Title: Brazil Dancing Butterflies w/ green hair
Post by: angelponies on April 19, 2012, 11:03:37 PM
I have a quick Nirvana question! :satisfied: I bought a Brazillian DB to go with her Spanish sister and when I received her today, her hair is green! I looked in the Nirvana albums and the one on there has yellow hair. But my new DB has Green hair, almost lime green. She is not rehaired and it is the same color inside on her roots and her tail. Does anyone else have a DB with lime green hair? Could yellow hair fade to green? It is really neat, but I am wondering if there are others that way too :tellme: I will post photos of her tomorrow when it is light, my camera takes really lousy pictures at night

Thankies!! ^.^

Oh my god I love her. *A*
I know naturally blonde hair can get a greenish tint if you are constantly exposed to chlorinated water, but I have no idea about ponies. And I doubt she's secretly an olympic swimmer. :P

Yea I was wondering if it was cleaned and the hair was bleached out...I do remember someone posting about their sugarberry and the tail went from red to blonde, and I can see how yellow would get a tinged green in appearance...she is pretty, and is it just me but are symbols more colorful and prettier

Hmm.. I know of a collector who bought a brazil Applejack that was rehaired to a diffrent color, but it had been done by the factory (somehow the pony had been taken back later when the hair was all messy and frizzy so she could get new hair)
I don't know the whole story about this though! :)

do you have any other brazil ponies to compair her hair with? that looks like the green used in the brazil rainbow ponies to me :) can you take a picture of her tail washer? does she have one or two rows of hair in her mane?

What a neat hair colour! I never really liked the face that Dancing Butterfly's hair was the exact same colour as her body. Is it possible that it could have been dyed? Is it the same colour on the inside?

Edit: oops, sorry for the dumb question, I just read the post again and angelponies clearly said that it's the same colour on the inside!

I don't have another Brazil to compare her to yet, but I will soon  :satisfied:
maybe she is a factory rehair then, she has the two parts going down like yours Pkw,

She has really short hair on the inside, nothing is hanging or out of place, it is kinda weird in there and hard to see because she still has her neck seam on  but they look like little seeds?

And her tail has a band on it with the end being really hard, it is weird too~

Hmm, looking at the inside it looks like a rehair.

The inside of her head looks like a lot of the Argentina rehaired ponies, but again it may look different in person since its hard to see in a picture with the Brazil pony neck style. It could also be an Estrela "toy hospital" factory rehair. I don't think it's original, as in "originally sold in the store like that", but since we know that Brazil did repair toys at the factory it could still be "factory original" not customized. She's pretty neat looking, either way.

I am thinking factory rehair too, just because of what the inside of her head looks like, I wish I could get a better picture of it :P but my camera sucks as it is and she has a small head hole!  maybe I will bring her to Convention and people can see up close, it doesn't look like a personal rehair to me, so I am thinking factory, but I like her either way  :satisfied:

My best friend's Sugarberry is the one you're mentioned there. C: It was due to exposure to hydrogen peroxide and her mane, not her tail.

Here she is, her tail was left out of the hydrogen peroxide which is why it is still the normal Sugarberry color.

And here is a much more relevant photo, said Sugarberry's bleached mane compared to a US Dancing Butterfly's mane.

I don't know if it will be much help for your mystery, but I can see the potential of chlorine turning it green. I'm hardly an expert in rehairing either so no help there either. Good luck though! Rehair or not, I actually rather like that color on her.

OMG!!!! look at that sugarberry's hair!!! i am shocked at the colour change done to her mane by the hydrogen peroxide!!!

back to the brazil BD, i would think she is some sort of rehair on looking inside her head. does her washer have any sort of rust? do the little "seeds" look like melted plastic? that was one way of sealing the plugs instead of knotting. i have seen ponies with those little seeds before.

Hehe I wanna try that on someone! I have some Peroxide  :satisfied:

Yep, I think it could be burnt ends maybe? If that is what it looks like with the little seeds, her tail looks like it has melted something on the end then banded. So would she be a personal rehair then or factory rehair?  :satisfied: thanks for helping to solve the mystery everyone  ^.^

That's most likely a rehair; back in the day, Estrela used to have a doll hospital so they would take the toy back to be repaired; Brazilian pony hair is so dry they would frizz after a week outside theys cards, and so the kids would send the pony to get a new hair; but in that case the hair would have the factory weave, if I remember correctly...
She looks pretty with green hair, makes her a nationalist pony XD

I have a re-haired Northstar that PKW mentioned but I haven't attempted to take her head off. I'm glad I found out about the toy hospital because I might have rehaired her myself had I not known  . So it appears there are a few brazil 'toy hospital rehairs' now.
Wow to that Sugarberry

She's absolutely gorgeous, I love her!!  Wow Angel, you have such an amazing collection:)  That green-hue plus the length of her hair is really breath-taking; it gives her this ethereal, *angelic* and romantic look.  Sigh, so lovely :lovey:

Thanks so much everyone
Thanks michelle  I love her angelic look too!

That is neat a Hospital for toys to get new hair  too bad they are not around here, I have some ponies that could use a nice rehair  :P
So was the Toy Hospital a manufacturer idea? :pizza:

She does look kind of cool like that! I would tentatively say factory rehair as well. How does the consistency feel compared to other Brazilians?

That's really odd. I also think it seens like a well done re-hair. I never saw a BR DB with a mane that long.
It's a lovely pony anyway ^_^ congrats.

The Toy's Hospital used to be Estrela's costumer care as well, they could re-hair any toy/doll with original hair, replace missing parts (we could even by replacements combs and stuff) , there are no Hospital left these days.
I believe the last one closed a few years ago.

Estrela still have a toy Museum in Sao Paulo, but they don't offer any other services anymore.

Wow... it's difficult to place her with that green hair. I'm SO used to the wonderful yellow shade. In any case, major congratulations!

Hey Guys,

I just noticed when you look very close to both Brazil DBs - you can see the the print of the cutie marks is also a bit different!!  ;)

They are and she doesn't have a cutie mark on her forehead like her sister  :satisfied:
I will compare her to my other Brazil when she arrives to see if the hair is the same texture and stuff, thanks so much

Actually they have existed from time to time in the US for specific toys. I sent my American Girl Doll to their hospital to have her hair replaced :) She came back with a hospital gown on and a "Get Well Soon" balloon lol! I really wish Hasbro had made a pony hospital here :P
