Title: First pony love
Post by: Marlin on March 05, 2012, 07:27:50 PM
So, I thought of a fun idea for a thread (well, let's hope so!).

If you still have them, show a photo of your FIRST childhood pony! Let's see 'em, whether they are pristine, or battered and bruised and well loved! Tell us a little about them, too!

Here's mine - Bowtie   I got her I think when I was about 5 years old? I remember taking her to school... on holidays... she went everywhere!

My name is still on the bottom of her hoof, her hair has frizzed and her bows are no longer pink... And she is my most precious pony  ;)  In fact, whereas all my other ponies hang out in their cabinet, Bowtie gets pride of place right here next to the computer. I'll never let her go  :smug:

My first pony was a BBE Baby Cuddles and Buggy, from what I remember - she was lost to the Great Garage Sale, so alas I have no picture to offer you.

I still remember unboxing her though, and setting her up behind the couch, where i had retreated with my pony prize in hand for assembly!  The handle baffled me for the longest time, I used to unsnap it to get the ratchet back up instead of using the tab at the front, silly me.  Not sure how old I was, probably about four or less - I know I had a bunch of ponies and the Lullabye Nursery in kindergarden.

I don't have my childhood pony anymore.. :(
She was a G2 Sky Skimmer and I also remember a G1. No idea what it was, but she was pink. That's all I remember, sadly.
I'm so jealous of you and everyone else who still has their childhood ponies.  :cloud:

Sometimes I want to put her hair in the front how I used to have it, so I can recognize her LOL!

She used to take baths with me..  :silly: (no judge!)
I am so glad that I still have her.  ^^

Thanks for the great thread idea!

My first pony was a Marx Thunderbolt I think, MLP did not exist.  LOL  Thoth's it turns out was two G2's from her favorite Aunt but the ones that really got it rolling was the two super long hairs with bonus babies.

I got four ponies at once!

Bow Tie, Applejack, Peachy and Cotton Candy!

I can't dig them out now, sadly.

Skyrocket <3
Nap time was the best with her, I loved nibbling on her eyes and drifting to sleep.
I was born in 91 and basically missed the first gen. :(
I vaguely remember seeing the G2's at toys R us.

I  this thread.  :)

My first pony was Wind Whistler.  I got her for Christmas when I was four and I still remember opening her and playing with her.  I especially liked her fuzziness.  I also remember losing her at the mall within the same year.  If anybody cares, it was upstairs in the mall in front of a JC Penney's.  The mall is still here as is the JC Penney's.  The pony, sadly, is not.  :P

I have a lot of my childhood toys, still - my CPK, my Rainbow Brite, my Care Bear, etc - but sadly I don't have her any more.

Mine was Peachy and the Parlor, for Christmas when I was 6.  I've still got all my childhood ponies and took great care of all of them.  Peachy actually fared the worst; somehow she got a very short mark from a black felt-tipped pen near her NDS symbol, but that's it; otherwise she's NM.  I've still got the Parlor with all the accessories except some of the name tags; I didn't know what they were for; guess I didn't notice the platform slots.  And one strap broke on the bridle but it can still be used.  Sorry, no pic; she's in storage back at my parents' house until I can get a house of my own.  Looking forward to getting the other half of my collection back someday.

Awww! I'm loving these photos (such dear, clearly loved and beautiful ponies! {I love ponies with a bit of history to them!}) and adoring these stories - though some are so sad!!

Those first ponies of ours can create such fond and lasting memories - keep the piccies and stories coming!  :D

Princess Royal Blue was my second childhood pony (first was Hippity Hop who is AWOL).

Her body is hard and her symbols are a bit munted, though you can't really tell from the pictures.  I'm pretty sure I still have her bushwoolie somewhere.  Have shown my mum a photo of him and told her not to throw him out if she spots him while cleaning out the garage!  Here's a before and after of her hair straightening job:

I know there's four and not one here, but these four gals were my firsts. I honestly can not remember if Magic Star or Ribbon came first. I was probably four. I'm thinking I should deflock the poor gals. I loved some of their flocking off as a child and they are kinda dingy. heh.

Mine was Daddy and Baby Sister Bright Bouquet! I don't have individual shots of them, but I plan on a mass photoshoot when I am feeling better! But anyway, I do have a picture of my 'mini display' which has a picture of the completed family :) also: I had baby sister Apple Delight, Baby Brother Sweet Celebrations so when I got back into collecting I had to finish their families! And I did !

My first pony was Gusty! I got her from my parents when I was 3 years old. I vaugely remember opening her, but she went everywhere with me. :D Sadly, I don't have my original ponies anymore. But when I got into collecting, she was the first one I bought. I looked at Dream Valley and tried to figure out all the ponies I used to have. Suddenly, I recognized her and found her on ebay! XD  She needs a bit of a sunfading job to get her bright white, but for now she's currently sitting by my desk with my favorites!

This is so great - thanks everyone for contributing! I'm enjoying hearing about people opening the pony boxes... it makes me wish even harder I could remember doing so! Unfortunately, despite receiving about 16 ponies as a kid, I can't really remember opening any of them!  :P

My Peppermint Crunch still has her smell though, and each time I take a whiff, that scent takes me right back! And I do remember getting My Princess Sparkle (Amethyst I think she's called in the UK?) on Christmas morning when we were away on holiday. I also distinctly remember buying TAF Buttons. It was at a place I think called the Toy Warehouse(?) and I can't even remember the occasion for it! But I remember after much consideration, picking Buttons up off the wall where the ponies were displayed and mum going 'Are you sure? She's a bit ugly don't you think?'

Something made me want that pony though! And now I'm so glad she was the one I chose!!

I had a My Pretty Pony. I loved her. I learned how to braid hair on her. :) My first actual MLP was Bluebelle. I took her everywhere. She was brownbelle when she finally disappeared from my care. I would give almost anything to have her back.

Mine was Jazzie. She's the only pony I remember getting brand new  too. I remember unwrapping her, but I can't remember which birthday.

I still have her, she has a cancer spot on one side now and is missing a couple wheels. But I still adore her.  Recently I bought Melody and Hip hop too, so she's also the key member in my first completed set. <3

Apologies for the hinky photo, taken some time ago. I need to get these girls a proper photo shoot set up sometime soon. :)
