Title: Ever watch FiM with YouTube's Closed Captioning?
Post by: StarSwirl05 on March 29, 2012, 02:28:37 PM
I was watching the Art of the Dress with Closed Captioning and it's almost humorous to see how far off the captions are from the audio. Have you? If so, post your findings.

I LOVE watching episodes with CC! It's just so ridiculous and can come up with the craziest things. For example:

oh fluttershy.

Mine aren't hardly ever off on any show.  So I honestly didn't notice.  My siblings are both almost totally deaf so there are several times we just watch tv with the sound off entirely anyway.  Interesting to see if someone finds things to be off.

It's through that that fans came up with "Steven Magnet" for the purple serpent in S1E2.

It's almost like the captions are going by character expression because the ones you've posted, Behemoth, match perfectly with the character expressions.

I listened to "Art of the Dress" with the captions and got a funny moment where Rarity finished singing "I'm sewing Twilight's dress" and out came the caption "that's right".

Traumatic chicken legs? I wonder what on earth that was meant to be!

You Tube's CC system is hilarious though, but I'm assuming it's an automated speech recognition program so I'm rather impressed it ever gets anything right.

Well this solves any problems about episodes we don't like. Just mute the audio, turn on the closed captioning and laugh away.
