I searched but I couldn't find any thread like this
I want to know how everyone's favourites has changed
So
Which pony was your favourite pony as a kid? Why?
And which pony is your favourite pony now? Why?
(please state gen if it's not G1)
My favourite pony as a kid was Twilight. I didn't have many pony toys but I had all episodes from the series on VHS and Twilight was definitely my favourite, close followed by Ribbon ^^
Now my favourite pony is Speedy. I don't really know why, since her color combo is quite odd, but that is probably the reason. I have a soft spot for orange and TE ponies.

Mine oddly hasn't changed. Gusty was my favorite and first pony at age 3, and later, Mimic. XD Though I've added extra favorites since I started collecting... those two are still my absolute faves!
I do have to add Fluttershy to the list of favorites. She's so much like me that it's comical. I love her! :3

Yup... same here. Gusty was, and will always be... that "special" pony! :D
I remember loving my Baby Cuddles, and Baby Surprise as a kid.... they got a LOT of play time. :frolic: So did Bowtie... and Milky Way... :lovey:
Now that I'm an adult (and can buy the ponies I want... :devious: ) Bubbles and Seashell have FINALLY joined the herd... and I just ADORE them!!! :good:
But overall... my ultimate Fav... hasn't changed. :D And I doubt it will... :lol:

baby lickety split was my favorite when i was little, and she still is one of my favorites today. My favorites right now are Masquerade, posey, mimic, locket, bubbles, cherries jubilee, raincurl, and lickety split

As a kid I really don't remember....I think it was probably the toys I had like the Ballerina Toe Dancer. Now my favourite ponies are Gusty, Quackers and Medley and I don't have any of them. XD Of the ponies I own Salty is probably my favourite pony. I love the big brothers.

Favorite pony as a kid: None (but I do like Megan :P )
Favorite pony as a teen: Sweetheart
Favorite pony now: G1 Sweetheart, G2 Lady Sky Skimmer, G3 Pinkie Pie, and G4 mane 6 + Cheerilee :P

Mine has not changed either. As a kid, I used to have my parents rent the My Little Pony movie every time we went to the store... Wind Whistler was my favorite back then and she is my favorite still. Followed closely by Fizzy and then Gusty.

cherry treats as a kid and still now. baby surprise and cuddles were and still are favs, and so is Gypsy and skyflier.... i dunno why.. they just were. besides adding new favs from new generations, i still have the same. New favs, cupcake, honeybuzz, and a few g3s.. i think i just like certain color combos and poses for the g3s.. :3

I loved G1 Goldilocks as a kid.
I really loved the SHS body, and I thought her hair was beautiful. (I didn't know of Rapunzel, but I wouldn't of liked her as much-- because I wasn't a fan of her pose). She inspired me to curl my hair, which looked bad, which made me feel like everyone hated me, which ended up having me hate her when I reflected on my "childhood" when I was 14. Which sparked me to throw away all my ponies. ):
Now its Truly. She is white, fuzzy, rearing, and has a heart in her symbol, and was one of my first ponies (and a survivor).
(I also really like Applejack because she represents both G1 and G4.)

As a kid I liked Berry Bright. She's probably still my fave G2, if only for the nostalgia.
Favorites from the other gens:
G1 I like Bubbles and Gusty, G3 October Calendula (birth month, favorite color [yellow], and one of my favorite poses??? yay!), and G4 I like Fluttershy and Dewdrop Dazzle.

as a kid i *think* my favorite was baby moondancer and her mom galaxy ;)
now my favorite (not counting argies) is parasol, streaky & TE bright eyes.... i know this because those are the only ones i regret selling from my collection :cry:

My favorite pony when I was a kid was Galaxy and I also loved Hearthrob and Wind Whistler! I didn't have any of these as toys though, I had to use others and give them that name haha! But I loved them in the tv show! My favorite toy ponies then were Tunefull, Garden Glow, and Wiggles!
My favorites now are still Wind Whistler and Galaxy from G1, and Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Cheerilee, and Dewdrop Dazzle from G4!

My favorite pony as a kid was "the one that got away"....Lady Flutter.
Today, she is still my most favorite pony. I can't help it, I just love her!!

I had many favorites as a kid, but I'd have to say Surprise and Paradise and Quackers. They all came in different times of my childhood, so they all were special seperately.
My now favorite pony is Minty, even though she's not in the now ponies, she is still to me. If I had to pick from friendship is magic it would Rainbow Dash. Not because she's the center of attention or because she's crazy, but just cuz her colors and personality.

Fancy merpony Baby Sea Princess back then. She's still one of my faves now.
So, now it's BSP, Moondancer and baby, Munchy, Salty and Barnacle, and Gusty. I mean I like alot of ponies, but these are my absolute faves.

I was not into ponies as a kid but I had and loved Windwhistler as a child and she's still my favorite now. :lovey:
Other favorites: Tux, Nightglider, Posey, Crumpet (and baby)

It was always Bow Tie as a little girl
And now is is Baby Fifi
Although if I am honest Bow Tie still runs Baby Fi a close third behind SS Fifi

Clover from G1's 7 tales.
She was my very first hasbro pony, otherwise I only had fakies. Later on I got a couple more as well as finding some on my own at second hand shops.
When the Tales TV show started airing in Sweden I was so delighted that she was on it, and surprised over how close she matched me in personality ( I was very clumsy as a kid, easily misunderstood things but at the same time quite lucky. )
My dream pony as a child was 'Princess Sparkle' ( the pink glitter one with a light up crown. )
And my Fiance gave her to me last year, which felt unbeliveable!
PS is probably my current favourite, although Clover will always be my first and the one that started it all :happy:

Paradise & Surprise were always my favourites as a kid, because of their personalities on the show. I didn't know the toyline had existed back then. xD
They were the first G1s I bought when I became a collector, but now Paradise seems a little plain to me.
My favourites are now SS Crumpet, SS Twilight & TE Bright Eyes, although I have yet to own any of them. D:
Flutterbye & Tickle are also up there, I love them! :)
My fave childhood ponies were G2 Satin Splash & Princess Crystal.

As a child, I had two favourite ponies--my favourite pony from the movie and my favourite pony from the two that I owned as toys. I watched My Little Pony: the Movie constantly and Morning Glory was my favourite character in the movie; I liked that she was sweet and had that pretty song despite being stuck in the well. n_n Toy-wise, So-Soft Cupcake was my favourite; I only had her and Twice as Fancy Sundance. (I didn't care much for Sundance because I didn't like the Megan she came with, haha!)
When I started collecting I rapidly went through several quickly-changing "favourites." I just kept discovering new ponies! I played with other little girls' collections of ponies as a child, but I didn't remember any in specific, so when I started collecting there were so many new ponies that I'd never seen. First, after talking to a childhood friend about her favourite pony--Glow n Show Starglow. Then I briefly fixated on Rainbow Ponies and adored Skydancer, followed swiftly by Rainbow Curl Ringlet because I liked the painting on her wings and her slightly more pastel-ish-ness. Next stop? Flutter Ponies--specifically Rosedust. Then I saw the Summer Wings Ponies and loved Little Flitter--hence the username. XD I've moved on to adoring several different ponies at different times since then.
Soon I started collecting G3 and instantly became addicted to Pinkie Pie. XD So she's now my favourite. ♥ I even love her G4 self and toy.

Favorite pony as a kid: LOFTY! and Masquerade too! A absolutely LOVED anything yellow with wings! XD
Favorite pony now: well.. I like baby Ponys more now :) but Yellow pegas will always be my special ponys <3

My favorite as a kid was probably Seashell (yeah, I can't remember with confidence). I still rather like her. However, my current favorite of the past 5 or so years has been G3 Sunny Daze. :D

Cherry Treats was my favourite as a kid. I always loved my other ponies, but Cherry Treats was always the special one and the "main character" of my bunch of ponies.
Now... I have no clue! I love them all of course, but maybe baby Racer now? When I was like 3 I thought race cars were boring, haha.

I would have to say growing up as a kid my favorite was Medley.
Though now my favorite is Surprise. Though I played with both ponies alot as a child.

My favourites were Gusty, Wind Whistler and Princess Tiffany because I liked them in the cartoons! I now own all 3 (only had Gusty out of those 3 as a kid) and nothing's really changed they are still my favourite! XD

When I was a kid, my favourite was probably either Medley or Merry Treats. I loved Merry Treats, especially, since Christmas was my favourite time of the year back then :P
Nowadays, I'd have to say my favourite pony is Bon Bon (from Tales). I love the colour combo, and I am so much like her character in the show, lol.

My favorite has always been G1 Posey. :lovey:
When I was in elementary school my mom took me to the toy store at the mall and told me I could pick out a reward because of my improved report card. I picked out G1 Posey.
I still adore her and think she's under appreciated. I love her soft colors and her pose is so proud and elegant.
How can anyone not love this pony???

I dunno if I'd call it a favorite (since I only had one) but it was a light green toy pony that would make horse sounds and upon that happening, a light on her forehead would also light up. Wasn't into MLP at the time (probably never knew about it in the first place and likely wouldn't have enjoyed it). Now it's Nightmare Moon from FiM.

As a kid I was only aware of G2s, and my favorite was Berry Bright. <3 I still love her! Now my favorites are Berry Bright, TE Speedy (<3 <3 <3), Blossomforth, and Fluttershy (because of her personality!). I'm also a fan of Bright Eyes because my dad always told me I was "bright eyed and bushy tailed". :P

I was only aware of G2's too when I was a kid. My favourites were Ivy, Cupcake and Golden Glow. Cupcake was one of the first ponies I got and her hair was amazing, it sat better than all the other ponies manes.
Now my favourite ponies are still the ones mentioned above, as well as Banana Surprise, Sugar Sweet and Milky Way.

As a kid? Powder! She's a purple unicorn... how much more awesome can you get? :)

Sorta on topic... :lol: But I've been thinking about this lately...
There are a great many things that I like today... that I can trace back to MLP, specifically Gusty (as well as Strawberry Shortcake...)
First... My favorite color... Purple. I'm pretty sure this stems from Gusty's leaves... and MLPs in general! :lol:
Second... I LOVE Fall Leaves as a motif.... design... etc. I decorate with them... and I designed my Rennaissance costume around them years ago... :D Yup... Pretty sure this comes from Gusty...
Next.. my love of my birthstone... Emerald. And not just any old Emerald... I specifically LOVE the deep, clear, emerald green ones! In fact, I prefer LAB created emeralds more often than not, because they have the right color... whereas many "natural" emeralds these days, are a lighter green, closer to peridot... than Emeralds. (Hubby did good! My engagement ring... tho he tried really hard to convince me I wanted a diamond... is a NATURAL, deep green Emerald! I will NEVER trade/change/upgrade that ring!!! :heart: )
Yup... Pretty sure that shade of green is Gusty's fault... :devious:
And then there's the fact that... to this day, I not only collect MLPs (which led to Breyer model horses... and thus my "career" painting and customizing them as an artist... ), and model horses... but they play a MAJOR part in my life... 20+ yrs later!
As for Strawberry's influence... I recently rediscovered the set with the little donkey. Seeing a picture of that donkey brought back a FLOOD of memories that I had forgotten. I'm pretty sure that my love of donkeys, and Brighty of the Grand Canyon specifically... can be traced back to that little donkey toy... as well as "Nestor the longeared donkey"... and "Small One"....
It's amazing really. When you stop and think about, just how much influence those early toys can have on your later life! :good:

I loved Masquerade when I was a kid. All my G1's came from markets and such, so she was the only TE I had, and I think that's what won me over XD Princess Silver Swirl was also a big favourite. Skip to when I was collecting G3's, 9-10 years old. Starcatcher was my favourite simply because she was a pegasus. Coconut Grove and Thistle Whistle came close after, but I still played with Masquerade a lot too. Now today my favourite is still Masquerade!

My favourites when I was three were Daddy Bright Boquet (he was big brother to my babys sister bright boquet) and baby sister bright boquet, also I adored by only seapony splasher! Now I adore Mimic and the year 3 seaponies! xxx

G1 Twilight was always my 'special' pony.
She was so high on my list of needs when I was recreating my childhood herd. Gusty and Wind Whistler too.
They haven't really changed though I am painfully fond of Twilight Sparkle from FiM..hehe :p

Then and now--plain old CF Cotton Candy.
I got her for Christmas 1984, she was always my favorite, and she was the only one I kept that fateful day in high school when I sent all that was left of my large collection to the Salvation Army (ugh). I still have her, and she still looks good! She does have a donor tail.
Bubbles is a close second--wanted her desperately growing up, never got her (or even saw her). She did not disappoint when I finally got her in 1998. Seashell (same story) very close third--found her in 1998 at an attic sale, which restarted my collecting.

I don't remember my favorite from when I was a child. I remember Wind Whistler, Beach Ball and Buttons, and I remember playing with them and Bridal Beauty in the garden, but I'm not sure whether I had a particular favorite.
I do remember when I was slightly older that G2 Silver Swirl and G2 Princess Crystal were my favourite G2s. Still are. :)
Now I have a lot of ponies with sentimental value, but the three I'd go back to would be Wind Whistler, Beach Ball and Buttons.

My favourites have pretty much stayed the same as well. I had never seen Gusty or Fizzy toys but I loved the artwork and cartoon versions of them, they were my two favourite ponies. Although my favourites from the ones I actually had were Hair-Do Bangles and Pony Bride.
Gusty has remained my all-time favourite pony, and I still like Fizzy, but Butterscotch has recently taken her place as my second favourite. Green and brown are my favourite colours and I adore Butterscotch's warm toffee brown tones. ^^

I loved Wind Whistler. She was always a role model for me proving that girls could be smart, too. :) I liked Ribbon, Buttons and Fizzy too. I had Ribbon and Buttons as a kid and have them now, though I'm still searching for ones with perfect flocking.
