...to deflock So Softs using only hot water & a lot of patience? xD
I have two SS ponies who are looking sorry for themselves, & their flocking's very thin, even gone in some places. Is there a chemical-free alternative?

I have partly deflocked a pony before my soaking it in hot water and then carefully running a ceramic knife along the pony. It removed the flocking rather well, but I stopped part way through because it was taking a while and I just haven't taken the time to pick the pony back up an finish deflocking her.

i do know that hot water removes flocking, but i dont know about the glue.
for something chemical-free, someone said that eucalyptus oil works good for deflocking :)

I would *think* so, if the water is hot enough to melt the glue. You'll probably need some heavy-duty gloves in that case, of course.

The glue will be the issue...its stubborn...techincally you probably could remove the flocking with very very warm water and determination and a scribbing brush...but you would need to be careful not to scratch the plastic and I would think you would be highly unlikely to get every little bit plus the glue will not all come off...

On a cleaning program I saw once, they said that you could use eucalyptus oil to remove old glue....I wanna try it but I havent been able to since I dunno where to get it...Perhaps somepony else here have it and could try it out?

Let us know how it goes! I wanna deflock one of mine but I'm worried about using harsh chemicals!

I bring good news! :)
Boiling water worked a charm, I used my thumbnail to scrape off the majority of the flocking (minding not to scratch her of course) xD It came off very smoothly.
I've only managed her hindquarters so far, & the glue is still clinging in dingy streaks, but I'll tackle that tomorrow. :3
This is actually quite good therapy. :lol:

wanna know how I deflock?! I wait until a hot summer day and stick my pony on my dashboard for a few hours. THe flocking peels right off! XD

Panda, that's brilliant! C'mon, summer!
I spent a car ride from Minnesota to Indiana, about 8 hours, fingernailing the flocking off of Magic Star. Sadly, after I got the flocking off, I didn't move on to the next stop. So now she is in limbo, waiting for me to have time and patience! But good to know that heat will remove whatever is left.
Can't wait to see photos of your test subject, VanillaBean!

Any place that sells essential oils should have it. Natural food stores, alternative health places, etc, maybe even a craft store (you'd want the actual essential oil not just something "eucalyptus scented", though) I think I have some, *and* I have this been-waiting-too-long, partially deflocked Shady that was a freebie... gonna have to give it a whirl. Looking at her messy self, intimidates me. But ah... eucalyptus oil... or a hot dashboard in summer... one or the other of those has to help!

i just use hot water and sometimes a toothpick on the symbols and eyes. I cave in and use acetone to get the glue off other areas.. but i think if i didnt hate pruny fingers so much it would be just as easy to use the hot water and soap! I just use dishwashing soap.

I honestly haven't had any luck with eucalyptus oil.

I am amazed that you can get the residual glue off with just boiling water! wow...thats good to know for the future when I think of all the different things I have tried...simply old water will work!
