Title: Dollhouse makeover question
Post by: 4Lindy on April 13, 2012, 06:46:55 AM
OK...you folk have again inspired me....we have an old Barbie dollhouse, if you want to see a picture of the exact one I'm talking about here is the name, you can search it on ebay......1995 Barbie Dream House Victorian Style With Working Elevator........

Anyway, here is my question, if I remodelled it/ customized it for a MH house for my daughter....what kind of paint would you use so that it will stick to the hard plastic and not chip off with play use????  Any ideas would be great!  Thanks all!

I think the Krylon for plastic would work really well.

I'm customiszing a Barbie playset into an MH set too! Can't wait to see when you are done!
I'm just airbrusing mine since it will only be for display. It comes off too easily.

i love the krylon for plastic! it may still see some chipping, but not like if you used regular paints.

and i really suggest going all out on prepping it and making sure it's clean to the max before painting it, any dirt/dust/grease/oils/etc will tend to allow more chipping. maybe a little scotchbriting/mr. clean magic eraser to help prep the surface?

like with a FBR on a pony, several light layers will help too. and i know others have to have more suggestions ... lol
