The water in the shower that is. Nine times out of ten I set off the firealarm, which has led us to take it down, stupid as it is. But it's a pain to stand in the shower and then soaking wet have to run to the hallway, find a chair, take it down and turn it off. I shower with the door open, or the cats goes bazonkas, but even with it closed I once managed to make the alarm ring it's tune. I may look like a freshly cooked crayfish when I step out of the shower but it feels so good with the heat. Even during summer, with the sweat tingling, I have to shower hot. I can't do cold water. My sister on the other hand likes it cold. She calls it refreshing..
So what things has you done to turn on the firealarm, or any alarm? And how do you like your showerwater?

I LOVE hot showers, and baths.... my husband thinks I'm insane.... he wont even shower with me cause he hates how hot I like the water... I feel the same way, I get out looking like a cooked lobster, but it feels wonderful!
luckily none of our smoke detectors were close to the bathroom :P but the one near the kitchen always went off.

On a regular basis, I make pizza from scratch, which involves setting the oven to as high as it will go. The smoke alarm disagrees with this.
Also, moderately warm. Turning the shower too hot causes me to utter a series of fast paced, high pitched random curses.

I've never heard of a fire alarm going off because of hot steam o.O how unusual
Ours only went off in the kitchen when something like burnt toast happened or some cooking that ended up with smoke

It has happened to me once too, lol. I also shower way too hot, my dad always complains that he has to adjust the water heater after me. Luckily I don't live with them, so it doesn't matter! I hate cold water ... brrrrrrrrrr

We had a fire alarm go completely out of whack at some point.
It went from it going off even when we were doing normal cooking without pretty much any smoke at all, to going off at completely random times
(Scared the hell out of the people who house sat for us once. We'd kind of forgotten to mention it), to eventually going off and never stopping.
My dad eventually took it down from the ceiling late in the evening, when it had been blaring for several hours, and, not knowing what to so as the thing had an internal battery, tossed it into his car to mute the noise. By morning it was still going strong...
It took several sharp implements, and a lot of digging around to find that back up battery, to finally get the thing to shut up.

I take my showers super hot as well - especially after getting tattooed.

Our fire alarms get set off by the steam as well! I take pretty hot showers, but our water heater is awful and runs out in about 15 minutes. :( We keep the door closed when we shower and open the bathroom window so that less steam builds up. I LOVE showering at my dorm (most people hate the showers, heh) because I get unlimited SUPER SUPER SCALDING hot water. It's awesome. :)

My fire alarms are *super* touchy. Every time I heat up the oven, if there's just a little something on the bottom, the alarms go berserk! And of course the one that goes off weekly is my toddler's room. Yay. That's what everyone wants - two little boys scared out of their wits end, while a blaring beep is pounding through the house. I prefer them hot it is the only thing that will get the nasty corn syrup off me from work, that is what i get from handling pop cans all day.

lol!! I take a really hot shower and then a blast of cold at the end. It feels soooooo good! Only once did the firealarm go off. It freaked me out so now the door stays shut and the window open.

Depends ont he time of the year. Right now? Warm but not scolding hot. In the summer? cool!
and we havent really taken down the fire alarm unless the dogs were here and we knew it would go off due to cooking or something.

I like my showers hot too. If I don't look like a lobster afterwards, then I must have used all the hot water.

Oh yeah! I have to adjust to it, but then I am totally up for some Old Japanese Man bath temperatures... LOL ;)

I enjoy looking like a lobster after my showers too.
Funny enough, I don't have a fire alarm. My closest one is located right outside my front door. So my entire apartment needs to be burnt to a crisp before anyone else in my building is warned.

Yay, I'm not alone! lol
Our firealarm is just outside the kitchen so whenever I did a hot meal or was baking I had to turn it off before starting or it would go off. Stupid alarm is touchy as well. When I turn it off, it it does these beeps at random in pure sulkiness, it does it even if I take out the battery. Luckily enough our apartment is very soundproof so no neighbours are disturbed. The past six months the alarm has been living in one of the drawers in the hallway. It sulked at first but has been nice and quiet for some time now.
Ginger, I've heard that is the best way to end a shower as the cold water makes the pores close and hinder blackheads to build up. I just can't do it.. I don't want to freeze when I get out of the shower.

my last few apartments the landlords for some reason thought you know the fire alarm should be right above the oven!!! ugh!!! I've had to remove them and then if the landman was coming over place them back so they wouldn't have a fit. Seriously who thinks its a good idea to have a fire alarm right above place that will always have some smoke? I couldn't cook anything without it going off!

depends, in summer i'll start off warm and then finish off with icy cold. in the winter i have it hot.

Oh god, after reading this, I keep thinking about cold showers and it freaks me out! I love really warm showers but not super hot ones. I get cold very easily as well so I have to have my FiM blankie!

I used to have a fire alarm that was super sensitive in my old apartment and my showers set that off. The new place is arranged in a much more intelligent manner :P

So glad other people have this issue too!
The smoke detector in my apartment is directly across from the bathroom in the hallway, so it goes off pretty much every time I forget to open the bathroom window before taking a hot shower. I've taken to leaving a Frisbee next to the smoke detector so that I can fan the steam away quickly when it decides to go off. :P
