I have seen a lot of OOAK nirvanas or ones that only have a few known to exist and I am interested to hear your story, how did you find them? Did the seller know they what they were? Etc..
I would love to see pictures too!
*eagarly awaits nirvana pony stories*
-
Ok I don't have an OOAK but I do have an OOTOAK (one of three of a kind) haha!
It's argie rainbow moondancer. Theres one MOC, one in fair condition and this one, my precious!! Another collector here offered her to me since she knew how nutso I am for argies and rainbow haired ones specifically :)
she also sold me baby rainbow md who is extremely rare as well!!
I am eternally grateful to Shelti for that! I know I would never have them otherwise!!

Mine was a shot in the dark ;) It was in one of the sales the Delaneys were doing for another collector, and I saw this pony's picture on their site. The pic was small and very, very blurry. All I could really tell was that it was a Lickety-Split, her hair was magenta with some blonde in it, and her body was white. The site discribed her as an Argie too, but didn't say a price for her. When I emailed the Delaneys about her, they told me she was available and that she was $50. I'm so thankful I picked her up- I was short on cash at the time and almost didn't buy her :drunk: This was almost a year ago by the way, before we knew for sure where she was from :)

And while she's not OOAK, I know she's rare ;) This one was an ebay win. She used to belong to another collector here, Medleysong. I still don't know how much she's really worth, but she's one of my fav French ponies:

Those are great glacia! You're so lucky that shotin the dark turned out for the good :) you'll have to excuse me, I'm still a newbie to all of this stuff but who are the Delaneys? I have heard of the name before but still have yet to find out who they are..

They are a seller on eBay and also on here by the name of Jeanne now. :)
They sell stuff on the sales forum through their ecrater site and usually have REALLY good prices for ponies.
-
Thanks for the info flitter! I checked out the ecrater site, they have a lot of great stuff on there. Do they update and put new stuff in often?
-
The Delaneys are a Family of pony collectors from waaay back in THEEEE day...
they were famous for having a house FULL of rare ponies and a TON of MOCs
from what i remeber reading, they had a few "ponypaloozas" where collectors were invited to take a tour of their insane collection!!
kinda like the original pony-con/pony meet :)
I know they did start selling their collection off a few years back and then poped up recently to sell more. I bought both my Argie pegasus heart throbs from them ^_^

The Rainbowconnection one, right? It's updated once in a while, she'll usually make a thread on the sales forum whenever she adds new things. ^_^
-
Is there a link or something to this shop? I wanna look maybe they have some Greeks. :)
-
Wow!! Stunning pics in this thread!

not THAT rare but a very curious find: i got my greek candle pony (sold) from the flea market here in austria for 1€ - the lady who sold her told me that she had a big box of ponies but they were sold 30 minutes ago to a girl, she only left greek candle and 2 baity G1 ponies! :D i think she thought that candle was a fakie because of the not marked hooves! :D

Mine was purchased from the lovely Stormy :lovey: Reverse Gusty, aka Rusty:

And while this one isn't OOAK I'm very impressed with the fact that I found her at a toy fair for £2! :P Indian CC:

My Funskool Cotton Candy was from a member in BC Canada who found her in a Thrift shop (re homed)
My SA Parasol was from BoB, the South African Auction/Sell Site.
-
Don't think I have anything that special, but love to see your beautiful ponies! Reversed Gusty is my grail. :)
-
Every time I see that Reverse Gusty, I fall in love! I wish she had been made that way she is gorgeous!!

Most have probably seen my two unique ponies. One is the Green-Eyed Sweet Stuff. I purchased her a few years ago on a girls "Ponies for Sale" list - there weren't any pictures, just a description with "Sweet Stuff with Green Eyes". I asked for a further description, but there wasn't much else to say about her, so I purchased her w/o pictures for $5. :) I later sold her, thinking I no longer wanted to collect ponies - much to my regret. >< I've since replaced all of my ponies I sold off, save GE'd Sweet Stuff. Her current owner loves her too dearly to part with her. :P
*ducks fakies* I know...everyone's tired of hearing me talk about her. "Yes, yes Cloudie you sold her off...now get over it and stop pining over her." :silly:

And then I've got Thailand Ice Crystal who I picked up in October/November of last year. He was on ebay UK, and wasn't listed properly as a Thailand variant. The picture was a poor quality and didn't really show his distinctive stripe too much, so he stayed within my price range. :) However due to current family situations, he's in the market for a new home. ^-^

Ember, that white bowtie is to die for. Your nirvanas never cease to amaze me! And cloud weaver, you had some very lucky finds, what country is the GE sweet stuff from? She's beautiful, and that ice crystal is lovely, I wish I had the money to buy him!

She is from Hong Kong, there was nothing else out of the ordinary about her. She seemed to be a completely regular Sweet Stuff, except that she had Green eyes from the factory. Her head wasn't ever removed, and her eyes were 100% original. :)
Thank you for the lovely compliment.

That baby Bowtie is stunning and the Columbian I am so jealous of your ponies! :)
Cloud Weaver I can understand how you feel that Sweet Stuff is very gorgeous she looks better with green eyes in my opinion. At least you know where she is and that her current owner loves her. ^_^

Where can I find BoB the south african auction site? I was looking for it on google, but didn't find it, can anybody post a link? I'm desperately seeking south african ponies for sale, if anybody here hears anything about a sale, please do all let me know! Thanks so much!

At a car boot sale a few years ago I found a variant Princess Sparkle with multi-coloured tinsle rather than silver. I'd like to know if she's ooak or not...

What was her symbols and hair color?
Did you check my Variant Princess Reference site?
OK, I checked my website and yours has been the only one that has come to light I believe, that is the one with no Tail?

Talk about pony luck! You guys have the best pony luck ever I am pretty sure. You all have such beautiful ponies, thank you for sharing your stories and pictures with me :)

Mine is a Spanish Flutter pony Forget-Me-Not. I spotted her in a lot on a dutch auction site. The picture wasn't very clear, but I could tell her hair was pink. Luckily I bought the lot and she did turned out to be a Spanish pony! The reason why her hair is pink is still a mystery! I bought the lot from a non-collector, so I'm 90% sure her hair color is legit.

My french lilac haired windy was auctioned on ebay.fr in a lot with french moondancer. My max. was €300 and the auction went for €225-ish. I was super lucky that I got TWO frenchies in one lot for a bargain!

Also from the same seller, Buttermint and Macau-like Minty for €80!

The Macau-like bluebelle I have was also a lot purchase, she came with many other awesome ponies (macau LD, IT sunbeam, all complete met accessories) for €20! My god, how lucky was I!

And lastly, IT sunstone. I was very lucky to find this special lady in a secondhand store in my area. She was FILLED with rust, so I had to take her head off and give her a clean inside.

I thought I'd replied to this already, but apprently not! I have two that are unique so far, and one that is one of two (they could be the same, since we haven't tracked the other down, but I'm assuming she's not).
This girl was just a normal ebay win. I think I paid around £35 for her, which I think was a bargain!
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
This girl was another ebay win, but with a slightly longer story! First time she was on ebay, I really wanted her, but once she got past a certain point, I couldn't justify it anymore. and I bid her up pretty high! However, the pony was one by a regular reseller, who put her back up for sale again almost immediately. I bid on her again, and one her for a fraction of the price!

And then there is this girl. Yet another ebay win, but by sheer luck. As it happened, I'd recently been looking at Taffeta's page about the variant best friend babies. On a whim I searched the 1990-now catagory on ebay (a rare occassion for me), and spotted what looked like a variant baby. I shared with a couple of friends for opinions, and ended up winning her for about $23! She has cut hair, but is awesome :)

wow :D
yum-yum ~ that was such good spotting to see pink hair forget-me-knot in that lot, i would have easily over looked her.
ladyg ~ OMG i remember the whole thing with the woosie variant on ebay :P

I love this thread, all such pretty ponies! I don't think I have something OOAK or super rare to add here but I totally love my peruvian baby bow-tie (baby glory pose). She isn't mint, she's kinda sad, but she's my precious :-) I've been wanting her for ever and I could get her for a good price because of her condition.
-
I'm loving all these stories! I'd love some of the more rare Nirvanas, only stories I have are of my Italian Cherries Jubilee who I bought off eBay in a lot of what i thought were dead common ponies (the only reason I bid on them was because the auction was literally just up the road from me) and one of my Italian Peachies who I bought for 20p on eBay. She's had a killer haircut but I think it makes her look unique!

Well I commented before on OOAKs but best super rare best finds ever I would have to say the takara pinky and greek baby glory.
I think Pinky was my best deal ever. My friend in Japan found her for me for $35 plus shipping.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
although i did get a greek baby glory MIP when I was $14 for $75 which I thought was sooo much back then haha. She was from a greek seller who was selling left over stock and he sent me the pictures and I just fell in love. I gathered up every cent I had and sent the money in cash.. Probably the dumbest thing I could have done as a teenager but it worked because she came in the mail about a month later.
-
I don't know if this is considered a "Nirvana" but for the longest time my favorite pony is tropical breeze and i love italian packaged ponies, i stumbled across this auction and i didn't care how much it went for, she was mine (which luckily i got a good price lol)
I've never seen her in italian packing since so here's my OOAK

Oop and how could I forget my Thailand mountain boy thundercloud, I think he is one of a kind :) He was an eBay buy from the same seller that sold Thai icey (and he doesn't have a head body mismatch hehe)
