Hello Arena! :biggrin:
I'm fairly new here, After seeing all your wounderful custom ponys I wanted to share mine.
The eyes these ponys have are made by hand by me and have doll eyelashes for that extra flirty look.
The pink one is named "Bella Roza"
The blue one is a finished commission that is already been sent to thier new home. :)
I am also open for commissions!

That's cool! They remind me of Twinkle Eye ponies, but much, much prettier. (I'm not a fan of TE ponies. XD)

Panda: Yes, They where inspired partly by Twinkle-eyes ponys, but the colors are very bright and very jewl-like.
I am hoping to one day use a fausted cut for that "twinkle"
I am happy that I was able to bring something differnt to the forum, I am currently working on another "Rozen eye" pony that will be put up for sale, not sure exactly when She'll be finished, but I'll be sure that someone here has a fair chance to buy her.
A question, How much should I ask for one of my custom ponys?

Yes! They are inspired by BJDs! I collect BJDs and I make custom-eyes for them all the time. :biggrin:
The eyes are made out of acrylic-plastic.

Gorgeous ponies! I can only imagine how lovely those eyes are in real life!
Pricing is tricky, you could take offer for a few days on your first one to get an idea.

these eyes are amazing :D you have done an amzing job setting them in place. i have worked on a few twinkle eye customs (replacing eye jewels and creating a TE pony from a non-TE bait) and i found setting eyes is really hard

Yes, I am useing D.Eye.Y's from Pupapa.com, they are blank plastic eyes that are very easy to customise because they come in two seperate parts.
Orginaly for BJDs, the eyes where ment to be an inexpencive way for people to make custom eyes.

I like shareing, I had been making customs eyes for well over 7 years. :lol: Selling them on the BJDs fourm Den of Angels. as well as posting up tutorials and helping other make eyes.
The reason I wanted to share is to see what other people would do with adding these eyes to thier custom ponys.

I just checked out a few of your tutorials, and it looks simple enough for just painting the backs of the eyeballs.. But how do you actually secure them into the pony? Im really excited to see more tutorials as you have time for them! :) I have so many questions bubbling up. Would you mind if I made a list of my questions and PMd you?

I'm actually trying to remake some eyes for some fakie ponies I have, this could be useful for me! The bad thing is... looking at the links they are not the shape I need for eye blanks :c Or not... looked in the wrong place XD

I used to sell eyes, but it's becoming hard for me since I live a why out in the boonies, it's hard to get to the post office. (I walk 20 mins down highways into the nearst town.) ^^; ;
But, I don't mind offering ready made eyes if I'm asked, It will just take me awhile to get them shipped out.
And......There's the problem on the money end of things, I have any right now which is why I'm gonna try to sell a custom pony to buy more eye makeing supplies.
I don't like to ask for custom eye payments untill the the eyes are compleated. ^^; ;;

Thank you! I love her, she's not exactly "perfect" But she's so pretty, My first "rose" I don't have her on hand right now. (I like to update her photos.) My mother is keeping my herd in another town. I can't wait to get back home to see her again. :)

Meanwhile, I offer photos from the tut. (This method will slightly damage the eye-base. but if places correctly in the pony, the damage of the pin-hole will not show)
Step one:

Basicly Your making a hole on the base on the side of the iris then useing a pin to stick under the iris to pry it up and out.

These are stunning, I love your eyes I have some exspensive ones ready painted that I was going to use but I think I got the wrong size or I cut the wrong size hole so I gave up, I would love to see how you cut the ponies eye holes to know how they fit in and what size eyes you use? Can you do a tutorial for us and what glue do you use to keep them in? I'm not too keen on the eye lashes though! By the way your painting is stunning, that rose is beautiful!

Ah I see! I might have to try it with some eyes I pulled from a pony already. Also, love the fact the BJD is the one handling the eye and needle! Saves your hands from pain... sort of XD

Hee hee, I was having a bit of fun with my dolls.
Ya know.... the very first set of eyes that I customised was that of a beddybye baby. THey where so rusty and ugly that I used a pin to pry the eye chip out and clean the back of it then repainted it red. then glued it back.
I don't like Beddybye babies I find them rather creepy. so it was my first "victim"

Lol I know what you mean with the BBEs... actually the first eyes I dismantled but never customed were BBEs for ponies... found out those were easy to get he eye chips out without having really pry anything but the casing around the eyes themselves XD I'll have to give this a try though, but not with the eyes I already have since they are the only ones I have for this set of ponies XD *TO ORDERING! ..... soon*

Amazing work, Lovely to see something so unique, altho sounds like well be seeing more of them around now, so will not be so unique anymore, but still amazing. I bet theyre so much more beautiful in real life, cameras really dont show true beauty in colourchange things!

Okay they are not quite what I thought they were. I thought they were these smooth round stick on gems I got at Michaels.

Those eyes are something else, and it's so kind of you to share your technique with everyone! While I think these eyes are definitely the highlights of the customs (I can't stop looking at them, they're so pretty!), the symbols are lovely, too. Such perfect, delicate lines and details!
As for pricing commissions... like CSA said, that one's tricky. :blush: One way to start is to set a price that you would be very happy with. If your customs sell quickly at that price, you can raise the price if you're comfortable doing so; if they don't sell as fast as you'd like, you can lower it.

On page two of that thread you linked, Avea states that the pony is made by "allgoodstrading" and also links to a david bowie pony picture with glass eyes.

These eyes look wonderful, I can't view your videos as the contain music of SME and it's not allowed because the german GEMA restricted it to play. Do you have it without the music too maybe?

Oh....ugh, Sorry, but those eyes and lash combo, to be frank, are ugly. Are you sure this was a Hasbro prototype design?
My gripe is: THe eye itself is natrual colors with a black pupil, in where lies the "creepiness" factor, more fantastical colors and a silghtly darker pupil (From the orginal color) would have made the pony more "Fantasy-like" and lowered the uncanny vally effect that eyes with black pupil have. (Eyes are too realistic.)
And the fact that the lashes all one lenth with no tapering at the corners look like a dead caterplier........
...but I mean......It's a nice pony ._.

As for the pony with those "real eyes" it was indeed done by allgoodstrading and she used prefabricated silicone eyes by EyeCo. I asked her about it and did 2 ponies by myself with these ones yet (more will come in the near future):

people can be very greedy when they want to make money,
....I still think that they are creepy. *lol* It's the pupils that creep me out, it's a bit too real in toy ponys.
If I where to make a "natural" colored fart, I'd use very dark brown eyes for the eyes. that way it's more natural in terms of real ponys and horses.

Yeah no like I said they were made by Allgoodstrading, I just wanted to point out that they were not a hasbro proto like in the post on TP.
I had some all pink ones, they were dark pink pupils and like pink around the outside but I ruined them trying to get them to fit :(

@ cookhuman: I think that it's the pupils, dark-black pupils w/light colored iris' in ponies are not to my taste saddly. ^^;;
