Title: HASBRO's New TROLL-IFICATION Policy!
Post by: BigBrotherPony on April 28, 2012, 08:38:04 AM
Is it just me or has HASBRO either recieved an extra cheap shipment of Troll Hair fur fabric , or are they trying to brainwash the planet into loving rainbow coloured faux fur in time for the launch of the up and coming Troll movie and I guess their impending product launch?

So far HASBRO had managed to Trollify; Littlest Pestshop pets with their new fuzzy dos, My Little Pony's Shinning Armor with his unruly marital frizz, Fur-real pets are covered in the stuff, and now Dizzy Dancers have it sprouting from their twirling bonces!

That is all amounting to one very bad hair day/year in my book! Enough with the static, acrylic styling HASBRO, wash those tangles out of your hair and bring back glossy flowing cascades of smooth, smooth shimmering nylon:)

Amen!!  I despise troll hair (well Trolls in general for the matter!).  "Come on man", Hasbro...I'd really like to see Shining Armour with some decent hair.  Once I get my hands on one, I might rehair him!

it makes me wanna get some frizzy cream to put in it, but i'm scared i'll ruin shining armor if i do. :(

Good thing my ponies all end up dehaired anyway. Since the regular hair on G4s already tends to end up messed up.
I'm seriously considering switching to resin manes for them. Atleast all the major characters seem to be provided for by the community.

I know I don't like troll hair either.   I offered to buy a Troll at thrift and try conditioning it, ... but all of a sudden there are NONE to be found. :( sorry team,  but I'll keep looking

I'm not too fond of it either. Admittedly, I don't mind it on Shining Armor, but I'd prefer a proper mane overall.

*looks up at my Treasure Troll* I had no idea there was going to be a Troll movie. I like Trolls but I have a feeling it's gonna be cheesy. I don't care for the troll style hair on Shining Armour either.

Hasbro, quit trollin' us!

I think Hasbro was trying to avoid making Shining Armor too "girly" with the standard nylon hair. As for the other toy lines... That is pretty curious! Perhaps one of the more influential people in the toy design circle has started to favor this stuff or something.

I was definitely on the "nasty" side when I saw Shining Armour and unfortunately his mane and tail do have that horrible troll hair texture. But....[preparing to duck fakies] I actually think it works for him - just look, dont touch. Maybe its because I have my lovely handsome G1 boys with their long flowing locks so I have my "Fabio" quotient filled but I dont mind this on SA and I "think" I might be able to live with it if thats their plan for other boys...

Blah, I can't stand troll hair
I feel like it's a cheaper way for them to hair ponies instead of doing it the right way by threading locks. I get that they are trying to make the male ponies look different from the girls or something but realistically, male and female ponies both have long, flowy manes   plus, the male ponies have a totally different build than the females. I wish that they would just toss the troll hair idea. I mean look at Shining Armour in the Royal Wedding episode... he's a handsome guy, hair and all but his toy looks pretty freaky

I don't care for the troll hair either, especially on the ponies.  It's just too fluffy and flighty.  Hopefully Shining Armor is just a one-off and they'll return to the normal hair.

I don't like the Troll hair, to me it looks like they are slowly balding.  I will probably leave Shining Armour's hair alone when I get him, but I am sincerely hoping his Troll hair is a one time thing in the MLP line.

You're not alone on this, I don't like it much, but I can see it working on male ponies
But I still think I'll be rehairing my Shining Armour when I get him =p

I wouldn't mind troll hair if it were long enough like other ponies or made of good quality so that it wouldn't shed when I touch his hair. I have a bad feeling that in a few years with enough play, Shining Armor is going to be bald, though. Overall, I'd much prefer the usual pony hair.

Oh now I have read this I'm not sure if Hasbro still has the Troll license to make the toys after all!
:/

Maybe they are just piggybacking on Troll trends instead! :)

I don't really mind troll hair if it makes sense to use it like for fur on the LPS. However it doesn't make sense for pony hair.

I think it's silly to go to such lengths to differentiate the male and female ponies XD Especially because I can guarantee you that there are tons of little boys who think Rainbow Dash, Scootaloo and Applejack are boys! Even with the occasional dress-wearing. I know a few 5 year olds who are absolutely set on it :P

I thought the troll hair was... a bit weird at first xD But it's definitely growing on me! Not literally of course, that would be a disaster.

I wonder if it would be possible to glue a strip of that stuff on in place of his original hair. I think there might be different qualities of troll hair since with old trolls some brands held up through the years better than others.

Also speaking of troll hair has anyone seen MGA's Kachooz?

I would be OK with Hasbro using troll hair for the boy ponies if they had at least put some effort into it.... Shining Armor's hair is a flimsy-excuse-for-hairing-a-pony-and-attempting-to-not-have-it-look-too-girly.

Troll hair on boy ponies: OK

Troll hair slapped on just to "get it over with": NOT OK
(Shining Armor's tail.... Really...?!)

Care Bears and Popples have 'troll hair' it is very hard to comb the knots out and look good after they've been in the washing machine, it takes ages!I think it kinda suits them though.  I also actually think that kinda hair suits the G3 so soft newborn talking baby plush dolls as it's kinda cute on Baby ponies and like a a little mohawk, aw. I however don't like the idea of that kind of hair on regular ponies!  It does kinda defeat the purpose of the stylable hair idea!   :(

Troll hair on ponies is evil.  lol  Not to mention it will get matted and tangled eventually.  ::looks at his plushies with similar hair and grumbles::  And you can't brush it.  Looking at it from a kids' standpoint...isn't that part of the fun of having a pony?  Brushing the hair?
Title: Re: HASBRO's New TROLL-IFICATION Policy!
Post by: SheRa-dude on April 29, 2012, 01:21:14 PM
Brushing the hair?

Yep... But in an attempt to make boy ponies less girly and appeal to a larger mass, I can understand why Hasbro would move away from the brushable hair for boys.  I'm not saying that it makes genuine sense; just saying that IMO, Hasbro's vision is as follows: Brushable=girly, Non-brushable=boyish.

But, like I said in a previous post: I'm OK with the non-brushable troll hair, Hasbro, but at least make it good and worth its bucks...
Shining Armor's tail is a poor excuse for troll hair on pony....

I hate troll hair ;_;  (And trolls in general, they scare me)

I just hope is a once time in SA case... but if they're planning on releasing more boys (and I really hope they will), please bring back the amazing soft and smooth hair!

G1 BB hare amazing hair, they could just give a new hair do to the males instead on that troll hair (eyeing my mohawk'd Tex that is really handsome).  Short manes, yes, also short tails (but not THAT short), but not troll hair!

I don't like being trolled by the makers of our ponies ¬¬X

I don't really understand that reasoning, though. Does Hasbro thinks kids care more about their toys looking "extra-masculine" than actually being fun to play with? I never got that...as a kid, I hated toys of male characters that didn't have brushable hair, and it was a big factor in why I didn't want them. I loved that the Big Brothers had brushable hair!

I'm not a fan of the troll hair. Why can't the boys have the same hair, only a bit shorter? I mean, they're built different (the boys are bulkier and have different shaped hooves and jawlines than the girls) enough where there's really no need for different hair to tell apart the males and females.

That's... a scary thought.  A pony with a haircut isn't that big problem for me, because -for me- that means that some kid really played with it a lot.  But... pulling apart the hair?  I'm not sure if any kid will still want to play with a pony that no longer has hair =S

(But thinking at trift stores and bald ponies and the loose faux fur hair is funny in a strange way XD )

Thank you for that! I can imagine a child tugging on the hair slightly and then pull out the whole hair.
