Hey if you smell mildew in a pony, but don't see any..what is the best way to treat the smell? Is there anything that can be done for that? I smell mold but don't see any in about 3 of my ponies after the heads were removed...they look fine on the inside. The hair is fine also and there doesn't appear to be a problem with the tail..so where is it hiding?

They sound like they are just musty. I have heard that if you put ponies in a tightly sealed container with baking soda for a while, it helps get the smell out!
-
I would soak them in an oxybath for a few hours and see if that takes care of it :)
The baking soda idea should work if you want to go that route too :)
-
Baking soda and cat litter both absorb odors. :) Hope you can freshen them up!
-
Okay I will try that. I figured baking soda would only be temporary if mold is in the pony..because if you don't kill the mold..it will stink again eventually. Only problem is I can't find it.
-
An Oxybath would kill whatever mold you don't see :)

Antibacterial soap will also kill any nasty things on pony, why not a nice scrubbin'?
Would definitely recommend the baking soda. Have also heard a stay in the freezer helps with smells...

This is true!! Antibacterial soap and scrubbing can work wonders!
Baking soda is always nice too!

Baking soda or washing soda is used to clean and kill mold, so it's not just a temporary deodorizer. You can also mix it with water to form a paste and clean with it.

Don't use an oxy bath if they have glittery symbols, or symbols that stick out, or flocking you don't want to risk losing. I highly doubt there is mold on them, just the musty smell.

Ok every one has been helpful. I have tried the scrubbing with antibacterial soap, next I will try baking soda, then I will try the oxy. I am going in order of easiest task and up from there. Soap didn't do a thing sadly.
OK tried the oxyclean and that has helped some..but not completely..but enough hopefully it won't make me sick smelling that. :satisfied:

Ok, sure...also, I've seen other people say soaking in vinegar removes smells and doesn't leave a vinegar scent.
-
Thats a good idea I could try that too. Thanks.

Be careful about baking soda, it can cause discolouration in some ponies.
-
I have also heard that soaking old toys in vodka for a while should help, though I have not personally tried this. I have some old cheap stuff in the fridge that I have no intention in drinking... so I'm waiting for a smelly toy to come my way.

I would advise Baking Soda :D xx
