I did receive a custom from Whippetluv. I am very disappointed in the quality of work, and I have received guidance from the Mods on how to handle this situation, this thread, and feedback.
I would like to provide more details in hopes that this wont happen to someone else. I have kept all my PM's to her and all hers to me at the TP as well as our emails.
Whippetluv created a post at the TP last Sept asking for someone to do a personal Halloween swap with her, so I PM'd her. We agreed on a shipping deadline of 10-14-11. She received my custom in Oct and replied on 10-30-11 saying:
"YES she arrived and is wonderful! What a fun theme for her. I put her with my Fair Pony and they make a great pair. Makes me want to make myself a scarab custom now! "

After running weeks past the deadline, her first excuse 11/20/2011 was that it was boxed and ready to mail and that her roommate accidently threw it away in the garbage. She offered to pay for mine or make it over. I'm a fan of her work so I wanted it made over and she said she would start 11/22/2011. I hear nothing for a few months, so I send her a PM. On 2/20/2012 she said she would finisher her that week and get her in the mail. that was the last I heard from her until my trader support thread where others helped me get in contact. Her next excuse 4/26/12 was that her pony room had flooded so she had packed ponies up including the custom but that I would love her.
After telling me more than once the past couple weeks that she was mailing it "today" she finally emailed me a delivery confirmation number.

I first contacted the Mods as they were aware of this thread, asking what I should do since I had waited 8 months and was disappointed in what I received.
Following their advice, I contacted Whippetluv to let her know how I felt, saying
"The custom and extras arrived safely.
I have to say though that I'm disappointed in the quality of the custom, especially with the number of months it took to complete. I've seen your beautiful work first-hand, and this custom is just way below the standard I was expecting.
I wanted to let you know how I feel before leaving any kind of feedback."
note: the extras are 2 g3 breezies and a couple cheap halloween goodies
She replied:
"Thats actually kinda funny because I felt the same way about the one I got from you. Poorly sculpted hair and rudementry snakes that had nothing to do with Halloween. It was nothing like the elaborate customs you had at the fair last year. I will be glad to mail it back to you."
This is contrary to what she told me 8 months ago. If she had told me then that she was unhappy, I would have worked with her to fix it, but she sounded happy in the reply I quoted above.
Her list for the "Halloween" swap did include Egyptian customs and I know she likes snakes so I melded those. She also, did not make a Halloween custom, but chose "dragon" from my list.
I have let her know that I would be happy to take my now-unwanted custom back. I also told her that I will mail this one back to her if she wants, but I asked that since it took so long to get this one that she mail mine first (with DC#) so that I know it's been mailed. That email was 6-12-12 and I have not received a reply yet.
I have been advised to also post this at the TP since that's where this started.

I was in contact with her briefly on 4/26. she said she'd had a flood in her basement and packaged things up including my custom..and asked for my address
I have not heard from her since then, and I have not received the pony. I emailed her again on 5/11 (2 weeks after she asked for my address)

I know she's more on the MLPTP
but I'm still waiting on my custom from halloween from her (she has already received the custom I made for her)...there was an issue and she needed to remake the custom, so we *were* in contact
but...the last PM I had from her was Feb 20, 2012 as a reply to the PM I sent her asking if it was done, and her reply was that she would finish painting it that week
she's usually so good so I've been patient...but I've PM'd her on the following dates with no reply

Have you tried sending her PM's both here and on the TP?

She hasnt been around here for quite a long time as Ponylady mentioned, so it would be very helpful if you would contact her on Facebook- thank you babylofty :hug:

She posted pics of her new mice as of May 15, and I've just messaged her to head back to this thread, so hopefully we'll see her here soon.

Roogna, she said the earliest she can get to the post office is Friday, so I'm taking that to mean she will be shipping this week. I hope she comes through at this point.
She said if you need to get in touch with her, best way is through email right now.

That is very disappointing to hear Roogna. It has been a terribly long time to make you wait even if real life issues could have got in the way.
I suppose it might be time to look at leaving appropriate feedback. :(

I agree with Ponylady. I think at this stage you should leave appropriate feedback for her. If she does work things out with you then you can leave a revised feedback later.... you've already been waiting almost 8 months (which is much longer than a lot of people would have waited ), and the communication has stopped too :( I know RL can get in the way but this isnt looking good

Any news on this? I only ask as I was the earlier bridge between you two. I'll be happy to be so again. I know she went to the beach last weekend, so she's not holed up in her home or anything.

I got an email this morning telling me she was out of town the past few days and that she will mail it today and send me a tracking # (which I requested in earlier emails with her)

I think sending the customs back is the best (or least worse) thing to do at this point. Just wanted to say that your egyptian custom was gorgeous.

It's a shame it worked out that way. I've had a few swap disappointments in my day and it is really crushing. You can't help but get all excited and then when things don't turn out the way you want it's very upsetting. It sounds to me like they were sad you didn't like their custom and they took it really personally and lashed out at you. No one likes it when something they made isn't enjoyed. But it is important to be honest. How else can folks improve? The right thing to do isn't just to quietly accept your disappointment. The right thing to do is address your concerns so both people can work something out.
I'm a big fan of yours Roogna so if you ever want to do another personal swap I would jump on that. Just saying. :shifty:
