I'm so excited! I had a customer call my office Monday to place a help wanted ad in our classified section (I work for a small local newspaper as a graphic designer/office manager) for his print shop.
He was looking for a new graphic designer after the girl that has been with him needs to leave for health reasons. Well he knows that I'm in the field and wanted to see if I knew anyone that would be interested. Well I was the one that was interested (my current job is getting ready to take away the graphics part and sent it to people "up north" and leaving me with just the CSR work which I hate >_< ).
I went in this morning to interview and tour their state of the art facility with all new computer and printing equipment  . Not to mention that they pay all medical insurance premiums and offered to pay my COBRA for up to six months until I can get on their policy (which he said should be June 1st) . They offered me $1 more per hour for the first year and then a $1 raise after the 1st year and then raises every year after that (I've been at my current job for 3+ years without a single raise. So I ofcourse jumped at the opportunity and told him yes
And I called my boss (who happens to be one of my best friends) and let her know what was going on and that I would be resigning my position effective in two weeks from Friday. She was happy for me, but sad to see me go. I told her I'd give her my written letter on Friday, cause that is the only day I work in the office with her (she's manager over 3 papers in different cities).
Now I'm nervous about the next two weeks and the prospect of starting a new career, but I'm all excited at the same time

Woot! Big congrats :D

Thanks y'all. I'm just so happy to finally get a job that is a family owned and not corporate owned :)
I went back today to turn in the papers and got to talk with them again and I just can't hardly wait to get started (but I'm a good girl and will work out my last two weeks :) )

That sounds sooo awesome! I feel like looking for a new job *sigh* But, I know even a new job would still suck as I have not completed post secondary education. I'm going back in Jan for administrative and secretarial, as it is only a year long prigram, and that seems to be the only amount of time I can handle in one program lol

It never hurts to look, you never know the perfect job may pop up :) Good luck with your studies (I tried to go for medical transcription a few years ago, but I was working full time and I ended up having to drop it after a couple of months  ).
