Title: Price Check on Columbians?
Post by: ApertureScience on March 23, 2012, 07:56:04 PM
I posted about this in the Corral but I was told to ask here to see if I could get any good answers.  Can I get price checks on these Columbian Bow Ties?

Edit:  I probably should have mentioned that I'm looking to buy these.  Sorry for any confusion.

i would have thought about $100-$150 each at the moment, $200 tops if they are in good condition.

the prices of the colombian ponies has dropped so much.

the last bowtie i saw on ebay went for $300, but she was in beautiful condition, she was the white version with blue/rainbow hair. not many of that version have been found so far and she is so pretty, which is why i think she went for the $300 mark.

prices can be fickle according to the pony's condition and the variation that is being sold.

I do think the drop in price on Columbians is because our focus is on the new Venezulan ponies at the moment...part of the reason I stopped wanting "every Bow Tie" was the Columbian prices were terrifying but now with quite a few of them about and more seeming to pop up now and again they are certainly lowering themselves into the more affordable [although of course still expensive] bracket

I agree, hathorcat: I think the interest in Venezuelans has caused a bit of a drop in Colombians. But they were down a lot before then anyway. I would agree with generally $150-200, more if in fabulous condition. The peach/orange ones possibly a bit higher though. They are on  the less 'common' side.

Another problem I see with the Colombians is that Lars is one of the 2 primary sellers of them, and many people are wary of him or just refuse to buy from him due to his history, which could contribute to the lower prices. Not many Colombians showed up in nice shape it seemed like either. :awake:

have many been surfacing? I have only seen two lately

those bowties are more on the rare side if I am right. so I would guess the price would be around $100-$200 more if people just have to have it. I think that yellow one sold for around $400.  the blue colombian bowties are much more available and can be more affordable. I have 3 colombian bowties and spent between $150-$200 on them each.  prices have droped but I agree it's because the condition isn't very good, and Lars has a past.  it also seems like they come in waves, so don't get discouraged if you don't see any for awhile! you should also check out Ember1's site to make you really drool. and good luck with your search!

maycrestmom - the Applejacks do not show up much at all so they are easily around the $300+ mark for a ok condition one.  this is just what I have noticed in my colombian pony searches.

they have slowed down lately, there was a phase when quite a few were for sale on ebay.

i also agree with glacia that lars incident pushed the prices down.

It seems his eBay ID is no longer valid, so hopefully this means no more Columbian pony scams.  :lookround:

I don't even want to say how much I paid for my yellow body/green hair bowtie! Yikes. I forget how much I paid for her "matching" baby (no symbol). Maybe that's a good thing. lol I'm not too worried though. If you wait long enough, they'll probably go back up some.

Seems like a great time to buy! Good luck. :)

prices go up and down so much  TBH you can never predict how a pony price will behave with time, they may go back up again.
