Title: Disney Brave Doll
Post by: SwordPony on April 11, 2012, 07:36:48 AM
I really have to get my hands on this girl when she comes out. I love red hair. Oh and its curly too. I don't need another collection but just one won't hurt right?

She isn't out yet and isn't scheduled to be released until Fall. I don't know why the movie comes out in June.

Slightly OT, but it's so nice to see strong female role models being made into dolls! And archery is making a comeback, between this girl and the Katniss from the Hunger Games.

I actually saw her in stores here in holland! She was breathtakingly gorgeous. 25 euros unfortunately, so after walking around with her i finally put her down again.  Regret it now of course :) it was the one with the velcro gems that you could attach.to her cape.

So neat that you found her already even if you didn't buy her. I'd get you to get me one but with shipping plus the cost of the doll I'll have to wait.

I love her face!! She is so pretty and unique!!

Heads up. These dolls are out now. I just picked up 2 of the toddler dolls ftom Target. One has the blue/yellow outfit and 3 bears. The other one has a more blue/green ornate dress and a bow and arrows.

I like the one on the right better personally. The other one's eyes are just too far apart for me. I know its technically movie accurate, but it just makes her look off to me. And why are her feet smaller than her hands? Some serious proportion issues going on here. Though I do applaud them for giving the doll on the left some bodacious thighs.

I'll have to have the Mattel version. I am not fond of the Disney store version. Althought the mattel version doesn't look right I prefer it to the DS version. The DS version looks like she smelled something bad.

Yep, that's box hair, and it is pretty soft even with the bit of glue in it.  Her eyes are what win you over though.  There is something about them that just gives them such depth.

I got the Disney version of the 12" doll. The knee joints are pretty horrible on mine, I dunno WHAT happened but one leg is basically longer than the other. Thankfully she can still be balanced.

Her accessories are the best imo. The bow and arrow is awesome (and works). I just wish there were more arrows. Very much looking forward to the movie.

Just checked my e-mail and got new info from the disney store.

I'm gonna need one of those bears and the figurine set.. and the bear mug.. GAH!! Just take my MONEY DISNEY!

I snatched one up at Wal-Mart yesterday XD I had planned to just get some supplies for my truck and maybe one blind bag since I had close to 100 dollars on me. I got the blind blag....as well as Diamond Rose....and a Merida doll. I'm hopeless. They had the Brave dolls on the very end of the toy isle, towards the back wall, which is a straight shot to the automotive supplies if you're coming in through the garden center, so of course I had to see her as I was making my way over there.

AAAAAAAAnd it doesn't help that they've been playing the commercials for the doll about every day.

Clearance? Really? Maybe it was a mistake on the store's part? You'd think they'd wait until after the movie actually comes out before they do that lol. Unless they've got a new line of dolls coming in and they're making room for them.

I generally dislike dolls and find them to be unappealing. However, the 11" Disney Store Merida doll absolutely has to be mine. And possibly that LE one, too. Oh and so much of the other things (holy crap, you guys ... that snowglobe!). FFFFFFFF~!

All of them look so great! The Mattel one, and the Disney Store one, and the limited edition one. I wanna get the main DS one. I saw it in person at a DS in the local mall and it was only around $16, although I happened to not have any money at the time.

I'm thinking about picking up the 17'' Disney Store LE Merida. Does anyone here have experience with the LE dolls, does their price usually go up by a noticeable amount later on? I'm not a 100% on her yet, need to see her in person but I'm not travelling anywhere with a Disney Store in the near future so I'd have to order her online. She's a fairly pricey doll though, would be a shame if I picked her up, ended up not bonding with her and would have to sell her at a loss.

At the same time I'm still hitting myself for not picking up any of the LE designer dress girls, I adore a few of them but they're way too pricey now!
Title: Re: Disney Brave Doll
Post by: SwordPony on June 24, 2012, 06:40:52 AM
Her price will go up I'm sure after she sells out from the Disney Store. But if like the designer girls she will come back down in the months ahead.

One thing I've noticed here in the last little bit is people are flooding places with Disney stuff and the prices are going down.

I bought the Disney Store version today (the one in her dark teal dress) and her face is just stunning! I also purchased the Mattel version with Angus for my little niece last week and although that one has a sweet face too, I much prefer DS's version. Her face just has so much personality. They both remind me of Doctor Who's Amy Pond, though lol.

I also saw the film Saturday night and loved it, tbh a whole lot more than I thought I would! Merida is an amazing character.

The 17 LE disney dolls are a bit different, imo, than the designer dolls in price.
The 17 ones, always keep their value, if not way more over time. Just look at the past releases of them, Snow White, Belle, Tiana, (long haired) Rapunzel, Gothel, and wedding rapunzel. Most are above retail right now on eBay.

This one's 18 in according to the Disney store website. I dunno...honestly her costume is beautiful but her face just looks wonky to me. Her eyes are looking really far in one direction and she looks...concerned? It also bothers me that her outfit isn't from the movie.

Spoiler
I suppose it could be assumed that she made it out of Mardu's coat after he was killed but ehh...

Think I'm going to go pick tup the 11" one today after work. Curses no more dolls!  >_<

There were, I think, three(four?) different releases of Mattel Merida dolls that all use the same face mold. I don't know about the single release and gem Merida dolls, but the one that comes with the plastic Angus has swivel knees in order for her to ride her horse. The arms are in a static bent pose, however and can't be manipulated at her elbows.

My brother ordered both the LE and classic doll. Now I'm just sitting and waiting patiently for them to come and hoping they don't get lost. I wish we had a DS locally.

I really wish they'd release a single Angus horse that doesn't come with a Merida doll. And I wish they'd make one that's a bit bigger, too.

Geez, all this excitement over toys and I still haven't seen the movie yet lol.

I don't know if any info on this has been posted yet, but is the DS Merida that came in the Merida-Angus giftset able to sit on her Clydesdale? My DS Merida's legs will barely give at the join in her groin area.

I got the Disney Store 11" one today and she is completely gorgeous! Except for the fact that one leg is a tiny bit longer than the other somehow, so I don't think I can get her to stand. But I love the ball joints, how detailed and pleasant her face is, and the hair and fabric for the clothes. Well worth the money!! :D

I think my Merida's legs are even in length, but omg at her frickin swivel ankles. Damn things keep going pigeon-toed on me and it's hard to keep her upright lol.

Dinobuzz, the DS Merida doll is so beautiful, you can't go wrong with any of those incarnations. :) Plus, knowing the DS's habit of simplifying the dresses of their dolls and outright removing accessories they came with in their future releases, I personally didn't want to take the chance. I am still sad I didn't get Rapunzel when she was first released. No accurate movie dress and Pascal/painter's brush for me.

I must be the only person that doesn't like the Disney store version. I had her in my hands and I couldn't bring myself to buy her because I don't like her face. The outfit is amazing though. I wish the Mattel version outfit could be as awesome.

Our local Disney Stores have Angus just by himself he is about 50cm ish nose to tail...mind you maybe its a combination of them being in Scotland and this being the latest film but I couldnt move in Glasgow's Disney store the other day for Brave everything! Lol...:)

Is the DS store Angus a stuffed horse or a model?

The DS Angus is a stuffed horse and the Mattel Angus is a hard plastic model.

Stuffed and adorable...dont know how I managed to resist him...other than the fact I had client meetings in the afternoon and I wasnt sure if carting a half metre horse into them was the most professional look :)

I got the Disney Store 11" Merida and Transformation Queen Elinor today. They really are gorgeous, but they were packaged in a way that I did not admire. And I wasn't paying attention, so one of Merida's eyes is ... off. LOL! Ah well, I still love her.

Going to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to get stands for them. My Elinor's legs aren't totally straight and she won't stand in those heels. Merida isn't standing for me, either. Maybe I'm just lucky. Or an amateur.

I'll get some pics of Elinor once I get her on a stand.

Oh man, I want the LE one so bad T___T she's gorgeous, and I actually LOVE her faceup.  It's got more... personality than the rest <3 Aaaa I love Merida so much
I don't really have $100 to spend on her though T_T

Am I capable of getting a cheaper version of her at walmart?  Lol she's the first Disney character doll I've ever wanted so I don't know these things! XD

I feel the same way about the LE Merida. She's so lovely, but I could never justify a $100 doll when I like the 11" one fine and she was only $16.50. The Disney Store has several to choose from and I'm sure you can find some at Wal-Mart or Target, too.

All of these dolls are so beautiful. I don't collect Disney dolls, but her hair is so mesmerizing...

Got some stands a bit ago for my ladies and got some OOB photos of Elinor. I brought Elinor into Hobby Lobby with me so I could test the stands out and figure out which one would be best. People were looking at me like I was a nutter.

Yeah, I'm actually interested in a model, that's very movie accurate. I was actually watching a video clip on YouTube where some guy was doing interviews at the toy fair, and they were showing off some "Brave" merchandise and I saw a lovely Angus horse standing next to a toddler Merida. I'm guessing he hasn't been released yet, and I'm not sure if you can buy him single or if he comes with the toddler doll, but from what I could see of him, he looked stunning.

My dolls arrived this past Wednesday, which was actually the day we went to go see the movie lol. My brother brought them over the next day, and I love them both. I finally got around to taking the smaller doll out of the box, and that was the biggest pain. I was a little put off when I discovered that the back of her hair didn't have any curls and was just a big mess. I ended up taking some Garnier styling gel and a tun of straws and curled some of her hair.

Now I need to find a stand for her.

Also disappointed in Merida's hair behind her head. Poor thing.

I got a couple stands from Hobby Lobby. They're made of wood and the dolls look gorgeous on them. They also carry metal stands. I tried ordering Kaiser stands online and every site wanted $11 for shipping alone. They'll fit on the smallest wooden stand or the medium-sized one. I got the small one because it is able to sit lower on the waist if necessary, but the stand works best if the prongs are up in the armpit area for stabilization. I know the LE Merida is an inch taller, so I'd go with a medium-sized one for her if you go that route.

I forgot to post this photo with the others, because I took it on my phone. I had to stop in to 7-Eleven for a water. Gave hubbs Elinor and told him to guard her with his life. Came back and this is what I saw. LOL! She's probably a better driver than him.  :P

Love that picture, Yurusamaji. Her expression just screams that she knows what's up.

The DS Queen Elinor doll is beautiful btw, although the Mattel one has its own charm as well. The Mattel Elinor looks as though she could be Megara from Hercules' mother, though with her bone structure, especially the nose.

I was unaware that the Disney Store had its own Elinor doll! I gotta hunt her down!
Love the picture by the way.

My Wal-Mart had a ton of Brave dolls and a display and then the next week all the dolls, including the display were gone! What's up with that? :whoa:

I found some photos of a Disney Store version of a Merida and Angus set, but I cannot find it on the website and the ones on eBay are way out of my price range. Does anyone know what's up with this set? Was it a limited time thing or is it only in stores or something? I would love to get it.

I was finally able to see this movie tonight. It was FANTASTIC. I definitely need a Merida doll now!  :frolic:

How strange. I see they're selling the Angus plush separately but not the set with Angus and Merida. Perhaps they've currently run out of stock and are waiting for restock? I see it's still for sale on the UK DS site, at least...

EDIT: Turns out the Angus plush is a totally different plush than the one in the set! Just a disclaimer in case someone purchases it thinking it's the same one as the two-fer. xD

I'm pretty sure I saw these at my local DS. I don't see it on the website, either. That is really bizarre. Pretty sure it wasn't a LE set. I want to say it retails at $30-ish or so, maybe $40. I'll have to drop in and take a look soon!

Only $30 or $40? That's wonderful to hear! I can definitely justify that price. :) I'm glad she's at least on the UK site, so if I have to I can order it from there or have someone in the UK order on my behalf and ship her to me. Hopefully she gets put back up on the US site by the time I've got some money. I really don't want to buy the Mattel one just for the dress and have nothing to do with the doll. xD
