Title: I'm so mad at myself!
Post by: Sunset on March 17, 2012, 08:19:59 PM
I have two plush non-mlp unicorns that I love.  Well, I decided to wash and dry them using the washer and dryer.  Now I seriously regret it.  They use to have this lovely fly-away hair for their mane, tail, and and around their hooves.  Now, it is a tangled cottony mess.  I'm afraid there is no way to fix it.

Could you post pics? Some members might be able to help :)

Unfortunately most synthetic fabrics used to make plush toys can melt at the temperature of a dryer, you should never use heat on them - drip dry or air tumble only.  The plastic actually melts, and after that there usually isn't anything you can do.

Another tip I've used for our stuff animals is to tie them into pillow cases before washing and drying and yes, no heat for drying.

Another way to freshen up stuffed animals is to put them out in the sun they may fade but most of ours have not faded.

you may still beable to restore some of it, same way you would frizzy birdnest pony hair <3  It wont be 100% but it should be an improvement <3

Well, I did use a pony brush and work on one of them last night.  Sadly, I'm certain that it will never be as it was.  However, it was an improvement to get it all brushed out.

I'm sorry. That really stinks. I'm glad you were able to improve it a little at least!

A little improvement is better than nothing. I second the suggestion to post pics - it can be easier to offer suggestions if you can see what you're trying to fix ;)
