie/Cheerilee art.
THAT BEING SAID, I don't really care that it's just edited art. They gave the ponies unique hair and features and I am so happy to see that!!
I do find it annoying that the unicorns have the G4 toy "unicorn" eyes, when the characters clearly don't have them in the show. There are also earth ponies in the show that have "unicorn" eyes, like Octavia and the spa ponies.
Remember at the fair when someone asked why all the unicorn's eyes were like that, and the Hasbro rep said something like "WE CLOSELY FOLLOW THE DESIGNS OF THE SHOW." Uh huh. No.
Annnyway, I really like these four. Beautiful color combos and Trixie and Lyra are so unique. I hope that I will be able to find them in NJ, and that they will be good quality.
I still haven't laid eyes on Cherry Pie and Diamond Rose and I don't dare buy G4s online. Too much of a gamble with the poor quality of G4s. : P

I'm 99% sure you're going to end up with like Pinkie Pie and Honeybuzz I'm afraid. Every pony has the same sku and kmart just throws in ponies at random to fulfill the orders. To them, it's just a pony and specific characters don't matter.
That being said I'm hopeful they'll start showing up in a month or two, and at TRU or Walmart instead since kmart is so overpriced and both of them are very out of the way for me. I think in the past kmarts website has been a good indicator that they will show up in stores relatively soon :)

MUST HAVE. I love that we're finally getting green and blue ponies, let alone fan favorites. I love the fusion of the Hasbro and fan names - something nice for everypony. If I get the wrong ones, I'll either send them back, sell them or use them for customs. :P I have heard that Kmart is really bad with that sort of thing.

I'm a bit confused with the names.... I just finished watching FiM Season 1 - so I saw Trixie, but I don't recall anything about her having a last name - and why didn't they sell her with her cape and hat? That would make a bit more sense IMO.

Also it gets weirder since the Heartstrings and Lyra Heartstrings blindbags look similar but not similar enough to be just a simple name change...

I think hasbro is afraid of angering the bronies, so they compromised. I wouldn't be surprised if a :muffin: Pony toy came out named Ditzy ":muffin: Pony" Doo Hooves. or something like that. Gotta please everyone.
Also, my kmart order has shipped. I can't wait to see what they send me instead of what I ordered!

Because her cutie mark is a lyre, and the strings are plucked, hence "heartstrings" :) No idea what the thought was behind Trixie's last name though :P

Trixie's name came from the first blind bag figure of her. She wasn't called "Trixie", she was called simply "Lulamoon".
