I didn't see a thread so I decided to start one. (Please delete if duplicate)

A new Pony Project has been announced for 2012 in LA! As many of you remember the pony project is where artists are called upon to customize larger ponies for charity. This will be the third pony project, the first two in New York.

It sounds like there will be a ton of custom merchandise for this (welovefine will have a booth) event that will last many days. I am so excited, I can't wait to see the art and the stuff. I wish they announced it sooner so I could hop a plane to get there.

Below are links to Mlp News and facebook with the details thus far.

In LA? Maybe I can make an excuse to go there by somehow conveniently planning to visit relatives.... I wonder if they will have giant G4 ponies, like they had those giant G3s a few years ago? :D

I think this sounds super duper exciting, and I hope something amazing will surface out of it.

I saw the other picture that had G4 Rarity and Pinkie Pie... but that picture has G3. I would really consider finding someway to go if it was mostly G4 based. *crosses fingers* I hope more information surfaces soon.

I went to the first one in NY.  It was really cool.  The second one was not as cool because it was "invitation only" so the general public only got to see pics of the ponies.  I do love that they then allowed anyone to buy them via ebay bidding though.

Sadly, LA is too far for me to go.  Ah well.

DO WANT!!! :D Are civilians (LOL) allowed to go on opening night...? I would love to go, but I feel like it might be an artist-only thing...

I'm really excited for this, one of my favourite artists tweeted her blank pony the other day. :)

And just to maybe confirm, the artist I follow has been sent a G3 mold.

That is awesome! I'm also kinda happy to see G3 again.
Though i bet the event might get a lot of complaints from the brony community because of the use of G3. Not looking forward to that.

This is both awesome and depressing. Of course this would happen after we move from LA, and happens during my birthday too.

Yes, one of the participating artists confirmed it is the g3 mold used previously...but that doesn't mean the merchandise is g3.

I am most curious about what merch they will sell besides shirts and what will be available outside of la.

I wish I could go so bad.

WAAAAA!!!!  I LOVE Pee Wee!  Whenever Pee Wee's Big Adventure is on tv, I am compelled to watch it.  "Tell me about your big 'but' Simone"  "There's no basement at the Alamo!"  "I say we let him go"  "My bike!"   "Large Marge sent me"  "ANDY?!"

Yeah, I'm a super dork.

LoL!  I echo the excitement over Pee-Wee Herman!  I love Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, too.  At my old job, my co-worker and I would have "Pee-Wee Fridays" where we'd play clips from that movie when Pee-Wee was at the Alamo!

I wonder what kind of creations we'll get to see come out of this showing!

*shrug* I think it would be a bit disappointing to have the same artists multiple times - we want variety and to showcase different creators!

Didn't Junie Moon (Blythe) do one last time?  We may see some repeat artists... a few of them sound familiar.

Geez, I wanno go so badly but I'm cutting it close on vacation time as it is!

I love this thing. I think it's an amazing idea for a charity. People in need get some financial help and the public gets to remember their love for the ponies. Not to mention we see some exclusive work from some of the hottest names in the business. If I were local I would totally be there. Very much looking forward to seeing pictures from the gallery.

I would guess so as the original press release reads...

"2012 marks the first world tour of the MY LITTLE PONY Project, engaging talents in Los Angeles, New York, and Tokyo, Japan."

And what kind of merch has been sold in the past, anything we can expect to see again? I really wish I could go, looks so pure awesome!

I haven't seen pics of all of them, but I'm a little torn. Some are really cool, some are, um, not as cool, and some look like they were "inspired" by customs from creators on these very boards
I haven't seen any that I loooove (only the carosel one comes close and it looks similar to another customizer I can think of) ^^"

I know exactly what you mean, it's quite disappointing. The majority don't seem as good as the ones from the last Pony Project.

So I finally sucked it up and got a YouTube account so I could share my videos of the event last Saturday:

Singing Bronies:

First part of the line for the second screening:

Photo album:

I had a blast, and I really had no idea how many "bronies" there are in California! I met some very nice people, but I wish that more collectors had gone to the event so I could meet you! I did meet Caro, who owns all the G1s in the exhibit. Her collection has some VERY nice pieces in it.

Thanks for the photo album. I loved looking at all the pics of the ponies and the paintings. Displays and everything! It looks like so much fun! One day i want to go and attend in person. But I'm grateful for photographers to snap shots of the custom ponies for me.

Major goal in life: To be asked to make one of those big ponies for the show LOL
