Remember when cartoons back then had better storylines, characters were more developed, and it had heart, along with kicking intros and equally kicking tunes along with them? Here are some of my faves:
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors:

A cartoon that Seanbaby calls "the cartoon that cannot count how many **** it does not give." The song I loved so.much, Im sharing the entire version of it:

Dungeons and Dragons:

Of Course, Transformers:

I remember the cartoons back then being darker, not so fluffy and politically correct. How I miss them. Somethings were like that until the late 90s but I have no idea what happened. When did everything become hug it out and everything will be okay? I really miss evil just being evil not evil because daddy didn't hug them enough. Come on bring back the animation with true emotion!
I showed my cousin the cartoon My Little Pony Fireflies' Adventure he couldn't believe how dark it was for a bunch of girly ponies, he was 15 at the time. He's never seen cartoons like that.
PS he was scared of Pinkie Pie so I set them up all round him before he woke up the next morning for fun. He won't spend the night with us anymore. Haha!

Whoo, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors! I definitely remember that one :) Jayce, She-Ra, and He-Man were a few of my favorites back in the day. I spent a couple years trying to remember Jayce though (remembered part of the storyline, but no title or character names) and only discovered it again fairly recently :)
Man, the good old days, huh? Cartoons nowadays just aren't the same...Thundercats and FiM are the only cartoons I watch on TV now, and both of them are continuations of cartoons from back then anyway, ironically...
-
I remember Jayce!
Some of my favorite 80's cartoons that are a little more obscure include Bravestarr (mostly for 30/30, of course), Denver the Last Dinosaur, Ghostbusters (the Ruby-Spears venture, not the one based on the film called The Real Ghostbusters), Dino Riders, Count Duckula and Danger Mouse.
-
oh yes, i remember way back when:) love the old style!
-
I LOVE the Galaxy Rangers!
-
I dont remember any of these--were they early 80's?
It looks like galaxy rangers spun off many familiar eary and mid 90's catoons though, like captain planet^^
-
So many cartoons back then...
Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Galaxy Rangers, Jayce, He-Man, Ninja Turtles, Dinoriders, Bionic Six...
I think I spent way too many Saturdays getting up early and watching cartoons on cable until noon.
lol
-
I think the only one of those I watched was Transformers.

I know I'm getting into "GEROFF MAH LAWN" territory, but none of the shows I watch now come close to the stuff I grew up with in the 80s. And it makes me so sad that I have trouble finding anyone who even remembers my two favourite shows from that time, let alone *watched* them: Wildfire and Kidd Video.
I'm betting to find some people who remember Wildfire here, though! It WAS a magical talking equine-themed show, after all. ;) And I feel so ashamed that I did not know that Peter Beagle (The Last Unicorn) worked on Wildfire till I watched the extras on The Last Unicorn Blu-Ray a few months ago! How did I not already know this?!
Wildfire opening (which is gorgeous):

Kidd Video opening:

I also loved Galaxy High, Smurfs, He-Man, She-Ra, D&D, Capt. N, Super Mario Bros. Super Show/The Legend of Zelda, and of course MLP & Friends!

I remember Wildfire and Kidd Video!!
Some of my favorites: of course, My Little Pony :D And Voltron, Thundercats, and Teen Wolf
-
lets not forget animaniacs.. I still remember the theme tune by heart and most of the songs they sung

While we're on the topic of old cartoons, did anyone else ever watch Pirates of Dark Water? I used to LOVE that one, but no one I've talked to has ever seen it :( I watched it along with things like Godzilla, Johnny Quest, Birdman, Space Ghost, Thundarr the Barbarian, and Herculoids...And then of course there were things like Captain Planet, Gummi Bears, Rescue Rangers, Tailspin, and Duck Tales...
And then there was the girly stuff like My Little Pony and Lady Lovelylocks....Man I loved Lady Lovelylocks!
Childhood, come back! ;A; I sound like such a geezer! :drunk:
-
Lady Lovelylocks! I used to have some of those dolls, and I still have a bunch of Pixietails in with my ponies. And I do remember the TV show, though barely! I mostly recall the Prince who was turned into a dog for some reason.
-
I'm betting to find some people who remember Wildfire here, though!
Of course! It was one of my favorites. In fact, I just recently watched the whole series again on YouTube.

Yes! I loved that one too!
Other lesser known ones I remember watching were Biskitts and Paw Paws.
-
Pirates of Dark Water was interesting. I even bought the SNES game of it.
-
I never saw Pirates of Dark Water! We missed out on a lot of stuff being so far out in the middle of nowhere. There was only one TV station that gave us good reception. The other stations only came in during certain times of the day or not at all. We didn't get satellite till 2000 or 2001, by which time most of the classics were gone from the airwaves. :/ I only got to see some of the shows I did because we would go to my grandparents' for dinner every Tuesday plus some weekends, and they lived in town and had cable.
Oh, I just thought of another one! Rose Petal Place--I don't remember watching it AT ALL, but I do remember being a fan and having some picture and sticker books from it. I remember a story about the lead character getting trapped in a dark place and crying because she would wither away if she didn't get sunlight.
-
I loved Denver the Last Dinosaur. Anybody remember DTV? Disney's music videos?
-
I LOVE the Galaxy Rangers!
Hello, fellow Ranger fan! Heres a link to their alternate ending theme "Rangers are Forever" which if it werent for the fact it was from a cartoon show I coulve sworn it was from a Top Chart in radio, its that good:

-
Yay for Animaniacs!
-
I love the older cartoons. Their plots, villains and art was far superior. Some day I hope that we will go back to making cartoons like those.
-
I used to watch pirates of dark water while getting ready for school.
-
I wasI LOVED The Pirates of Dark Water and Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors! So happy that they were both released to dvd finally!
Let's not forget probably one of THE best animated kitty shows to date. A show that has one of THE best heavy metal theme songs ( that is now going to get stuck in my head all day )...
Swat Kats: the Radical Squadron
Season 1 intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_AdxJWFUh4&sns=em
Season 2 intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzVaEf7_UD4&sns=em
I was also addicted to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Biker Mice from Mars, Cowboys of moo Mesa, Denver the Last Dinosaur, The Little Prince from Outer Space, Captain N, Legend of Zelda, Belle and Sebastian, The Adventures of the Little Koala, ReBoot, and yeah, of course, My Little Pony.

Not sure if anyone here gets Qubo which is a channel showing cartoons for a yoing demographic but every weeknight at 10 pm they show classic episodes of He-Man, She-Ra, Bravestarr, and Ghostbusters, two episodes of each show as well.
