This auction here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220996753112?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1287)....why so high? is there a pony in there I am just not seeing?
-
I can't see anything special, maybe the Surfshop house? :S
-
Someone really wanted all those fakies!!
I don't see anything special either.
-
Really good questions. I could not find the shinning prize on these pictures as well >.o
-
I guess they liked fakies and there is nothing wrong with that!
There are lots of fakie collectors out there.
-
Who's the pink G3 with the tinsel hair? She's a fakie, right?

that was my guess too. maybe there was one (or some) particular pony the buyer liked that much. I know from personal experience that I can spend crazy prices if I find something I fall in love with, regardless of its value as a collectors item.
another guess would be a newly-crazed pony lover child who(se mother) doesn't mind whether it's a fake or not but wants to make things easy - and buying a bunch at once is definitely easier than buying them separated. and you won't get a lot that consists of all-originals for this price, so if your goal is getting as much ponies (of any kind) as possible in the easiest way than this auction's for you.
(but of course in both cases you need at least 2 of these possible types of buyers, so it should still be a coincidence)

Oooooh, fakies! :dribble:
I would shamelessly pay $21 for that lot, but 21 BP is a bit excessive. I don't really see anything particularly valuable or sought-after, except for what I think is a SHS fakie in the back. Even still, that is kind of a lot. But oh well... at least they'll be going to a good home where someone loves and appreciates fakies as much as ponies from Hasbro.
I hope.
It sure would be a shame, I would think, for a lot to go that high if they were just intended as custom baits or something.

Someone.... Really wanted Waterfire? :3
-
I saw this too! It was in the drop list and I thought, wow, that's really good for so many ponies! Then I checked it and realised they were mostly fakies. I don't get it either. Fakie collector maybe?

I wondered too! Looks like a G3 mold, but extra cutie marks on her shoulder?

Maybe it was that little tiny Lenard pony in the center...a high dollar fakie with a buy me cry that just made them lose their control..lol I don't know people are funny. It could be something as simple as they needed some tails for their ponies. I have seen weirder reason things go high for no easy reason to figure. lol Oh and that G3 you are talking about there on the right the pink one..those are stickers a kid stuck on the pony.

I don't know... some people really like fakies. I personally have a soft spot for those Lanard sitting fakies. :)
-
There are a lot of Lanards, which are expensive fakies, but I'd think the person is maybe newer or a non-collector just looking at how many ponies there are and not what each one would be individually. I would have been tempted myself with all those Lanards.
-
It's a nice lot; there are some good fakies there! :)
-
I'm fairly certain it is because of the red 'fake' on the bottom row. It's from the Twilight Ponies range and is one of the harder to find ones; even more so as the line has been discontinued for some time now. I know a member here was looking for that particular pony.

I really wanted both Strawberry Reef and Waterfire so I would have paid that for them.... *blush*
